Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

Keeping on topic about the Farmington Gamerush....

I walk in there a couple days ago with a stack of about 8 games to trade in. I decide to look around first before approaching the cashier to do the trade. Suddenly a manager walks out of the back room with the district manager. The same district manager that suspended me for trading in countless 'loophole' games as an employee at a different store. I decided not to get a second account blacklisted from all the metro Detroit stores and headed for the exit once the DM turned his attention away.

Anyways, this deal is amazing. Nothing like getting ~$20 for Galleon, Auto Modellista, and clearance Circuit City games. My personal favorite is the Novi store cause of the employees. The Maple store is a bit of a hike, but they've always got some good stuff when I make the trip.

man....never knew the CAG competetion was this intense in the oakland county area
 
Slightly disappointing trip to GR today.

First, I got shot down on the GBA trades. Sucks because I had just opened several games I would have otherwise kept sealed to trade in. GBA games are not eligible for the $5 bonus. Fortunately I squeezed a few in on Weds before they realized this. As a result, no dumping of my extra Dr Mario/Puzzle League - but I wanted to keep one anyway so no big deal that I opened it, as I was going to sooner or later.

Second, the clearance stuff got nearly wiped out between Weds and today. They said some couple came in and bought well over $300 worth of stuff, including those 2 PSP batteries I had been eyeing, most of their pyramid of Eye Toy's, several memory sticks, and most of the PS2 games. There's really not much left. I'm glad I had a big haul on Weds since none of that stuff would still be there otherwise.

I bought a few more iffy EB credit transfer games - I will probably only be breaking even on those. I did one very small GC credit transfer as I wanted to check on my GC credit anyway. The GBA Dual Masters game is $5 at GR, trades for $5.50 with MVP at GC.

Later today I'm going to an EB to dump a bunch of this stuff and preorder the Final Fantasy XII LE.

Yeah I'm probably gonna head out there tommorrow with my games. I've always found the Novi employees (even just the blockbuster ones) to be competent. Well, except for this one stoner dude who works there. Coincidentally he was transfered to the Novi one from, where else, the farmington store.

Ah, that would explain what happened at my GR probably - GR has been below the FW radar till now. I guess things are changing. The people who wiped them out are not regular customers - the manager had never seen them before. Those Eye Toy Plays are worth some money, not sure about the PSP batteries or 128MB memory sticks though - they seem not worth the trouble.

Check your Kmart for the PSP battery (1800mAh). It's on clearance for $8. How much GR was selling it anyway?

I think it was $8.50, but in GR credit which makes it half that to me. I still passed it up because I really don't need another battery (and it isn't the better one so there's no point). I probably should have grabbed one though when I had the chance. I'm not complaining - I had every opportunity to get it. It was just one of those things today that indicated to me someone had cleared them out.

Hell, today I grabbed that set of 2 Justice League GC controller (for all of $5) even though I have no use for them :D.

There were two guys in front of me buying a couple of different controllers and a few games - first time I had actually seen anyone else partake of the sale.
 
Traded in 6 games today, but damn it all, I don't have the receipt on me (it's in my car).
Traded in PDZ, Burnout Revenge (X360), Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (Xbox) MGS3, Ys: Ark of Napishtim (PSP), and Crimson Tears. All I can remember is Crimson Tears fetched $12 before $5 bonus, and Ys fetched about $12.50 IIRC.

All in all, I got about $105.50 for those six games. Not too bad; I was expecting much less.

I just went to a Game Rush and I came out disappointed too. There was really nothing worth buying. Geist was there with a $50 price tag still, too. Do some Blockbusters just not follow the price listed or what?

Thanks, shipwreck! You saved me some dollars tonight! I didn't expect to find anything, but got a couple Eyetoy games, Xenosaga II, and Winning Eleven 8, plus a GameCube controller. Yippee!
 
Does anyone have the list of the non-listed 3rd party accessories that are on sale? I went to a GR today and they had tons, but was unsure of which were on sale and for how much.

If you can't swing the preorder bonus at your EBStop, then take 10% off the bumped prices. If you don't have Edge/More, then just add $3.33 to each of the original values (eg, regular trade 3/$10 bonus on Punisher would be $8.33). Even without the 10% bumps it is a good deal.

So I managed to turn $41.25 in GR credit (and I'm not including the Lego Star Wars trade here) into a preorder for FF XII Limited Edition (which is only available at EBStop by the way) and nearly enough to rebuy Lego Star Wars for GC.

The Lego Star Wars was not part of the credit transfer, but actually a game from my collection. I want to buy the GC version instead, which this EB was supposed to have according to the web site (but of course they didn't). I inlcuded it here in case anyone was thinking of trading it to GR - DON'T, as you'll only get $11 with the $5 bonus. It's base value at EB is a whopping $9, which just goes to show how much more EB knows about games than GR. Even though it might sell for the same price as something like MAT2, they know it is in higher demand and thus give more for it. GR might give better values overall, but they seriously undervalue some things that are worth quite a bit (this is a rather tame example of that, but there are better ones). Plus, GR will never ever get the GC version of Lego Star Wars in stock, so I feel better giving my old one to EB as that is where I'm much more likely to find the GC version (they should stock the upcoming PC version even if I can't get a hold of the original).

I have only BB no GR and one of my stores had some games for $2-$5 and $5 Gamecube official controller along with a bunch of third party accessories for various systems. So check your BB out just in case.

Agreed, SmartBomb is awful. Even if you like weird puzzle games, this one is aggravating beyond all description. Play Gripshift instead :)

Has anyone traded in any DVDs at Blockbuster/GR latley? I'm curious if they give decent values (Obviously not $8 like in the past).
(Considering I got $4 in the past for an old version of Office Space...they must be decent...right?)
 
Ok, I am back to putting an "I (Heart) Blockbuster" bumpersticker on my jalopy. In addition to the clearance sale finds, I just checked another one (a plain old BB, not a GR), and they were clearancing out games without cases or manuals (disc only). Got Tony Hawk AW and Need for Speed: Most Wanted for $10 each. At this rate I will be broke by the 4th (but at least I'll have lots to play)!

Umm... MK: Deception rang up 19.99 for me (non premium edition). I thought both editions were clearanced for $5?

There is some goofy huge barcode sticker on the back of the game (not covering the original UPC), wondering if that was what she scanned. I didn't notice till I got to the car (thought the total was high, but oh well). I guess I will try to return it at my local BB, even though they hate taking returns of anything, particularly new merchandise, but we'll see how it goes. I suppose it might be easier for them to just give me $15 back if they scan the actual barcode and it does in fact ring up at $5. The annoying part is the unexpectedly high total maxed out my two value cards, so I had to pay $3 in cash :shock:
 
Made my trip to the Novi MI store today. I walked around the clearance game section and they seemed to have a good amount of stuff left. Some games I noticed were:

I opted not to buy anything knowing I would never play any of those if I bought them. I considered hiding the copy of Unreal Championship 2 so aolat could go pick it up but then I remembered he called me a dick the other day. Plus he's not old enough to play M rated games anyway.

So anyway I had my stack of games ready to trade in.

Prices (before 5 dollar boost)

So the dude was ringing them up and I asked about the extra 5 dollars. He said it would happen automatically after he scanned them all. I started to get worried. He then asked another guy who worked there how to do the extra 5 dollars. Neither one could figure it out and dude #2 suggested just getting the manager to add 5 bucks to the total. It's at this point I told them it was 5 dollars per game. They were blown away. "Nooo no no, no way dude." Said the first guy. I pointed at the sign for the deal and said "check it out." Both of them were utterly amazed. The sign was probably about 12 feet wide. It was the first time either of them had read it.

So anyway the manager comes out and says that the thing only works on games that have a resale value of 7.99. So dude who was helping me points to the receipt and says "looks like none of these games are gonna work." She quickly corrected him and said that was the trade-in value and not the resale value. FINALLY SOMEONE WHO KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. I couldn't believe it. An actual Blockbuster employee who didn't act like it was their first day on the job.

So Gungrave and Armed & Dangerous weren't eligible for the deal. I decided I wanted them back. Because dude had already scanned them in the manager ended up just giving them back to me and keeping the trade in value (2 bucks) on my receipt. Blockbuster had just given me free money. I was happy.

Moral of the story: While it may be hard to find someone who knows what they're doing at Blockbuster, employees like that do exist.
 
And MK Deception rang up $19.99 at a second Blockbuster, correct barcode scanned. Has anyone else gotten this game for $5 today? I can't imagine it being taken off clearance, but who knows. Both annoying and amusing since I just bought the Premium Edition at the first store yesterday for the expected $5.

Unfortunately because BB is so half-assed organizationally (good for us usually), they won't let me return it at the store since I didn't buy it there. So I guess I will be heading back down to Macedonia to try to return it there sometime in the next few days.
 
Wow, I've never had such major problems at the Novi store. They have 4 or 5 experienced workers that know their stuff pretty well, but a few new hires that you have to walk through the transaction. Next time I get an incompetant employee I'll just offer to ring it up myself.
