DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

Meh, Exit dropped a bit. That's what I get for waiting to go to the regular BB instead of GR where I am avoiding trading whenever I can due to their credit thievery.

I think I'm done trading for a while. I still have the Ghost Recon 2, as I held on to it to make up another trio. But it will probably just get returned to Target eventually (got it there for $5).

I had to stop the guy at this regular BB from putting the credit on my value card at first because he didn't do the extra $5 - and said he couldn't do it, only the manager could, and I should come back later for the extra $5 per game. WTF!? I KNEW that would be asking for trouble. So he called the manager and got a tutorial on how to apply the bonus :roll:.

Well, Total Overdose got me 9.50 before bonus on Sunday, so...:)
 
Yeah, I got both of those values yesterday, but I know they update trade-in values every Tuesday so I just was curious if they've caught on and dropped them.
 
Alright so with those trade in prices, some of them are higher then what they are making you pay. So you could just search that list find those games and go buy them, turn around and sell them back for a profit.
 
Not sure if Combat Elite is holding, but Total Overdose (PS2) was still getting $9.50 today and Castlvania:Curse of Darkness(Xbox) still is getting $12 before bonuses.

So TO is still $3.98 at CC --> $14.50 after bonus.
And Castlevania is $8.98 at CC ---> $17 after bonus.

I netted $46 for $17 in expenses. Not too shabby.

NCAA 2005 doesn't work, or at least it didn't when they were giving $10 for it and selling it for $9.99. I'm actually not sure now that they fixed that though.

Traded in 3 games as I wanted Tekken on PSP. The below figures are subtracting $5 from each, as I can only assume I got the bump. The cashier knew about it, and they seemed kind of high -- though it's not marked anywhere on the receipt.

Wow. That's kinda crazy that it hasn't been updated yet. That makes a great EB>GR credit transfer, and should be easier to find than most of the used games suited for that purpose.

I thought that was pretty bad but they are buying some games for 50 cents. In most cases the prices are justifiable because the particular games they pay so little for, they can't turn around and sell them for much. I guess what I wonder is why anyone would even bother trading in a game that's only worth 50 cents? I looked up alot of my games, even the better ones that I want to keep and most of them wouldn't even qualify for the promo because their value doesn't exceed 7.99. I wish some of the prices were more updated. It says Psychonauts for PS2 sells to them for 21 bucks. But that was as of the end of January. I highly doubt I would get anywhere near that now.

Anyways, this definitely puts a new perspective on these clearances for me. I've only looked for games that I wanted but didn't think that some of these games trade for more than they cost. Before reading this I would have never thought games like Combat Elite would trade for that much. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle,,,

You mean the wiki used to say $1.25? Because the person reported getting only 25 cents for it, and Botticus updated the wiki to reflect that. Or did you actually go into GR today (Aug 2nd) and get a $1.25 quote?

How do you know they won't qualify for the bonus? Many of the really cheap ones do, because they are only cheap since they were GR clearance games, but their used prices are still over $7.99. It is the USED SALE value that needs to be $7.99 or over, NOT the trade-in value. You might run into employees that are clueless about this, though it is just as likely that you will find others who don't apply ANY restriction. In fact, I wish I had tried one of my Duel Masters last time I was in because I think the guy would have given me the bonus on it (unless it sells for $4.99 then it wouldn't have worked). But, in general, anything that trades for $2.50 and above (as well as many games that trade for even less but YMMV on that) should work with the bonus promo as it is supposed to be applied.

And don't we all wish the prices were completely up-to-date and included every game :rofl:. If you want to know what Psychonauts gets now, call up GR or even a regular BB and ask - then let us know and someone will update the wiki.

EDIT: By the way, if you're looking for that 3rd game to trade in, Vice City is perfect. It's only 5.00 at EB and qualifies for the bonus.

Sorry, I must have checked it right before the update and also missed the report of it getting a quarter. A QUAURTER? That game better be damn cheap on their shelves.

I just reread the first post right before I read yours. I'm a moron. I was indeed thinking the actual trade in value of the game had to exceed 7.99. That changes things immensely.

I will probably check on that soon and report back. It's a great game but I'll probably get it real cheap on PC one of these days as it ain't very pretty on PS2.

And I hate you for having a GR that still has MKD Premium Packs :rofl:

I'd do the Vice City thing but I have this aversion to getting more GR credit. Besides, the manager would probably just decide a week after I traded that it shouldn't be worth that much and "adjust" my account downwards :bomb:.

On a SERIOUS note, what is wierd about this current $5 promo is that we have no clue about the end date and neither do any of the GR/BB employees I've talked to. All they ever do is go look at the signs to figure it out - and of course those don't say. We need to get an idea of the end for those who might do these EB->GR transfers. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be stuck with a used copy of GTA:Vice City :lol:

That's one of the clearance games so it is likely the trade value is artificially low, making the used sale value fairly high in comparison. HOWEVER, I thought they were selling this for $5 new BEFORE any of the sales started. So I'm surprised it would sell for $7.99 or more used - maybe she was just wrong.

Edit - Well, the Xbox version was part of the sale and was originally only $5 anyway (thus $1.25 at 75% off). I'm not sure about the PS2 version.
 
Interesting, i just got back from Gamerush, they had 3 copies of Metroid Prime: First Hunt (yes, the free demo that came with the DS) for $29.99 each. They were stickered however, as the full game, lol.

I really should've asked how much credit it was worth.

I can say I saw the same thing Bezerker did at the local GR in Denton, TX. I noticed about a month ago when looking through the used DS games that they had a used MPH: First Hunt card for $29.99. It's rather silly that they'd be charging $30 for a demo that came with the system....somehow, it's almost safe to say that they think it is the full product and are charging it as such.

I saw the same thing a few months ago at my Gamerush. I almost traded mine in, but I just thought that was too lame -- I'd hate for a kid to buy it thinking it was the real game and then get a demo.

If anyone is going to get Madden then some of the clearance games are worth moving to EB still. Preordered Madden 20% trade in bonus currently active EB, then the 10% edge bonus. I know there are only a few of us with clearance games around still. As far as I know here are the ones worth moving still.

1st GR clearance price, 2nd eb with 20% madden preorder and 10% edge. MK KE you have to trade in seperate as 2 games to get the price below.

It may very by state since they operate under pawn shop laws. For the most part I think you will find every store will require you to set up a trading account and fill out the paperwork.

If it still trades for $19, you'd make $4 on the credit transfer. Not mind-blowing, but makes an easy-to-find filler, especially if you use EB credit from a GR>EB transfer.

Flatout xbox and Exit are $9.50 clearanced at Rhino as well...
