Current Sales Deals

All Playstation 1 games $2 (both used & new)

GR is clearing out their stock of Playstation one games for $2 a piece. Get them while they last.

DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

75% off Select New Games & New Accessories

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.
I think it DID drop to $1.50 or $2.50 last time I traded in (07/08)
Ah, yeah I thought it might have dropped. Did you get the $5 bonus on it, do you remember? I bought a copy for $2 so it'd still be a decent flip if I got 6.50 or 7.50.

FYI when I tried to trade Beatmania today they said they were not taking it. They looked up both sku's with and without controller. First time I been denied on a game only out for few months...

Same thing happened to me with Taiko Drum Master and In the Groove.
Which system are you guys talking about? The only Poker game I could find at GR last night that came up on sale was "World Poker Tour" for Xbox. I tried all the other variations for Xbox/PS2 and no others were on sale (World Championship Poker, etc). I didn't see a "World Tour Poker".

Looking on Metacritic I don't see a game called "World Tour Poker" either. Maybe this was just a difference in system and EB/GS has it listed differently for the 2 systems (PS2 vs Xbox)? I'll report what my "World Poker Tour" for Xbox gets later.
The version that gets $3 is the Xbox version.

Unless EB has a listing for "World Tour Poker" in error, and people are trading in disc-only to get the $5. *shrug*

BTW, another good credit transfer game is Xenosaga 2 for PS2. $5 at GR gets you $8 at EB before bonus.

It seems trade values have dropped on a couple good games.

Aeon Flux PS2-$19
Road Trip (GC)- $16

and the rest...

GT3-1.25
SWKOTOR-$7
Path of Neo-$12

I left the smiley off my comment for dramatic effect - but it should have been assumed.

Still nothing about Valkyrie Profile Lenneth from either GR or EB. Something funny is going on... Has anyone else seen this at their GR? I can't have been the only person on here to preorder it??

They're onto you and your preordering ways. I think you may have been cut off. :D

Other than my rapidly fading Twilight Princess preorder, I haven't had anything reserved at GR since NSMB :)shock:) so I couldn't really help you.
They're onto you and your preordering ways. I think you may have been cut off. :D
Well, if the EB tells me they've sold all their copies already that does me a favor - I can cancel my preorder (that they failed to deliver) and get the credit back no problem. I had to figure out what I was going to do with the second copy anyway (was going to ebay it I suppose). Of course, that means GR has to get it in .

Botticus - I thought you preordered FF III, Starfox, and some other DS games at GR? Or did you just go with EB for all of those?

Those are all at EB since GR had been a pain in the ass to deal with at the time. The new guy is getting better though, so I will likely put in a preorder for FFIII and whatever else they have (not Starfox yet, I'm waiting on reviews for that one - though I could always preorder it and eBay it if I'm not impressed by said reviews). All my DS preorders at EB will likely switch to first-party Wii games unless I don't think GR will get that particular game in (Contact, etc).

I'll have to check if Deep Labyrinth is in the system yet, that's due out next month as well.
Deep Labyrinth is an Atlus title, so while it may very well be in the system (as Disgaea 2 is), I wouldn't count on it ever coming in. I got that one covered at EB. I have Disgaea 2 preordered at both places but I don't expect to get it at GR. Since that was a switched $30 preorder deal game, I'll just cancel if it doesn't come in and get my $50 back :D.

Believe it or not, I still have 7 $30 preorder deal games still on order. 4 of those were switched from other games that either didn't come in (eg, Tales of Legendia) or are actually coming out at $39.99 according to EB so I switched them to $49.99 games before GR adjusted the prices (eg, Okami, Rogue Galaxy). 3 are still unchanged from the original deal and are over a year old (2 x Zelda, FF XII).
Found an interesting trade value today:

NCAA Football 2005 (Xbox) - $10

It won't work for the extra $5 deal though because the used price is $9.99 so the computer won't let them give you anymore. It's $2.99 at EB/GR.
I tried this today at a normal BB and was offered $0.50

WTF? Was this just changed today, or is the pricing different?

Edit: Just called GR and confirmed $0.50. Shipwreck, were you talking about the NCAA Football/Top Spin combo disk?

Just got back from trading in my games at GameStop. I was only able to trade in 6 of the 9 that I got from GameRush. I got $48.00 from it... waiting another day to trade the other 3 for $24.00! That's $72.00 total from spending $48.69 in GameRush credit and still having another $21.31 tied up in GameRush credit from trading in those PSP games for $70! :applause:

I didn't get the 10% bonus for having my EB Edge card... the CSR said the $10 bonus overrides the 10% bonus?

Wolfpack... sorry, I already opened up the games and gently beat them up and placed them in used game cases before I got your message. Or else we could have worked something out! #-o< ME

I'll hit up 2 more GameRush stores Saturday morning... I'll see if I can find anything interesting!

Checked on a couple games I'm debating trading here, GR, EB, or eBay:

Nanostray - $8
Rub Rabbits - $8

If I take those with Trace Memory ($7), that's a cool $38.

Edit: D'oh, Trace Memory is $7 at EB... I guess I'll need to find a third still.

Well, what do you know, GR actually got Valkyrie Profile in today (a Friday!) and actually called me about it too. EB, on the other hand, had my copy for a few days and DIDN'T call. When I called them yesterday they said they didn't have it. I went in today to trade and they said they have had it since Wednesday. I guess I forgot to specify that I had preordered it when I called . I thought they would at least tell me it came in but they were sold out - then I would have mentioned the preorder. Oh well... at least it wasn't the last gutted copy, they actually saved me a 'real' one :D.

So, while we like to rag on GR's customer service, sometimes EB can be just as bad (or worse in this case). And this is the 'good' EB that I like the most of all the ones in the area.

One of the GR near me now has 2 tables set up now with $9.99 or less preowned games. Only reason I mention it is I noticed several used games that must have dropped to $6.99 last sunday as reported. As stated it looks like they are trying to push down the number of games qualifying for the $5. If they took the time to setup the new tables and sort out about 500 games form the systems it makes me curious to see if they are going to have a upcoming used game sale. In the past it always seemed like the 25% off used games sales started a few weeks after trade in deals ended.

One other thing I noticed on the receipt lately. It states on August 22, 2006 they will no longer subtract the initial rental fee paid from the selling price of a movie/game kept out over the week after period. Don't know about anyone else but I took advantage of this sometimes when I noticed the sale price of the game/movie was only a few dollars extra to keep.

Thanks for reminding me about that... I was gonna "rent" Jedi Outcast II or whatever the rare GC game is (that has never been rented) with my free rental coupon and keep it to trade in to EB. I think it gets like $18 at EB, I can't imagine GR being up on rarity, so it would probably be a relatively good credit mover.

And according to the last wiki update a week or two ago, Trace Memory gets $7. Not bad for an okay game that just isn't drawing me in that I bought with $7.50 on a Target gift card. I like adventure games, it's just no Phoenix Wright. :whistle2:(

I went to the GR in Westchester (Sepulveda and La Tijera) and lo and behold, this must be someones store, cause I could only find a few games, much less anything worth keeping. Picked up Dark Cloud, Big Mutha Truckers 2, and a couple xbox games for moving credit.

Good mover is anything on the front page at 3.75 or less to double up your GR to EB credit. BMT2 for PS2 gets $3 at EB, vice its xbx counterpart which only gets $1.

Has anyone's store started taking preorders on Wii or PS3?

When I "rented to keep" Jedi Outcast II it cost me $18 or $24 or so. I think it was $24, and I had to pay $18 more to keep it. So that might not be worth the transfer, unless they've dropped it recently. While they aren't up on rarity, they also aren't up on dropping prices, as we all know too well :D.

It really seems like people aren't taking full advantage of the $5 trade-in deal any more. I guess we're all burnt out after the CC games .

CAGwiki updated, though there wasn't much to do.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

OK, so except for a couple more games I'm pretty much done transferring GR credit to EB.

This is what I was able to do since late May (I started when GR was at 50% off and EB was doing the Trade 4 Get $10 deal):

Total games transferred: 98 (give or take a few) + 4 GC controllers
Total GR credit spent: $510 (give or take $10)
EB credit acquired: $830
Actual cash spent to get $830 in EB credit: roughly $210

So, a bit over a 50% increase in credit while obtaining much more useful EB credit. Not bad...

Late night edit: Holy $*&#!, NINETY-EIGHT games? I really had no idea. I'll have to check that math in the morning . Note that at least 30-40 of those were scrounged from the paltry new game sections of regular Blockbusters (and not GR). I still find it hard to believe I bought around 60-70 games just at GR though.

Sorry guys, I was indeed talking about NCAA Football 2005 (Xbox), but they must have caught on that they were selling it for less than they were buying it. I figured that would hold up until the usually Tuesday price change.

If it makes you feel any better, I've traded in 97 games in total to EB, a vast majority of which are GR games. But that's all at one EB.

wiki update...

traded in total overdose today and it has dropped from $12 to 9.50

at store #1:

$4 total overdose from CC ----> $9.50 + $5 bonus
$5 death jr. PSP from BB ------> $12.50 + $5 bonus
$5 genji from BB -----------------> $9.50 + $5 bonus

at store #2:

$4 total overdose from CC ----> $9.50 + $5 bonus
$5 death jr. PSP from BB ------> $12.50 + $5 bonus
free duel masters from BB -----> 0.50 cents with no bonus

so about $23+tax cash converted to $79 BB credit

Traded in a couple of Total Overdoses as well for $9.50 this morning and a couple of other games. I finally found a GR that gave $19 for NBA street Vol. 3 on Xbox:D .

Check your CCs as I found they restocked mine with 6 more Total Overdoses, but the guy at the counter would only let me buy 3. Also I found some Project Snowblinds at CC for $3.96 as well.

Traded in:

Tube Slider (GC) - $9.50
Dinotopia (GC) - $9.50
Steel Battalion: Line of Contact (XB) - $16
G1 Jockey 3 (PS2) - $19

I think that's about all the goodness that's left from drfrielgood's list, but there were some I didn't bother checking on.

All said and done, I spent $10 in EB credit, $10 in cash, and $5 in GR credit to get $74 GR credit :D

Breakdown:
Clancy Triple Pack for $5 GR credit -> $14.30 at GameStop
G1 Jockey 3 for $16.99 GS credit -> $24 at GameRush

Picked up a dozen clearance games (which still leaves more to grab, but I'm probably done) which will probably net me close to double the $60 credit it cost at EB when I go tomorrow or Monday.

Anecdote for those who are amused by such things:
I walk up to the counter with my two armfuls of games. New guy at the register starts half-jokingly bitching about how he should have stayed on the phone two minutes longer so the other guy would have to check me out and open up all the games. He continues bitching about random stuff, with a fake smile on his face. Then I say I need to go grab trade-ins from my car. And he tells me I'm making their job more difficult. I guarantee I'm one of the easiest customers they ever have to deal with, but ah well. The regular guy who I dealt with when trading in was friendly as always since he knows me by now.

excellent...time to do some shopping tomorrow

~~ now does this include the extra 3.33 that ends in three days?

I'd be scared to see how many Dinotopia, Auto Modellista, Road Trip, Tube Slider, Galleon, and Steel Battalion I've traded in over the last year and a half. Kind of sad to see most of the old favorites take a drop this week!

io, I saw a used Final Fantasy X-2 for $12.99 at a GR today, so that would be about a break-even credit transfer for ya.
excellent...time to do some shopping tomorrow

The prices DO NOT include the 3.33 bonus @ EB/GS. I had to manually filter through the CAGWiki list, just a something to give back to the CAG community. Happy Hunting!

Since I finally found a EB nearby to handle the trade in bonus right I moved quite a bit. All the credit moving posts from a few of you had me jumping on the bandwagon. In the last 4 days I have moved $264 GR credit (63 Games) to $438 EB credit. Since I still have quite a bit of GR credit I may make 1 more trip tomorrow. There is quite a bit of clearance games left at 2 of the GR's near me so its easy to find the games.

Crap... I passed on two Texas Hold 'em (DS) at GR today, didn't think it would get as much as the others I picked up. Ah well, may yet make another trip over there, we shall see.

Some additional trade prices I called about earlier:

PS2
Inuyasha: Secret of the Cursed Mask - $12
Death By Degrees - $1
Did anyone pick up Valkyrie Profile Lenneth from GR? They had display boxes about a week ago but nothing as of Thursday.
Yes (and I did post this yesterday), it actually came in on Friday like their computer said (or they held them for sale until then :bomb:). I was playing it last night :D.

scrapdawg - nice list, but I think it is too late for most people. I went to 2 regular BB's and found one single copy of Soul Calibur II for Xbox - costs $5, trades for $2 (just over $5 with bonus). Yes, I'm reduced to that kind of thing now . I'm still looking for a DS Harry Potter Goblet of Fire and Bomberman for myself...

I did find a few things at a Kmart today though!

Also, in case you all don't know, it looks like the EB deal will be extended past the 25th. We need to figure out which used games from GR trade well at EB now that the clearance stuff is close to wiped out. I'm hoping GR comes through with a Buy 2 Get 1 Free to help with that .

My slowness to go trade things in + Gretzky and Total Overdose dropping three dollars each =

Anyway.
PS2 Total Overdose $9.50
XBX Metal Slug 4 & 5 $12
XBX FSW Ten Hammers $12
PS2 Outlaw Volleyball Remixed $2.50
PS2 Gretzky NHL 06 $9.50
PS2 IHRA Professional Drag Racing $6
And +$5 bonuses on all of them.

If your Best Buy's have them, there are some 2-PS2-game packs in a silver slipcover for $9.99 (or $4.99 after coupon). Don't overlook those. The one I bought had IHRA and Motocross Madness 3 (which wound up not qualifying). There's at least one other variation of the 2-pack. Even if they don't qualify at GR, you'll still profit using it to trade at EB/GS. Of course since I now work at Best Buy, I can't use coupons. So I can't experiment with the other 2-pack, and the other nearby store doesn't have it.

Nice cross-reference list, scrapdawg02! Now if only I didn't spend all that $90-something in credit I just earned on the 3/4-for-$20 DVD sale...
Ys for PS2 is not $9.99 new at GR. Not a clearence game, but a good price.
???

Y's was one of the clearance games when I bought it at 50% off - came up with "coupon" and all. I would imagine it is now $10 after going from 50% to 75% off - unless they removed it for some reason.

What I can't believe is that there would be any left at this point! You guys have some amazing stores... I'm super jealous .

Besides the G1 Jockey 3, can you clarify the others? Where did they come from? I wouldn't mind bringing a few things back to GR credit now that I've found a 3rd regular BB that is doing the $5 deal.

Are these simply EB/GS purchases? It looks like from their prices on the web site this must be so. And yet, when I use the store locator, there is only the '1-3' copy of each game (which usually means just 1) within 40 miles of me and all are at different Gamestops (where I can't use my credit). Damn...

Ah, it looks like there is 1 Tube Slider at an EB where I've traded before. I see now - it is $4.99 used at EB, trades for $14.50 at GR after bonus. Not bad at all, considering it costs nothing to do so :D.
Did anyone pick up Valkyrie Profile Lenneth from GR? They had display boxes about a week ago but nothing as of Thursday.
Thanks io.

Picked up the last copy at GR.

Sorry, yeah... Tube Slider and Dinotopia are 4.99 and 6.99 (I think) at EB/GS. I got those with credit. Steel Battalion I actually paid cash for, $10 at GS, but it was slightly more than double the money, which isn't that great lately, but still worth it, particularly when I double it again going back to EB.

Does Dinotopia for the XBOX count or is it the Gamecube version? I know the XBOX version is only 5 bucks. Thanks.

hey everyone,
i noticed that some games @ the GR i go to do not ring up at the clearance price. notably, SW:KoToR (XBOX), Mortal Kombat: Deception (PS2) and MegaMan X Collection (PS2 and GCN). i had the CSR scan them and they came out as regular selling price... any ideas why this might be?

EDIT: just came back from GR and Donkey Konga 2 w/ bongos is 29.99. :(

At least the MK: Deception is no longer clearanced. The 2-disc Kollector's Edition still is.
