*SIGH* I tell myself that and yet, sometimes I can't help myself. I think my backlog is nearing 200...
A good rule is to stop buying games unless your backlog is down to 5 or so. My backlog is at 6 games right now and I just simply won't buy anymore games until I finish some of them. There are exceptions of course. Halo Reach is getting bought when it comes out and I'll be putting that ahead of all my other games. My backlog is already about 50+ hours deep with the games I have chosen for it (might skip FFXIII and save it for next summer or something). Plus, chances are that the game you bought for $30 is going to be $10 when you actually get to it in your backlog. Might as well just hold on until it's cheap.

Well, I've got right around 400 games now ( http://www.backloggery.com/mit ), and haven't played more than half of them, but I wouldn't consider a single one of my purchases something I bought just because it was a good deal (which, yeah, I've paid full price for very few of my games...). FFXIII is definitely something I want to own and play, I just want to get the best possible price on it.

I don't think it's going to get much better than $20 for a long time.

Such a great deal on Silent Hill. I almost bit on it for $25 from them last week. Glad I waited/ran out of money.

Thanks, Cheapy!

Crap...I resisted buying Silent Hill while I was at work after putting it in my cart and almost clicking on the buy button. But I just checked again before going to bed only to see how many people were buying it and it was still availale so I went and bought it anyway. Damn CAGers...making me buy games I don't have time to play...YET AGAIN!

I wanna get Sin & Punishment, too, but there's no free shipping for the used copy. Might just wait 'til Black Friday on that one.

I doubt that. FFXIII has dropped like a fucking rock already. $20 at BBY brand new a couple of weeks ago. $20 used on Gamefly now. You could probably score it for $15 used on eBay if you sit around and try to snipe a few auctions. I wouldn't be surprised if it hits $10 somewhere soon. It's just not holding its value what so ever.

Thank you. You have persuaded me not to buy it right now :p

You better be right though...

Actually, it doesn't matter. Even if it takes like 5 years to get below $20, I'll still have plenty of stuff to play in the meantime and won't miss owning the game one bit.

I didn't like silent hill on Wii the controls are almost as if non-respsonsive, you can't kill the enemies so you end up wiggling your way around

Interesting at gamefly.. I might have to call them up today

they are showing DAWN OF HEROES NOW ..

Gamestop says the 10th AMazon shows the 14th

Upgraded my account to get this shipped today... if it doesnt ship by 3pm est i will call them up and see what is going on .. if they dont have it i wil request a refund on the upgrade ..

Going to be leaving at the end of the month anyways ..

DAWN OF HEROES
Gamestop 29.99
Amazon 27,99 (ordered it for this price its 29.99 now)
Gamefly 22.49 (+ 2 for the upgrade fee 24.49

Thought that would be the cheapest place to get it after tax be 26 to keep it now

fingers crossed it ships today

Son of a bitch. I just for ff13 last week for 24.99 and hadnt gotten to it yet.

Im gonna get me some silent hill though, Id been curious about it but not 20+ dollars curious.

Tempted on FFXIII, I've been wanting to play it for a while, but I was hoping it would drop $2-5 more before I picked it up....

Well, the worst case scenario here is you buying it for $20 in a couple of years or months. I don't think it'll become rare so I doubt it'll sky rocket in price.
You're not missing anything, Mit. It's completely forgettable.
So far, I'm agreeing with ya. I'm only 4 hours in after about 2 weeks (haven't had much time which is why it's waiting til next summer or when I have a break) and I'm not really enjoying it. Every one says it opens up after the first 10 hours, but to be honest, I don't feel like grinding through a game for 10 hours before it becomes a good game. Kind of defeats the purpose of gaming if you ask me.

I am kinda pissed I paid full price for Final Fantasy. I didn't pay full price when I bought far better games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Fallout, etc

the first 20 hours is literally just running in a straight line while fighting enemies and watching cutscenes (most of which is Hope whining like a little girl). still, I like it well enough that I started playing again to try to get some of my money's worth... at least before I sell it for whatever I can get

Thanks Cheapy! I'm really tempted to pick up POP: Forgotten Sands for the 360... The funny thing is if it was for the PS3 I would've bought it in a heartbeat (I just really like the DS3 controller more.)

A few things I'd like to say though for those buying Silent Hill, when a creature catches you make sure to move like you actually are pushing someone off of you, the controls end up being more responsive that way (though you can still get away with minor movements, though it doesn't seem to register at times.)

It doesn't "open up." People don't know what the hell they are talking about. It's linear, through and through -- with a bigger field to walk around in once you're 20 hours in. It doesn't magically become "good."

If people only want big fields to kill shit in for their RPGs, I recommend Diablo II -- it's fucking awesome.
Boo. Silent Hill is out of stock.
Keep checking. I clicked on it again just to check something and it was back in stock (~1:45pm EDT) and was able to place an order. Seems to be in and out. Not sure if that's typical of these sales.

went ahead and bit on FF13. Figured the $21 would be worth my time. Gotta quit buying games/blus at cheap prices...

Gosh shipping really kills the deals, $6 for the cheapest option, Call of Juarez is 12.99 and I've cancelled my membership, jacks it up to 18 almost 19, uhhhgggg. Good thread tho!
I'm surprised that FF has dropped so quickly. I mean once or twice at a Jackson maybe but all the time?
It sucks, that's why. I'm on Chapter 10, and it's all I can do to keep playing. If it wasn't for the incredible cutscenes and the story (which I DO like) I would've shelved it long ago. The characters are annoying and it's extremely linear. I mean EXTREMELY. Walk forward 20 steps, fight a mob, walk 10 steps, watch a cutscene. Rinse and repeat. Everyone's been warned.

I am under the impression SE isn't doing so well a number of the games outside the portable consoles. Crystal Bearers looks like crap too.

When does the sale last to? I just got Silent HIll sent to me with a new Gamefly membership and going to "Keep it". If possibel would rather wait until I have it in house, but if the sale ends like today I'll do it now.

I remember reading a review that pretty much summed up modern SE games by saying their games have shitty narratives and focus too much on gameplay mechanics.
Just got my shatterd memories in and holy crap is it in shitty condition. It looks worse than a GS refurb.
Man, that sucks. Give them a call/email and they should take care of things.

And on a selfish note, hopefully you getting a crappy disk improves my chances of getting a good one

Hopefully some of you do get a better copy. I've gotten refurbs from Gamefly before and they have usually been in almost perfect condition. There were some light scuffs which were tell tale signs of being run through a refurbishing machine, but nothing near the scratches I got on shattered memories. These scratches aren't even light scruffs. They are pretty damn noticeable. Too bad they don't do exchanges.

The ones I got lately looked like that - wonder if they are putting the disks in some sort of a cleaning apparatus.

I'm pretty sure the discs only look like that if the pad they are using is worn out and needs replacing. There's a 50/50 chance of the discs actually working 100% so be cautious with them. Unfortunately, places like GS don't switch out the pads often enough which causes shitty refurbs to be sent out everywhere. Hopefully, this was a quality control issue with Gamefly and they don't do what GS does.

Agreed, those circular scratches look like it went through their cleaning machine but someone must have put some sand in it (or maybe it previously cleaned a disk with sand and it got stuck in the machien). Either way, that kind of damage could be repeated on multiple disks until they realize that they are damaging the disks rather than cleaning them and change the stupid pads in the cleaner.

Heavenly Sword was $60 for years, probably because it was just that great, right?

Just got Final Fantasy from Gamefly for $15.28, everything looks good, no extremely noticeable scratches on the disc.
