The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.

What I meant was if you pre-ordered a game today, it would be wiped clean from the stoes computer a year later. Atleast thats the experience that happened withme. Even when I worked there it was the same case. There IS a way to get it back, it just requires calling corporate to find it. I would just keep you're receipts anyway...especially with Game Rush.

I don't doubt that that is true - although it seems to be slightly over a year (I'm fairly sure I switched Okami after about 13 months - EDIT - it might have actually, by sheer chance, been JUST under one year - I'd have to find the receipt for the game I switched it to to be sure). However, it sure would be nice if they knew about that. At my store the guy called one of the more experienced GR people and was reassured the preorders never expire. What you are saying is that it is a known fact at GR that they do, in fact, expire. Obviously they never communicated that to my store if that's the case. If it is something they can call corporate about and find out, though, then it ought to be easily fixed.

My question is how did they know your preorder was 1 day from being wiped, gizmogc? Did they get some sort of alert about it in the system? If so, then my GR (and many others) are incompetent for not noticing and/or dealing with that.

If it is one year, I better cancel/reorder my second Zelda too as that will probably expire right before the actual game comes out.

I had the same issue. I went to go pick up my Saints Row,and lo and behold,it wasnt in the system. I have no clue where my receipt is. So i had to do somehting i havent done ever at Gamerush. Buy a game at full retail. I wish i had a way to prove to them that i did have it on preorder. I had that and Gears of War. But Gears shows up. I dont know what to do. Also, whats the corp # for Blockbuster,i need to call them and clear this up.
I need the number for BB corporate too. I checked their site and couldn't find a damn thing.
I'm going to go through my store before I resort to that (I know you said your store manager told you there was nothing he could do). But I figure I'll make THEM call corporate if it comes to that. I shouldn't have to be hassled about this crap. I gave them my money a year+ in advance (an interest free loan) to reserve a copy of this game, they had damn well better take care of it.

The only number for corporate is the regional office number on all your receipts. Other than that you can submit a customer service form on the website, but that takes a few days.

Just called my GR and good news (for a change!), Star Fox DS is in! They did not have Disgaea 2, but that's to be expected. They did get Xenosaga III today as well, though I didn't preorder that (hoping to get it like the first 2 at < $10 later). Anyway, some slight signs of life for GR (actually getting a DS game in and getting a slightly obscure PS2 game that no one even preordered).

No word about my missing preorders though. When I go in to pick up Star Fox I'm going to have to talk to the manager (they said he was late today and not in yet ).

Buster90 - I'll try to remember to check for Enchanted Arms when I go in.

Mine had Enchanted Arms for rental, but none for purchase. They suggested I rent one and keep it... I was not amused. No Halo 2 copies either, and a poor selection in general it seemed.

My zelda preorder is no longer in the system and I can't locate my receipt for the transaction. Does anyone know when the last trade 2 get a preorder for $29.99 ended?(I think it may have been early September, 2005). I also worry about the copy of FFXII I have on preorder at another store.
Mine had Enchanted Arms for rental, but none for purchase. They suggested I rent one and keep it... I was not amused. No Halo 2 copies either, and a poor selection in general it seemed.
They let you buy the rental copies, give you the cases and instructions. Only thing is that you dont get to open it yourself.

Well, pretty wierd, but my GR had multiple Star Fox for sale, multiple Xenosaga III, and it looks like 2 copies of Enchanted Arms. No Disgaea 2 though.

As for my preorders, I had said my Zelda one was a bit strange - it DOES show in my account history even though it is from March 2005 (and yet doesn't show on their internal list of upcoming preorders to deliver). The FF XII one is flat gone though. What they told me is that they will have to contact Tech Support and get them to look at the entire account histiry and find it - that should take about a week. We'll see - I fully expect no action to have been taken by next Friday :D.

The wierd thing is that they really don't need to look at the full history. They printed what was in the system now, and it seemed to show all the details about cancelled or switched preorders since the time I started trading there. I guess what it wouldn't show is if I picked up a preorder - but then, I could hardly pick up FF XII, coud I? But I guess they don't trust me and want to look at the whole history - whatever... They were very apologetic about it though. As long as they fix it within a few weeks that's fine with me.

The manager still wasn't there, but they had called him to find out about the tech support thing. He also told them preorders never expire. Hopefully tech support has seen enough of these cases the last month or two and they will set him straight .
They let you buy the rental copies, give you the cases and instructions. Only thing is that you dont get to open it yourself.
Didn't they just change the policy so that you don't get the rental price deducted from the sale if you keep something? So now you pay the $7.99 (or whatever it costs to rent) then have to pay the full used price - so it will end up being more than new.
I don't doubt that that is true - although it seems to be slightly over a year (I'm fairly sure I switched Okami after about 13 months - EDIT - it might have actually, by sheer chance, been JUST under one year - I'd have to find the receipt for the game I switched it to to be sure). I beleive my GR printed up a list once a month to check all the pre-orders. They noticed mine and called me. I still has my original receipt and it was a day before it would have been a full year.

As for knowing 100% for sure....no. I just remember when I started there we had pre-orders on some DVDs that were mispriced (Like a complete Star Trek Season for $19.99 that was mispriced and people tried to special order) popped up. Said they have 1 day to pick up or cancel before its removed from the stores system. After that they would have to get a 'download' to get the info back in the system.

Exactly what I was thinking. I don't mind it being open, it's the first day and I know it's in perfect shape. It's just that I don't like being punished for their incompetence by paying a few bucks more.

Hmmm... So I wonder if they did this "download" on my Zelda and that's why it is still (sort of) there but not on my FF XII... We'll see what they say in a week.

Well after reading the last few posts about "missing" preorders--I decide to take a little friday night drive down to my local GR. I haven't stepped foot inside the store ever since they hired a bunch of new people who didn't have a clue as to what the heck was going on with the GR section.

My ONLY pre-order left was Zelda for GC. I still have my original receipt, although it is faded to the point where you can make out the majority of the text, but I can't seem to find/read the date I made the pre-order. It is however before the name change to "Twilight Princess".

Anyway, I try to look up my pre-orders, and lo and behold "I am not showing any pre-sells". The employee tells me to come back tomorrow in the afternoon to speak with a manager, because he can go more in depth into my account. Am I wrong in assuming he's going to tell me the same thing and i'll get shafted because "it's not in our system" even though I have the original receipt?

I'm going to of course explain that "I've heard from a friend..." the whole preorders over a year old story, etc. But somehow with the caliber of staff at my local GR, i'd be willing to bet that they'll just say "sorry, nothing I can do about that".

What can I do about it if my local GR management won't help me?

Interesting reading... just more validation for my strong anti-pre-order stance. I wish you guys luck in getting it sorted. Blockbuster doesn't give a damn about customers once you get above any relationship you've built up with local employees.

Being against pre-orders is one thing, but this is Blockbusters fault.
Being against pre-orders is one thing, but this is Blockbusters fault.
Exactly - and let's not forget, I'm sure ALL of these Zelda/FF XII preorders CAG's are talking about from a year and a half ago were made using the Trade 2 get any preorder for $29.99 deal (in combination with the $5 bonus per game that was running at the time and most locations allowed you to combine, not to mention the already generous trade-in prices). So, these preorders cost us very little in used games/credit to secure. Otherwise, there's no way I would have preordered them so far in advance (though at the time both games were set to come out in the Fall of 2005).

Just to end on a good note (about a game that actually came in):
My son and I played a multi-player (single cart) Star Fox match and he kicked my ass. He's 6 by the way . To be fair, he had played the tutorial levels first and I hadn't tried it at all before playing him, but still.... I'll have to play tonight while he's asleep to catch up to him. What that proved for me, though, is that I'm not ready for WiFi matches yet!

Are there other preordered titles besides Zelda/FFXII that are getting erased?

Just wondering since I haven't encountered problems yet, (knock on wood) with my Gears of War that was preordered in June 2005. It was still in their system when I picked up Madden a couple of weeks ago. Also I'm pretty sure I've had other titles in the system that were in for more than a year, but with GoW I know for certain since I still have the receipt. Just to be on the safe side though, I think I'll cancel GoW since it's my last preorder and just hold onto the credit myself.

And finally I've also had an experience with a game being erased before. Earlier this summer I was called in by a manager to come in and switch a preorder, Quake IV (xbox - it never was released), because she said there was a notice that it was being removed and I had to switch the credit to another game. At the time, I thought I had to switch it because it was a cancelled title and GR was finally removing it from their system, but I just I checked the receipt and the preorder's lifespan was about to hit 1 year so I guess that could have been the reason. Just thought I would mention that considering the current problem with preorders.
Are there other preordered titles besides Zelda/FFXII that are getting erased?
I think someone had an Okami disappear on them. I probably would have had problems with that and Gran Turismo Mobile if I hadn't switched them to other things a few months back. The only old preorders I had left were Zelda and FF XII.
Exactly - and let's not forget, I'm sure ALL of these Zelda/FF XII preorders CAG's are talking about from a year and a half ago were made using the Trade 2 get any preorder for $29.99 deal.
Not all -- having issues here with a disappearing Zelda preorder from the "Trade 2, get any preorder for $34.99" deal that came in the February BEFORE the $29.99 deal.
Just wondering, do you need a blockbuster card to buy games? My family has one, however, I don't think I'm on the list.
Nope.. You don't need one to purchase..

Sent an email through Blockbuster's online form regarding my erased preorders for Zelda and Okami. I should receive a response in the next 3-5 days.

What other games have people pre-ordered 1+years ago that have not come up? Obviously there are going to be a ton, but I think the majority of people placed it on Zelda.

Its funny how the pre-order autodeletes after 1 year and so do the receipts. The ink just fades so damnfast!

This happened to me when I tried to get my KH2 copy and I lost all my receipts then. You can claim all your transactions through filling a form in the store. The results will probably come back in about a week to prove that you really preordered the games.
Awesome news about Starfox. I will go out tomorrow and snag that.
Let me know when you get it and we'll play a match :D.

I've gotten through a few story missions - but I can only do one per sitting as my hands cramp up WAY too fast in this game.

As for the preorders - interesting that everyone says you have to fill out a form in the store?? At my store they said they would put in a request to tech support (at BB) for the history but said nothing about me having to fill anything out. I'll probably go in there in a week expecting to see my preorders back and they will tell me nothing happened because I need to fill out a form . (And of course they won't call me in the meantime to let me know about that).

Well, I'll be in there next Friday (or hopefully Weds) anyway to pick up Loco Roco.

Picked up Star Fox Command and Enchanted Arms yesterday. Double-checked, and my Zelda preorder (Gamecube version) is still there. My receipt says I preordered it in the later part of October 2005.

You may want to cancel and reorder that then (or switch it to the Wii version) - otherwise it will probably disappear just in time for the game's release .

Will do... I figure I'll go over there tomorrow as well as a couple other stores on the lovely day off. Done too much driving this weekend, so I need a break.

Yeah, I probably should. She even made a point that it was rescheduled for a "November release". Originally, I just preordered it just to preorder something before the deal died.

With the return of the EB/GS $10 bonus (on 3 games) trade-in deal we need to start compiling a list of good GR trade-ins. Since most of the clearance games are gone, we need to look at used games.

Having said that, I was shocked to see 2 copies of Metroid Prime 2 in the store today. They must have had them in the back from before. I snagged 'em both (still $5).

I looked through the used games briefly to see if there were any good candidates. What with the pricing not necessarily up to date that can be difficult.

But here are some options:

Halo 2 - $19.99 at GR, gets $20 at EB/GS for a limited time, plus the bonus.
The only complete copy at my store had obviously been disc doctored so I passed. They had a disc only copy (in the clear casing) that looks like it had TWO discs in it. If that is two copies of Halo 2, then I might just get that and trade them both in separately (of course) to EB. Damn, I should have just done that when the clueless employee was there tonight.

Future Tactics (PS2) - $2.99
Fantavision - $2.99

Any game that costs $2.99 (especially in GR credit) is a good one because it will get a minimum of $4.40 at EB/GS if it qualifies. And I see nothing in the restrictions that would make those 2 not work (unless they pull out a random list of restricted titles tomorrow).

There must be a bunch more $2.99 games at GR - I was only able to look through 1/4 of the PS2 section tonight.

Since it's a nice relaxing holiday tomorrow and I have nothing else going on, I should have time to actually check out the used games at GR when I pick up Starfox. I will keep an eye out for things.

Though with all these preorders, I don't have a whole lot of credit to transfer - assuming they all get fulfilled.

Mor elikely it's the 2 discs of the collector's edition. Someone must've wanted to keep the fancy box

Well, crap... just looked on my Zelda preorder receipt, and I preordered it last July. So I bet when I go there today and ask about it, it will be gone. Ah well. Maybe a manager will be there on Labor Day? Yeah, probably not.

D'oh!

Good luck .

Not that I expected anything, but when I was in yesterday no credit on my account or notice of any kind (but I didn't bother asking about them because there was a newbie employee and a person who doesn't even know how to deliver preorders).

Well I went into two GR today, becuase I noticed that I had pre-orders dated 7/21 (Okami) and 7/23 (Bully). Both stores did not have the pre-orders in. The store with Okami is going to do an account history to try and find it. I know they are going to see so many pre-orders, trade-ins, etc... But the other store said I had to wait until the store manager came in to fix th problem. I can't believe that the pre-orders would just disappear after 1 year. What a stupid thing to do.

It was indeed missing. Clueless employees working on a holiday, didn't even have a suggestion of what to do. I'm not going to waste my time, I'll just call the DM tomorrow and get them working on straightening out the problem.

Hopefully they don't retroactively ban me for all my trade-ins.

It could happen. I once got a used BattleStar Galactica (PS2) at Blockbuster and it had 3 discs inside, the BSG game (still haven't played it) Sphinx (traded it in to GS as part of the 3/$10 deal) and ICO (kept it).

Should also mention I picked up Starfox Command. And once again, a GameRush employee who doesn't seem to understand why people do business with his store. I got the "Wow, you sure do preorder a lot of games!"

I never understood a rhetorical question like that from a store employee. Do they want me to not preorder so many games from them?

I thought gamerush was coming to its end soon with the low everything they've been doing and getting. well to my surprise I actually saw a Disgaea 2 for sale!!! first NIS game new they have ever had is the world coming to an end?

I've had at least three games disappear this way, I have tried a couple of times to get my complete account history and my requests never go anywhere.
