System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Older News:

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Trade-In Price Wiki
I snatched up a used copy of Daxter for 14.99!!!!
Yah, I thought about grabbing that for $14.99 as I saw it in the case, but my Gamerush is so stocked up on PSP games and I've got like a 2-year backlog of games to play, so I'll wait until it hits $6.99.

Oh, did I mention my Gamerush had a new Guitar Hero bundle with game + guitar? First time I've seen that at a Gamerush. Strange they got in finally after it's been out so long. I think it was $65-70...I wish they'd had it when I had a ton of Gamerush credit...I would have bought it just for the second guitar. Maybe if they start the extra $5 deal back up again.

With buying Full Auto, Burnout Revenge and Far Cry Predator, that is 6 360 games and no 360 yet. I plan on getting one next month.

They got Mario vs DK 2 in today. It was somewhat encouraging that, just like Star Fox and Mario Hoops, they got 3-4 copies (1 of which was my preorder). That is better than before. However, they didn't get Mage Knight, which I preordered ages ago. I just bought it at EB and will give GR another week and then just cancel it there.

As for my preorder credit, the DM apparently didn't want to take responsibility for giving me the credit so they are passing it on to the "loss prevention" guy to sign off on it... And the saga continues. I envy you people who were able to have the store managers handle it themselves - no one in my store's chain of command wants to make the decision.

Trade 3 deal still running - I'll have to make one more trip.

I'm STILL looking for Shadow Hearts, Ape Escape 3, and Gradius Collection - got one lead on the last 2... Looking for trade only (either games from GR or BB gift cards).

I mentioned this in the last thread. Its 69.99 + tax.

Funny how this thread was on fire with trade in values not too long ago. Now it's all about scoring cheap games games from GR instead of scoring great trade in prices! I was able to get a couple of the $7 PSP games and a 360 College Hoops 2k6 so you know, I'm right there with everybody contributing to the game buying frenzy. Man I love being a CAG! Has the trade value of the 2 $10 360 been reported here yet?

Funny how not too long ago this thread was all about the great trade in deals we could get at GR and now it's hot with info on scoring cheap games at GR! Of course, I know this is because we all love to get cheap ass games and because of the trade in deal at EB/Gamestop. So, whatever the reason, I love being a part of this community. Now, does anyone know the trade in value of the 2 $10 360 games? Thanks in advance.

Look at it this way Money, remember saving for and finally getting a console and realizing you had to drop anywhere from $20 to $50 for a game to actually play on it? Well you won't have this problem when you do pick up a 360. =)
As for my preorder credit, the DM apparently didn't want to take responsibility for giving me the credit so they are passing it on to the "loss prevention" guy to sign off on it... And the saga continues.
You and Botticus both mentioned something along these lines. What (or where) is the full story?
Funny how not too long ago this thread was all about the great trade in deals we could get at GR and now it's hot with info on scoring cheap games at GR!
The only fault with thie reasoning your leading to is that these are deals on brand new games and not the games we all traded in.

At EBGS? $5 credit for College Hoops. The wiki says $10 for NHL, but I asked yesterday for a few trade in values, and while I forgot to write that one down, I believe it's down to $7.

As a rule, you don't pick up sports titles for trading, as they're almost always excluded from promotions (such as EBs current trade in 3, get an extra $10 credit excludes all sports and wrestling games) and sports titles trade in values drop like a rock after the first couple months.
I saw Metal Gear Acid 2 for 9.99 used. Maybe they mislabeled it?
It is $9.99 used. It's $14.99 new.

kojubat is helping me out with Gradius and Ape Escape.

Still looking for Shadow Hearts FtNW - looking for trade only, either, say, a $25 BB gift card or an equivalent game (any GH/PC/PH title or other $20 game in addition to the current drops).

Dang Guinaevere! Thanks for your info on values regarding the 360 games. I can see where it seemed like I wanted to know the EB values. Sorry, I was asking for the GR values since this is the GR thread. I'm well aware of the limitations at EB.
.
You can look back through the last GR thread to see all the sordid details, but here's the summary. Lots of people put down preorders last summer (as in 2005) using the Trade 2 $29.99 deal for games like Zelda and FF XII that ended up getting delayed until this Fall. Apparantly, GR preorders clear out after 1 year with no notice, so a lot of those preorders went up in smoke. Some people had problems with Okami too.

I checked on my Zelda and FF XII preorders and they had no record of them whatsoever. After bugging my store repeatedly they finally called tech support and found out about the 1 year limit. Tech support saw that I had, indeed, preordered those games (the corporate records go back more than 90 days). They also verified that I didn't cancel or switch them any time since then (by looking through my entire account history - frightening thought there). Should have been case closed at that point - "here's your $99.98 credit back, sorry for all the trouble". But NO, like I said, no one at my store or at the district level wants to be held responsible for granting that much credit so they keep talking to other people to get permission (and cover their asses). I assume I will get it eventually, but what a pain. Others have gotten the credit easily + free rentals for their trouble, and others have been told they can only get $29.99 since they used that preorder deal. Their handling of this situation is all over the place.
Just picked up a copy of Rub Rabbits (DS) for $15 new at Blockbuster. Wanted to share.
Dang. Now I regret picking up Metroid Prime Pinball for $15. Oh well, I'll pick this up later, I still have $3 in credit left over from that trade 3 get $5 deal.

Went to burn up some credit on the Guitar Hero at the store on Sepulveda and Manhattan Beach Blvd and someone beat me to both bundles. Oh well, the remaining $250 should cover the Wii assuming they are stocked at launch.

Picked up a new copy of Gradius and a used Death Jr today. As always the clerk was amazed these were so cheap.

Now I just need to grab a copy of Wipeout Pure and Hot Shots.

Went to GR for some cheap 360 titles but came out empty handed. Interesting thing was the guy in front of me was trying to trade in a couple of DS games, but was turned down. Apparently they stopped accepting DS games for trade. Has this happened to anyone?

There is one Gamerush near my house with an incredibly stupid manager who says the PSP games sell great while DS and GBA don't sell at all. This, of course, isn't supported by the fact that they were always out of DS/GBA games when they had them yet they still have 10 copies of every PSP launch game in the store. This same guy also says the PSP is outselling the DS nationwide, which has to be one of the dumbest comments I've heard in a while. Everyone knows Nintendo is still killing Sony in the portable market.

Most of the other Gamerush stores in town, however, have and sell a ton of GBA/DS stuff and barely any PSP stuff. I think it depends on the store manager to a degree, or for some reason corporate is deciding to make some stores focus on certain systems and other stores focus on other systems based on customer demographics or something.

You should have bought them....

I saw the Guitar Hero there the other day. I have no interest in it. But they had one in West LA yesterday when I was the store at Barrington and National...if you're still interested.

One more thing to note: XBOX 360 version of NBA 2k6 used rang up for $24.99 yesterday....

I can confirm the reports of "Rub Rabbits" for the DS being $15. I just went and picked one up this afternoon after seeing it mentioned. It most definately is ringing up at that price.
You can look back through the last GR thread to see all the sordid details
Thanks! That's what I was wanting, just a thread so you wouldn't have to spend your time re-telling a frustrating story.

but here's the summary.
What a gentleman, you still took the time to tell me. Thanks to much!

And now I can understand the general wariness and/or dislike of BBGR.

I generally don't do pre-orders as I don't like tying up capital in a (potentially) unconfirmed transaction. Even trade-ins... now when they had where you trade in a couple used game and could get a new game for (I forget the price, but it was pretty dang cheap!) I traded a couple crummy games and picked up Cold Fear xbox brand new for dirt cheap at GameRush... but it was in stock.

And I'm a very patient person. I once stubbornly suffered with a defunct pc mouse for almost three years because I refused to spend any more money or those icky off-white/beige colored mice that were all you could get during the mid-90s. (yes, over the years, I've done the waiting in line to pick up first thing in the morning of release, but that's so rare. And for the first time in years, I didn't do that for the 360.) I've got more than enough going on in life to keep me busy *sighs* and more than enough games waiting to be played before I have to grab a brand new one on release.

A few get me excited. Half-Life 2 for the pc... that was picked up release day. And... that's about all I can think of for the past four or five years.

But essentially, I enjoy hunting for bargains on things I'm wanting to pick up. That's a good part of the fun right there.

Oh hey, I'm an idiot, what can I tell you? It was an assumption I had made because

a) Except for rare cases, one can't make a profit trading in to stores you bought new from and the Trade 3, get an extra $5 credit per game is hightly YMMV so I thought folks would be wanting to take advantage of the trade 3, get an extra $10 total which is a sure thing at EB.
b) There has been an anti-GR vibe where folks expressed their discontent with the pre-owned selection.

Sorry for causing you such distress over supplying the EB trade-in prices. May your troubled heart be rested, next time I shall refrain from offering any unwarranted advice in your direction.

Some trade-in prices (remember those?) from 10/1:

GC - Lemony Snicket: $2.50
PS2 - Ace Combat 4: $4.25
PS2 - Ratchet & Clank GC: $6
PS2 - Shellshock Nam: $7
PS2 - World Champ Poker: $2.50
Xbox - Mechassault 2: $1
Xbox - Mercenaries: $6

Total after $5/game bonus , $64.25

I don't know who's lurking here and hitting up my store, but most of the recently dropped new and used PSP games were gone, including the multiple used copies of HSG :whistle2:k. They were actually tagged $6.99, so I suppose it could just be random shoppers.

And that is precisely why we all had these old preorders - it was the same deal, trade 2 games, get a preorder for a $50 game for just $29.99 (plus the trade credit of course!), making, for most of us, the games only cost about $15 out of pocket. We were willing to put up with GR shenanigans to get things like FF XII or Zelda for $15. But then when they went and 'lost' them, that was a different matter .

Wow, you really make me feel bad. No more extra $5 deal here. Ended long time ago even though Gamerush.com still has it on.
Anyway, I picked up a ninja gaiden used for $4.99. not too bad for a good game.

3 stores later and I have all 5 games I wanted. I love store credit obtained by trade-in deals! I also now have 4 360 games and I don't even own a system yet.

Yeah, see, I felt bad for you guys posting my $5 bonus trades - then I remembered that most of you have access to the riches of multiple GR stores to find the clearance games and now these new price drops, not to mention a good selection of regular games. So I don't feel so bad getting to use the trade 3 deal a couple months longer than most of you :D.

i haven't been checking this thread ever since i was so disappointed with GR's non-getting games like tetris and MPH and then odama. anyway, stopped by tonight at my GR for the first time in like 6 months, they have this trade 3 get +$5 per trade deal going. what's the best games to flip for that? i don't have much stock.

picked up Far Cry, and Burnout Revenge for 360, I was trying to find NHL2K6, but no luck. Thanks again OP, I might come back for Full Auto.

I scored a Burnout Revenge for 360 as well... Saw it used, and checked the price and they wanted $15 more than new ($35 instead of $20).

Might pick up another title or 2, not sure yet....

Hell, even MY GR got Tetris and Odama in (they still have 2 copies of Odama - I wish they'd drop THAT one of these days, I think it is $29.99 now), just not MPH.

As for what to trade for the $5 bonus should you be lucky enough to still have it running (as I do) - see KMART. Pretty much the same games that work for EB trade-in are good for GR. Some are better at one vs the other. There are a few that don't qualify at GR, but there are others that get much better credit at GR - like Shellshock Nam, Mercenaries, Getaway Black Monday... Just check out the wiki - I've updated prices for most of those games at both stores :D.

So, MOST of the PSP games had appropriate used price drops (like HSG, $9.99 new, $6.99 used). But for some reason they forgot Ape Escape On The Loose - it is $9.99 new, but still $14.99 or $19.99 used . Oh well, like all the other used versions, it will drop eventually.

Guinaevere, why such sarcasm? I thought your original response to me was sincere so I was responded in kind. I can see my "troubled heart" was in error. I do appreciate the EB values you posted, thank you!

Oh well, like all the other used versions, it will drop eventually.
oh i meant they didn't get them when the games came out. it took them like a month. anyway, we have no k-marts around here :(. any other suggestions?

Some places to check:

Check the CC clearance games from this spring.
Sears has some cheap games on clearance.
Target has a few.

There aren't many deals to be had in the DFW area.

Your best bet would be (flipping) the sub $5 games at EB/GS then trading in at GR.

BTW, all the GR around my area have stopped this. Did yours still have the signage up?
We were willing to put up with GR shenanigans to get things like FF XII or Zelda for $15. But then when they went and 'lost' them, that was a different matter .
=) I haven't had any bad experiences with GR, so the only shenanigans I'd have experienced would be if they up and lost my pre-order. Despite the price, to go and lose your credit and reservation... that's a hassle. Here's a question for y'all, do you still have any of your receipts for these?
No more extra $5 deal here. Ended long time ago even though Gamerush.com still has it on.

Am I the only person who can't find that on gamerush.com anywhere?
Guinaevere, why such sarcasm? I thought your original response to me was sincere so I was responded in kind.
As I say, I'm an idiot. It sounded as if I was being berated for answering.

Sincerest apologies, eraser. I completely mis-interpreted your earlier post and my response was not kind.
i haven't been checking this thread ever since i was so disappointed with GR's non-getting games like tetris and MPH and then odama. anyway, stopped by tonight at my GR for the first time in like 6 months, they have this trade 3 get +$5 per trade deal going. what's the best games to flip for that? i don't have much stock.
I'm near Plano so could you post what store is still currently doing the 3 get +$5?

Added the first three price drops I know about for this week, but I haven't gotten my hands on the full list yet.

The used versions of Battalion Wars, Chibi Robo, and Fire Emblem for the Gamecube all dropped to $9.99. The new versions of those games are still around $30.

The trade-in price for College Hoops 2K6 for Xbox 360 is $2.

Also, it appears that GameRush is finally restocking Xbox 360 Marketplace Points so if you want to blow some credit on those, here's your chance. Unfortunately, it looks like they only received one per store.

Anyone know the trade in value for NBA 2K6 and NHL 2K6 and Tiger Woods 06 (all 360)? I would assume they are getting about the same as College Hoops 2K6 (which sucks)

Well, of course, I had my receipts. Others didn't have theirs. However, it makes little difference as they don't know if you cancelled or switched the game since then. After all, I preordered those games in April 2005. I didn't have proof that I DIDN'T switch them to something else since then - thus, they had to check with tech support at BB headquarters and have them look through my entire account history (which I can tell you would be a pain!).

But my frustration is that they did figure out my preorders were lost and not, in fact, switched, and yet they can't just give me the damn credit back because no one wants to take responsibility for that. The DM has already passed the buck so I'm not sure where I could go if they don't sort it out themselves. And every step of the way, I've had to prod them to take action, otherwise they forget about it (or hope I will).

Shipwreck, I wonder if those 3 $10 used GC games are worth anything as EB trade-in fodder? Not that my store probably has any of them, but they might have some GR->EB trade-in potential if anyone else is still looking. Though now I'm not so keen on transferring too much more credit as it seems more likely I'll actually get the Wii and PS3 from GR than from EB! (OK, just looked at the wiki - Fire Emblem gets a pathetic $7 at EB, I wonder why? It isn't a $20 game, new, yet. Chibi is listed at $17 but that's an old price from June. No price on Battalion Wars).
