DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.

But I keep track of it all in Excel - original cost, trade value, what I've spent, how much has gone to EB, etc... Once you set it up, it only take a minute or two to add a new transaction in. It has been very useful to keep track of how much I'm spending - after all, these trade-in fodder games cost real cash money, so to speak :D. Can't get too carried away!
I do the same thing, it's kind of a nice hobby eh? It's fun to look back at the list and go "yyyeahh ;D"
I do the same thing, it's kind of a nice hobby eh? It's fun to look back at the list and go "yyyeahh ;D"

Eh, it's like using Microsoft Money every time you make a purchase...I don't see much of a difference, just being thrifty.
I remembered a time when I had to cancel a pre-order, and they couldn't find it, so they printed out a transaction record to find it, and it was kinda embarassing because it was so long, and since then the manager has kept an eye out on me. Mainly due to the fact that I used to cancel so many of my pre-orders to get 49.99 credit when I was suppose to get 29.99.
Based on the stories and own experiences changing a preorder seems to draw the wrath of the manager more then anything else. I can't remember what the title was, but I changed one last year after they sold my preorder. Talk about flipping out even though he admitted he may not get it back in and it was there fault for selling it. I pretty much ended my visits to the store for about 3 months, because he gave me hell the next time I tried to trade.

If you were creating a list of things to avoid notice:

1. Avoid changing preorders unless they are never going to get the game in stock. If you ordered 2 I am sure you can think of something to do with it.
2. Avoid returning new unopened games. Sell it, trade it, or trade it in.
3. Yeah the rules say you can trade in 2 of the same title, but don't press your luck. Spread them out across stores or days.
4. If you have a title you know is a credit builder, trade it in before sunday. The trade value drops tuesday, but the price they sale it at drops sunday. If the price has dropped and the manager sees he is buying a game for $21 and selling it for $12.99, well yeah he might freak out.
5. If you are stupid enough to trade in unopened new games, well yeah they might look at you funny. Don't poke the bear...
6. If you walk in everytime with 3 games that trade in for $20 plus you are drawing attention to yourself. You know that old copy of socom, blinx, gran turismo 3, etc. you have in your closet, take it with you and just say no thanks I don't want to sell it for quarter.
7. Don't mess with flipping games from gamerush to gamerush. Trading in a bunch of clearance games you bought at another GR to get the $5 bonus is a good way to say "Yes I am stupid".
8. For the newbie's don't ask/tell them you are buying new games to trade in for credit.
9. If you trade in a large number of games lets say $200, try to buy something. Rent a movie, asks about preorders, or at least act like you are going to buy something. Grabbing the credit and running to the car laughing probably isn't a good idea.

Feel free to add others...
I keep track of it all in an Excel Spreadsheet - very handy. If you kept all your receipts (and I know you do since you are a PG user!) you could recreate it. I would NEVER EVER EVER request any kind of history. I once asked about a preorder and they printed my 3 month history (this was last Fall when I was dropping preorders left and right) and I got a 5 foot long printout . Luckily these 2 guys were cool with it (no manager in sight), and neither work there any more anyway. My 3 month history now would mostly show all the clearance game purchases I've done, as I haven't actually traded there that much.

That's where I am lacking... I never bothered keeping my GR trade-in receipts. So sure I have all my purchase receipts for games I trade in, but none of my trade-in receipts or any games I purchase for trade elsewhere (i.e. all the clearance games). I guess I will wait (when GR folds, and no more trading is necessary?). As far as tracking, in the spending tab thread, I just guesstimate credit purchases as around 50% value, which is far overestimating the actual cost. I was just thinking again about putting together a nice little application to track everything in, so I wanted to be more accurate with things. Is the 3 month history all you can do, or is that as much as the store can do? Whenever I'm done with GR, I was hoping that corporate/district could give me everything I've ever done.

And I've broken a good number of rules, so there are a large number of comments on my account. Returning stuff, complaining, etc. Luckily this hasn't caused an issue.

Hey,

I know that you guys say that all GR stores are corporate, but I just rented aome movies at my local BB/GR last night, and the receipt says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Weird.

I went to a few Blockbusters last night to do some trading and it is pretty hit and miss for the extra $5 deal. Some of the ones I went to were Gamerushes, others were just regular blockbusters. Only half the employees know how to add the extra $5 and I came across managers who thought they added it but didn't. I went into a store with:

Tony Hawk 3-0.25
Gran Turismo 3-1.25
Aeon Flux-$24
Road Trip-$19

They posted the balance to my account before I had a chance to see how much they were giving me and I saw that I only got $24 for Aeon Flux when I should have gotten $29. The guy kept saying it gave the the extra $5 and that was the reason the price was so "high". They didn't give the bonus on any of the others either. The guy just kept making up a bunch of BS about how already got the bonus and I eventually just gave up and took the $24. Anyway, complete incompetence across the board except for a couple of great gamerush managers who actually had a clue.

Am I the only one here that doesn't keep receipts of any kind or want to know how much I spend on games? I know it's thousands of dollars a year...I don't need a paper trail for my wife to find.

Heh, I track everything in Quicken anyway, it's just not broken down to games. They're under Entertainment: Staying In.

You don't keep your credit card receipts? That seems like an awful idea.

Anyway, to pretend to stay on topic:
Anyway, to pretend to stay on topic:

What, is your phone broken? ;)
No, it's just that every time I call I get the old dude who says "I need the games to scan and see what condition they are in". And considering that I don't even HAVE a Driver right now, that's a bit diffiicult :D. Plus I don't need the GR employees to hear my voice any more than they already do. I was just surprised we hadn't heard yet.

As for your 50% estimate, Botticus - I'd say that's pretty close. I have that calculated for my GR trade-ins over the last year and a half. My exact value (and I'm guessing yours would be similar) is 42%. At EB I'm running at 36% though! You'd think it would be the other way around, but for whatever reason it isn't. Part of that is because I consider a GR clearance game at the actual cash cost when trading to EB. So a $5 game becomes $2.10 for EB cost purposes. But my EB value is a running total including all of last year's deals too.
Any Driver PL PS2 quotes for today? Matrix PS2?
As a matter of fact I just got back from GR with some trade in prices! All without the $5 bonus.

Ninja Turtles(PS2) - $7
GTA:SA(XBOX) - $7
Castlevania:CoD(PS2) - $12
Driver:pL(PS2) - $16

Driver and Castlevania held for another week!
What do you mean by credit purchases at 50% value?
When I flip games, I usually get double what I paid for them. i.e. Buy Driver: PL, for less than $10, get $21 in credit. So if I buy something for $30, it really only cost me about $15 in cash.

BLOCKBUSTER FLIPPERS TAKE NOTE:

NBA STREET V3 FOR PS2 (WHICH IS ON THE SALE LIST FOR $7.50) TRADES IN FOR A WHOPPING $24(bonus included)!!! I almost shat myself when I traded it in today.

I wonder if this goes for the XBox and Gamecube versions as well.

Wow, not bad at all, they had that at one of my blockbusters...

I just got back from gamerush, i bought a DS lite to sell online, so if anyone here wants it, ill sell it for $130 shipped.

They had a couple more racks with "used games as low as $4.99" (all of which were game only, no manuals), not sure if this is a promotion, or the store just trying to get rid of the no-manual games.

I don't use my credit cards...I use my debit card and I'll keep the receipts around for a couple weeks in case I need to return something...but all transactions are posted online within a few hours usually, so I know if I was charged properly or whatever. I also have a permanent online transaction list from my bank that goes back several years...I could print that out if I really needed proof of purchase for something.

In about 15 years of using debit/credit cards...I've NEVER been overcharged, mischarged, or had any other problems. I get short changed all the time when I pay in cash though, mostly because cashiers can't do basic math.
Where are they selling NBA Street Vol 3 for 7.50 and does the XBOX version get that much too?
See, that's the thing...BLOCKBUSTER sells it for $7.50 NEW! As far as the other formats go, I really don't know.

More bad news - as of today, Driver:pL and Marc Ecko regular (both for XB) were trading in for $6.50 each. Guess they caught on :( Also, to the people talking about NBA Street 3 for PS2 - I tried buying that today at Blockbuster and it rang up $29.99. This was at a store where everything else was on clearance. So, I don't think you can buy it at a clearance price and then trade it in for $24. It's obviously gone off clearance like some other games.

It is only for the Xbox version the PS2 and Cube versions are not on sale.

^That news killed my aspirations of jumping into the flipping business to get a micro, oh well here's to hoping that Gamerush starts clearancing them out soon!
It is only for the Xbox version the PS2 and Cube versions are not on sale.
Uhm, I picked up a gamecube version for $7.50 recently.

Edit: well if you read the OP you would know that all versions are for sale.
Uhm, I picked up a gamecube version for $7.50 recently.

Correction - if you read the OP you would be LED TO BELIEVE all three versions were on sale :D.

I thought it was ONLY the GC version that was actually on sale?? I tried to buy the PS2 one a few weeks ago and it was $29.99, and reported that here - I assumed it had been removed from the OP (I haven't looked at it in ages). Has anyone ever bought the PS2 version for $7.50, where it wasn't a mistagged price adjustment?. I just figured that was a mistake in the OP. I'll have to try an Xbox copy as well, as my GR failed to tag any of those (including the GC one that I did buy for $7.50). I got in a little trouble at my store for asking to void out the PS2 NBA Street 3 after he rung it up at $29.99. I was overly confident in the OP (rightly so, as it had worked for every other game I bought). But we all know how those GR people hate voiding transactions.

However, you can get the PS2 version at CC for $8.96, right? I've been ignoring that game as I assumed it was worthless for trade-ins. It is no surpirse that it trades for a bit then, as it is $29.99 new - though $19 trade-in (before bonus) seems a bit high for something they would probably sell for $24.99 used.

So, Driver PL is $6 for Xbox - but didn't someone else get $16 for the PS2 version today?? Very strange if so. I just picked up a PS2 copy at CC tonight - I will have to call and check before breaking that seal though .

Yup, sorry, I went tonight and PS2 NBA Street V3 rang up for $29.99 (I didn't check the xbox version). But I have bought atleast GC and PS2 versions for discounted prices, I can't remember if I got the PS2 version for 75% off or 50% off.

Hey Gamerush Fippers, There is a sale going on at Gamecrazy, and they are doing a buy 2 get 1 free deal. All titles are 5.00 bucks each. Does anyone here have the time to sort this list and check wiki to find the highest trade value at GR or GS/EB?

Yeah, I'll get right on that!

Hey, Botticus and I update the wiki, someone else can sort and compare. Anyway, I'd be more inclined to use those GC sale games to trade to EB though. Then you don't really have to worry about the value. You'll get at least $14.30 (at an EB if they scan your Edge card) even if they trade for the minimum. I might swing my GC for the first time in a while and see what I can find. I had been starting to convert my GR credit there, but with no trade-in deal it was never easy. Now I might take what little credit I have there and put that into the EB pipeline :D. I just don't need more GR credit.

But if anyone finds a gem in there for GR trading, let us know ;)

But hey, I can use the GC sale to get that copy of Aquaman to work on my "worst games of every system" collection. So far I only have a mint, sealed Drake on display :D.
As far as NBA Street v3 goes, if it is marked for $7.50, I believe they're REQUIRED to sell it to you at $7.50. Someone correct me if that's wrong...
Well, my point was that NONE of the versions were marked at my GR. That's why I asked if the PS2 version was ever really on sale (as it didn't ring up that way a few weeks ago). If it was marked $7.50 at a few stores and someone got it for that, that is a different matter - doesn't mean it was really ever on sale though. The GC version was most definitely on sale as I got an unmarked copy for $7.50.

CAGwiki updated, not that there was really too much to add. C'mon people, I know more of you are trading!

...anxiously awaiting independent confirmation of Driver PL for PS2 still holding at $16, and NBA Street for PS2 at $19 .

Ok, compared the GameCrazy $5 games list to what we have in the Wiki, and there's absolutely nothing worthwhile from GC if you just want to flip it to GR. I think the max any of those got was $6.

I just finished looking through and I didn't find anything over $3 for transferring GC credit to EB (as opposed to GR). OK if you just want to transfer it like GR credit. In terms of spending cash at GC for these games to trade into either GR or EB/GS I'd say it isn't worth the trouble - especially as you have to be worried about the condition of the games as well. That's why I much prefer trading new games :D.

What games get $6 at GR though? If that is before bonus it is probably worth it. I might stop by GC just to see what they have. I might be able to scrounge up a few games to round out EB and GR trades so it would be good to know what's good for both.

That's a bummer, because theres 4 hollywood videos and gamerushes right next to each other around here.

I just traded in 11 games. All prices reflect the $5 extra:

Age of Empires DS $15
Viewtiful Joe Double Trouble DS $9.50
Killzone $15
Chibi Robo GC $15.00
Half Life 2 XB $11.00
Metal Gear Sold 3 Subsistence $17
Samurai Western PS2 $21
Perfect Dark Zero $20
Hitman Blood Money 360 $40
Kingdom Hearts $10
Kingdom Hearts 2 $32

$232.67. Not bad for a bunch of games I never play.

You know what, you're right, I did get the PS2 version at the CC sale...my mistake. Still, it's a helluva flip.

 .....

OK, I just called a regular BB and Driver PL for PS2 is still getting $16.

I wanted to ask about Combat Elite for Xbox but that is listed in such a strange way. I'll just takes my chances with that one :D. I still need a third unique game to trade into that regular BB.... Hmmm.... My trade-in stock is pretty low right now.

I went to 3 GR's today. One of the 3 said the clearance sale was over and sent the rest of their clearance stock back. Either this one is a fluke or the sale is about over.

Hmm... might be worth one more trip in the next couple days to move some more credit to EB. Not much left that was worth the drive, but I'm sure there are a couple Scooby Doos and whatnot.

Well I said I was done with the CC games, but I walked into a CC today and found all the credit builders. Bought 12 and used the $15 off coupon. Now I have to find out if they all held. Going to call around, but I can never get prices on the phone. If anyone goes in today can they check Flatout (Xbox/PS2), Nightmare (PS2), and Combat (Xbox/PS2).

Actually certain stores with a higher volume are receiving clearance items from other stores. The manager of 1 of the GR's I go to told me to keep checking back every few days, because other stores are sending the clearance leftovers to them...

You should have sold a couple of those on here. Age of Empires is kinda rare...should be able to get around $25 cash for it. Viewtiful Joe would get you around $15 cash, Chibi Robo...I woulda paid $20 cash myself...some one else may have been willing to go higher... I only trade in games if I fail to sale or trade them here or on GTZ first. And I don't trade them at all if their Ebay price is significantly higher than their trade-in price, like with Age of Empres.

Oh yeah, I noticed that. On my trade receipt it says :

"XBOX - BATTLEBORNE'S COMBAT ELITE"

and its also "DISNEY'S Chicken Little" in case anyone is looking to ask GR about that one.

On my receipt it just says Combat Elite, and when I called to ask how much it got I just said Combat Elite and it came right up. Your stores are weird I guess.
