Current Sales Deals

All Playstation 1 games $2 (both used & new)

GR is clearing out their stock of Playstation one games for $2 a piece. Get them while they last.

DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

75% off Select New Games & New Accessories

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.
io your mailbox is full...again:)
Double d'oh! Fixed...again :D

Sorry, just like my piles of old games, I have hard time clearing out old messages. I feel like they may be useful again some day .
Picked up the following today:

EyeToy: Kinetic + EyeToy - $12.50
Mega Man Anniversary Collection - $5.00
WarioWare Twisted! - $9.99
I didn't realize Kinetic was on clearance - I think they have one at my GR but in the locked case. Regular Eye Toy's (with Play) on the other hand, they made a pyramid of right by the register, so I don't expect those to last. They must have had a bunch in the back because I had never seen so many before. I picked one up ($10) even though I already have it - just couldn't resist. They also put all the plug-n-play games by the registers with their $5 price tags. Again, I expect these to go fast. My son had been harassing me into getting the Star Wars one at Target for a long time so $5 in GR credit is a wonderful price. Sure the games are crappy, but as a novelty it is well worth it at that price :D. (The damn thing takes 4 AA batteries though!).

I also picked up another Wireless Pelican controller (also $5). Then I noticed when I got home that it was missing the batteries (there's an obvious space for 2 AA's), but it looks like the package is intact :whistle2:s. I'll have to check out the other one when I go back.

Yeah, I had to get the employee to get Kinetic from the case for me, as well as WarioWare from another case. I picked up Mega Man just 'cause it was cheap and could be traded for something else.
Sorry, I don't feel like reading this huge thread to find this out.. but has anyone seen the extra $5 trade in thingy at a regular Blockbuster?
At least one person has mentioned seeing the signs and getting the deal at a regular Blockbuster, though with some difficulty -- I personally saw big signs up for it in 2 different regular Blockbusters, though I didn't try to do any trades.

Alright, thank you very much... :) I think I'll try tomorrow with a few of the CC games (Nightmare before Christmas, Flatout, etc.)

Just one page back I posted how the BB's in my area are NOT participating. So it might be worth calling and asking first before opening any games you might otherwise want to return :D.

IO I don't feel like reading, checking the cag wiki, looking up my local store, or even driving there. Could you or maybe shipwreck drive to my house, pick the games out that get the most trade value for me, and take them to GR. Thanks...

Well even without the extra $5 it's still worth it to me to trade them in. :) I'm pretty sure I'll be safe with Nightmare before Christmas, Flatout, and Parallel Lines. I can't imagine my blockbuster will be crazy and give like $10 less than everyone else. :p
IO I don't feel like reading, checking the cag wiki, looking up my local store, or even driving there. Could you or maybe shipwreck drive to my house, pick the games out that get the most trade value for me, and take them to GR. Thanks...

I better start Mapquesting EchoBase.

kjauburn - you forgot to ask us to pick up any good GR clearance games that fetch alot of credit at EB. Or maybe we need to make a separate trip for you to do that. I guess we have to take them into EB as well and work all those deals, which are actually trickier than GR. Then we have to preorder stuff you might like, and then later pick up and deliver all of that.

CAGwiki updated to this point. If you are looking for values of CC games (before any potential bonus) check it out. If it ain't there, we don't know.

I think it's time for a repost, with additions

* The extra $5 bonus deal *might* be active at regular BB's, but YMMV on getting an employee that knows about it or how to do it. Franchisee BB's are probably not participating. In addition, it appears that Blockbusters in some districts (like mine) have chosen not to participate in the promo even though it is in their instructions from corporate (the infamous MAP) to do so. If you are expecting to get the extra $5 it might be worth calling and asking about it first.

* YMMV on getting GR/BB to accept old sports games or cheap games in general. They are *supposed* to reject anything that sells for less than $7.99 used, but the computer won't stop them from bumping up any game UNLESS the bump makes it more than the used sale price. Some clerks will ignore the limitations, and others will make up new ones such as "the trade-in value must be $7.99 or more" (as opposed to used sale value).

* SOME NEW games are 75% off, and the list is in the OP! If you can find these at ANY GR and MOST BB's (again, except for Franchisee stores) they WILL ring up at the prices in the OP, regardless of the tagged price. MAT 3 for PS2 is not part of the sale (think it was mistagged at a store early on and made the list because of that).

* There is NO current deal on used games, and the used versions of the clearance games still cost their regular used prices (eg, Silent Hill 4 PS2 $5 new, $16.99 used ).

* It sounds like the bonus deal might end Aug 4th, but GR/BB has a habit of pulling deals before they officially end, so if you want to trade stuff, do it now.

* The 75% off sale will run indefinitely though we have heard in the past that at some point the items will be "field destroyed". There will most lilkely, then, NOT be another price cut. So buy what you want NOW, as there is no point waiting any more.

* All the trade values we currently know about (through this post) are in the CAGwiki. If you got cheap stuff from CC, Kmart, or just laying around your house check there first. If it is not there, we don't (collectively) know. If it is not in the Wiki, feel free to call your local BB/GR and ask - then report the price here so we can add it to the Wiki.

Hope that helps...
OK, to summarize (only the first part is in response to you sp00ge, the rest for all the other questions we keep getting repeated :D):

* The extra $5 bonus deal should be active at regular BB's, but YMMV on getting an employee that knows about it or how to do it. Franchisee BB's are probably not participating. I'm going to test my local BB today - wish me luck.

* YMMV on getting GR/BB to accept old sports games or cheap games in general. anyone know the difference between franchise and non Franchise of Block Busters and gAme Crazys? Because I went to one BB/GC and I got me 3 games 75% off and I went to another BB/GC and they were not doing the deal even though on the computer it came out 75% off they told me that the computer was wrong and whatever the price on the sticker thats the price.
You'd get couple hundreds dollars just from the bonus.
man...gotta do my hw to see if id profit from these lots...but the wiki is down
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=104753617555&fromMakeTrack=true

Someone look at that auction and tell me what u think will happen if i trade those into BB using this deal... all of them
You are going to end up paying at least $5/game and there are ALOT of non-qualifiers in there (at both GR and EB - lots of 2002/2003 sports games). There are many more games that won't qualify at GR, but you could take to EB to get at least $4.33 for them (and that is worst case - if they have the new $1 minimum trade value and the EB clerk doesn't screw you over and deny you the Edge discount).

Plus there's some fishy things about the auction like the misleading pictures - shows 5 Xbox 360 games in the picture, but only 2 are actually included in the auction.

But hey, go for it :D. Your trade-in price report will help fill in the Wiki nicely.

And I know the Wiki is down - very annoying. I had finished updating the GR prices and was about to start on the EB ones - but it has been down for hours now.

I think you mean Gamerush instead of GameCrazy? If not, then you are confused :D.

They were just being jerks for refusing to sell for the discount. At franchisee BB's things ring up differently (I got wacky trade-in values at one a few weeks ago). You can ask them if they are one, or if you get a receipt it will say "Blockbuster Franchisee" on the top instead of "Blockbuster Inc".

At just about every BB I've been to, they are prominently advertizing the 50% off sale. Maybe they haven't caught on to the 75% yet, but it isn't SO different from the 50% that they should refuse it. What I mean, is, at the 50% off ones, the tags are still generally at the original price (ie, $19.99) but they expect things to ring up cheaper.

Hey, if someone wants to do me a favor, as I won't be able to get into GR tomorrow, I'd like prices for the following CC non-tradeable leftovers and other assorted games:

GBA Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure
GBA Hobbit
GBA Sigma Star Saga
GBA Tales of Phantasia
DS FIFA Soccer '06
DS Incredibles Underminer
DS NFSU 2
DS Spyro Shadow Legacy
PS2 Backyard Football 2006

I apologize if any of these are in the Wiki, as even though I stare at it often, it is not up right now for me to double-check

Yeah it was game rush. I have a receipt from August 2005 from that very same blockbuster I went to and at the top It says "Blockbuster Inc". Now does that mean that they were suppose to give me 75% off? But did not because they were being jerks. Which ones give you 75% off the Franchise or the Inc?

They were being jerks, especially if it was a Gamerush! There are no franchisee GR's. The franchisee stores are the ones where none of this stuff (necessarily) applies as they are independent from Blockbuster, Inc. For example, the one I went to took trades, but they gave wacky values like $19.99 for Driver PL, and $7.99 for Nightmare Before Christmas (and this was a few weeks ago).

TUBAPRO1 - I was trying to PM you about your want list as I can get most of it but your PM box is full!
Oh please will a fellow CAGer hook me up with a 1 GB memory stick duo at this killer price? I will make it worth your while
I bought the only one my store had when they went 50% and thought I got a great deal. Now all my store has are the 128's... They have PSP batteries too, but I simply don't see the reason for getting one, even this cheap. If it was free, maybe... but then it would just take up space.

This thread cracks me up...

io, I'm fairly certain you'd probably be better off putting FIFA 06 DS on eBay than trading it in... last I checked it was fetching $20+.

Hey, it's good to see some life in this thread once again. Reminds me of the old days. Now if they would just bring a fucking preorder deal back again...

Yeah, that would make me happy with the two or three GameCube games I need to preorder. Don't really save much with the DS games I get, unfortunately.

Well, I have PS2 games to preorder - but mostly I would hope they would come up with a deal for Wii/PS3 games. But that isn't going to happen. I was so spoiled being able to get all my $50 games for $30 last year (and really for about $15 considering trade-ins). It is going to be hard to shell out $60, even if it is GR credit, for the new games (hopefully Wii games won't be that much but I wouldn't count on it).

Yeah, I'm at the dilemma what to do with my credit....I have $500+ now (I filled up one Value Card)

I may pre-order another system, or just go on a 360 game spending spree....what to do. I really don't need another console, but they both have me intrigued. I thought about a DS Lite, but I really don't play portables anyways, so I passed.

I state everything as a powerseller and potential competitor of rhonna24. So, take this with a grain of salt.

I'd be leery of a rhonna24 auction.

First and foremost, his/her auctions always garner higher prices than similar bulk auctions. The prices are actually higher than a sum of the average selling prices of each game.

Second, he/she doesn't seem to ship immediately. This $5 bonus credit isn't going to last forever. If it ends and then you receive your game, what then?

Third, your local BB/GR may not take 100 trade ins at one time. Even if it does, you might receive the dreaded but rare "banned from trading" letter from Blockbuster.

You could sell me your credit at a discount. Cash tends to work when store credit won't (ie. rent, lights, food, car, etc.)

Wow.

Also, the GR $5 thing is only good for 10 games at a time, 1 time per day. I'm sure you could find a way around it but it may not be worth the risk/

Yeah, I thought about EBAYing it, but this is like my "fun" game money. I try not to spend my "real" money on full priced games....Just trying to decide if I want a PS3 or Wii. Could be nice, but not sure if I really need it. I have a 360 already. I guess I could hook it up to my spare 26" LCD (since it's being used a PC monitor)

Well, you could always let me buy a PS3 with your credit and resell it on eBay for a $600 profit. I'd be more than happy to thank you. ;)

Quick update on some tradein on some cheapies from BB/CC clearance with bonus:

XBX-Rogue Ops - 1.00 ( no bonus )
XBX-Outlaw Tennis - 7.50
XBX-Full Spectrum Warrior - 5.50
XBX-Drake- 6.25
PS2-Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - 7.50
XBX-Medal of Honor : Rising Sun - 5.50

Not bad for those from the B2G1 for .01 CC and Best Buy 1.99 Sale/Clearance.

Yep, that is what I'll probably do....get a PS3 to resell on EBAY. I hope they are the same as the 360 fiasco.

Back to GR...I'll be stopping by later to see if they have the LIVE kits still....my store has a few as of Tuesday.

The store I went to put the "clearance" games in one place, there were a few of them, mostly doubles of garbage games and they had a "blue circle" sticker to signify that they were on clearance. The best one was Killer 7 for GC, but it was marked at $29.99. I asked the clerk if she could scan a Megam Man Collection and Capcom Classics Collection, but instead she pointed me to the above^ pile of games (Killer 7, Madden o6 DS, Scooby Doo, Incredibles, etc.) Now, does this mean that only those games were on sale, or if she had scanned the MM collection, would it have been at $5?? I am confuused.:boxing:

Same here. I got put on their "PS3 Interested" list. I'm #2 so hopefully I'll be able to pre-order one.

Has nothing to do with the blue stick AFAIK. Ask them to scan it. If it lacks the sticker it is just cause they never tagged it. Hell, my GR still hasn't put up the 75% sign and the clerk didn't even know it was going on. (His eyes got big when NHL 2k6 rang up 5.00)

Sweet, I have those around here somewhere.

I am taking 3 360 games in to trade today:

PDZero LE
PGR
Kameo

I hope to get around $105 with the $5 Bonus.

I will have my DS Lite today!!!

They actually have two of them in-stock!!

Then it's off to ebay to sell my Mario Kart Red DS (without the game of course)!!

I stopped by the GR by work today....nothing TOO great in games. A few Star Wars:RC, Tecmo Collection...a few others. I almost bought a couple, but I wasn't sure what was BC, so I passed altogether.

Traded in the following. All of them worked, and bonus is not included.

Xbox:
Ncaa Football 06 $5
Solider Of Fortune Double Helix $.50

Ps2:
Crash Bandicoot Wrath Cortex $7
Nfl Street $2.50
Jak II $2.50
Haunted Mansion $2.50
Killzone $7
Mercenaries ($6 or $7)
Harvest Moon Save Homeland ($7)
Star Wars Battlefront ($6 or $7)
Star Wars Clone Wars ($7)

I have 2 BB stores by me that don't have a GR in them, so if they end up being "BlockBuster Inc." and I find some good clearance games at them, can I use my GameRush Value card, or will they look at me like I'm insane because they don't even know what a GR is.

Blockbuster has Value Cards too, they just look different. I use mine all the time.
