System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Older News:

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.
I don't think EB would care too much if you cancelled your preorder, then at least one person who comes in the store without a preorder on launch day can get surprised with a "Yes, we do have one."
I suppose - it is more pissing off the manager because he has been very helpful in going out of his way to to make sure I have the preorders (so far on the PS3 and I assume on the Wii as well). But you're right, I'm sure they can sell it regardless.

I have been out of the gamerush game for quite a few months now. If anyone could update me on whether or not those rumors on GameRush getting closed down were true, it would be apprecaited. :)

Not yet, and nothing concrete that we've heard. Mine still seems to be operating as usual - and expecting to get the new systems/games in.

There haven't been many good game trade in deals listed lately. I have watched the Wiki Trade in list, but many prices are outdated. Anyone find any good games to purchase and then trade in to GR? I need to build credit to get a 360 and a Nintendo DS.

Thanks,

vgc

Well, you'll hate me for this then :D.
I STILL have the $5 extra deal running at my GR.
Got the following before bonus:

PS2 King of Fighters MI: $9.50
PS2 R&C GC: $2.50 (damn, just realized this dropped from $6, would have saved for EB)
Xbox Mercenaries: $6

But the most interesting thing at GR tonight was that they had a stack of 5 Wii retail boxes set up in a display! While it is not proof that they will be getting the systems in, it is a damn good sign and, I think, more than counters the rumors here that GR wasn't getting any new hardware in this Fall!

I was able to hold the Wii box in my hands - they are set up like the rectangular Nintendo game promo boxes (thick cardboard with the same folding tabs in the back - which I am very familiar with as I was just hanging a few in my son's room yesterday), but they look much like the retail Wii boxes that I have seen pics of on the web. They even include the box contents, copyright info, etc, along one side.

For what it's worth, the nearby GS and EB had NO such display :D.

PS - While I was there, a couple asked about PS3 preorders and were wondering how many the store might get, etc... Of course they didn't know. But I felt bad for them, as the call list was up to 25 - they aren't getting one till next year, if at all, from GR .

But the call list doesn't mean anything. I was like #40 on the 360 preorder call list, but was the first one to actually preorder a system (thanks to a heads up here). I actually knew they were able to take preorders before those employees did

I got the info about the 360 pre order on here as well; and was one of the five to get one on launch day.

Regarding the ps3 allotment numbers/preorders

There are several retailers who will carry the PS3, but will be getting so few units during Q4 of this year, that they're not doing preorders at all. Several chains had so many headaches over the 360, that they've re-evaluated the pros of preording consoles vs selling first come first serve when/if they get any.
I went in last night and asked yet another clueless employee about the PS3 release. I told him it comes out in November and I'm already on the call list. The employee then told me that it was pushed back into December for release. I asked if he was sure and he said he was.

Are you still out there by chance with trade price updates Jammer?
It's very possible GAMERUSH won't get the PS3 until December. My local stores got the 360s a week or two late...only got in 1 or 2...then got like 1 in every 2 weeks after that. It took them 6 months to fill their preorders.
I have been out of the gamerush game for quite a few months now. If anyone could update me on whether or not those rumors on GameRush getting closed down were true, it would be apprecaited. :)
Those were moronic rumors that have been around since Gamerush opened. It doesn't really matter if Gamerush did go under, Blockbuster has sold video games (previously viewed, at least) for 20 years now and they always will unless the entire chain goes under. Even then, some one would step up to fill the void.

Hmm... consider this unconfirmed right now as I didn't check the register for the price, but I saw Jak 3 (PS2) used with a $6.99 sticker on it. Might be worth checking into if anyone was looking to pick it up or it could just be tagged wrong.

I need alittle help. I went to GC and asked the price for Burnout Revenge and Far Cry Predator for Xbox 360. Both games were $39.99. I saw on the first page that they are $20. Is this still true, or did they go up?

Umm, did you go to GameCrazy or GameRush? They are still $20 at GameRush but they are $40 at GameCrazy.

Well, that is store-specific to be sure. My store stuck to the call list like glue last year for the 360. They called the first 8 (or however many it was they thought they would get it) and let them preorder first (though I'm assuming they had some time limit like 48 hours to get the preorder done). Then they doled out the consoles when they came in according to the call list, NOT the order they were actually preordered in. I can only assume they will do the same for PS3 and Wii. They do have a preference for "paid in full" preorders, but I'm not sure if that made a difference or not on the 360 (I didn't get one). I will be doing that in any case as I might as well not have the credit sitting on cards at home. Though they better not "disappear" my preorder like with those games :D.

That's a YMMV thing though. My GameRush got 9 360's in, and they had a few more come in after that.

Same here. I picked mine up at midnight Launch and I know that they got more in throughout the months.

Still no PS3 pre-order. Stopped and used a free rental. Someone actually called and asked while I was there. There is a call list of TWO sheets already. Luckily, I'm #1 on the list....so I hope to get one.

You hope to get one? You had better damn well get one, being first on the list. I'm #2 and I'm assuming I will get one at launch. I'll be in there again tonight - will see if the manager has any more info (getting the Wii display boxes is interesting - has anyone else seen these?).

I should say my local THIRTY stores as there are around 30 Gamerush/Blockbuster stores within an hour of me. Whenever there's a good sale, I spend a day driving to all of them. I was driving to all of them around Christmas last year picking up copies of DDR Mario Mix that were collecting dust, so I kept pretty good tabs on store inventories for about half of this state.

I went to 12 Gamerush stores before I found a DS Lite when those launched, but I've seen plenty of black and pink DS Lites at GR lately so it looks like they ordered a lot more of those or the demand isn't there yet (probably will fly off the shelves in November though, especially the pink one).

I am going in tomorrow to see if they have any Wii/PS3 stuff up. Hopefully one of us will hear about the pre-orders at some point. I still have enough credit to get a PS3, so hopefully they will be getting it in. I have to think that most GR will get 2 or 3 since EB/Gamespot got such a lower percentage than I thought they would. You have to think that Sony would want to keep business with BB in general, with the amount of games BB buys for rental.

The people there tonight wouldn't know anything about preorders, so I didn't bother asking (the Wii stuff is still up, no PS3).

Shipwreck - you can add Tak 3 used for GC at $6.99 to the price drops (you have the new for $10 already). I picked one up for EB trade padding. It has got to get at least $4 there before bonus.

Here's another one: Kirby Canvas Curse DS $19.99 new.

They STILL haven't dropped the used prices on a few games - Shadow Hearts FtNW still $34.99, Zelda 4 Swords still $24.99.

I got a couple of trade quotes that are downright pathetic, all for Gamecube:
Battalion Wars: $2.50
Chibi-Robo: $2.50
Custom Robo: $6 (OK, this isn't too bad)
Fire Emblem: $2.50 (criminal - and I thought $7 at EB was bad)

I realize they sell those $2.50 ones for just $10 now, used, but that is pretty bad. Of course, they have no used copies at my store but still have new Battalion Wars and Fire Emblem for $29.99 .

I printed off the EB trade-in price page from the Wiki and scoured the used game section. I found the following break-even, or perhaps better games: Xbox Hobbit ($4.99, gets $1 or $2 at EB), Xbox Terminator Dawn of Fate ($2.99, no worse than $1 at EB), GC Tak Great Juju Challenge ($6.99, hoping for $4-$6 at EB), PS2 Power Rangers Dino Thunder ($4.99, marked as $5 in the wiki, but that's an old quote).

There were a few more $4.99 and even more $6.99 games but, as extensive as the EB trade-in price wiki is, it was missing nearly all of the cheap games GR had. I had to pick up a few things to pad my Poker World Championship games from Kmart .

I might drive down to one if they do.

NO Clubhouse Games in at GR today - very disappointing (especially when they tell you for the last 2 days "Sir, that is scheduled to come out Friday!").

Anyway, I traded the games I got at GR yesterday to EB today. Time is running short for credit transferring (as the EB $10 deal ends Sunday). But I was able to xfer these:

GC Tak 3 ($6.99) -> $3 (near $7 after bonus)
Xbox Hobbit ($4.99) -> $1.50
Xbox Term 3 Dawn of Fate ($2.99) -> $1
PS2 Power Rangers Dino Thunder ($4.99) -> $5 (the best one by far)

Today I picked up a Blinx 2 and Gunvalkyrie for $4.99 each. Those will be even-trades after the bonus, but I just need things to pad my World Champ Pokers, PLUS I want to transfer some more credit since I preordered the Wii + accessories at EB today. I may just skip getting one at GR, but that will be a bit frustrating if they continue to be late (and never) on games that I want. I'm not hopeful they will get Contact next week. I'd hate to chew up all my EB credit on hardware and then not be able to get the games at GR (especially if GR does get the hardware).

I talked with the GR manager today. I was told that they are going by the call list once they can begin taking pre-orders (I am number 2 on the PS3 list). Once they get the numbers they will start calling people on the list and you will have 24 hours to put down $100, and if you don't the pre-order goes to the next person on the list. He told me to call every Monday evening to see if they have any information, I guess they get the weekly information on Monday. So hopefully GR will be getting in the new systems.

I think each store will run it different though.....I better get one. It will be a nice X-mas for the family if I do ;)

I have noticed they have restocked some of the new cheap 360 games listed in the OP , so you might want to check again if you were looking for something and didn't have any luck.

Good news - Clubhouse Games apparently came in yesterday. Why GR sent this store several display copies 2 weeks ago I have no idea, as the only real copy they got was my preorder .

The Wii display boxes are still there, but nothing for PS3 yet (and of course no preorder info). They did have a new Wii poster up behind the register though, so that was nice. The local GS finally got the same Wii boxes plus a big poster and several PS3 items, including game display boxes (for preorders).

Trade 3 get an extra $5 STILL running at my store. 8-[

PS2 - King of Fighters MI CE - $12
PS2 - World Champ Poker - $1.25
Xbox - Mercenaries - $6
GC - Need For Speed Underground - $1.25

I hesitated on the last one, as that was from my personal collection (and usually I keep everything). But I figured with Burnout 3 half played and Burnout Revenge, F-Zero GX, and a few other games not even opened yet (not to mention any next-gen racing games I might get), I will NEVER play NFSU again. I got it for $5 during the CC glitch WAY back in Dec. 2004, so the profit was low, but still profit nonetheless :D. (Plus I think I got a PriceGrabber rebate on it).

I really don't know why they still have this deal running, but I'll probably lay off for a bit and if it is still running in a week or two trade some more - though I pretty much ran out of stuff due to the EB/GS trade deal ending today. I really haven't used it that much - and, yet, really, it is a better deal than the EB/GS deal. I got $40 for 4 games, whereas it took 6 games to get me $45 at GS today. However, the GR deal has more exclusions, as you don't really know what random game will not qualify (today it was Pac-Man World 2 for Xbox which fetched me $8 at GS).

FYI, I tried a different Game Rush, and did get $350 credit for my Premium 360. I think the first one just didn't know what they were doing (the new location had to input some codes from 'the book' instead of just scanning the UPC).
Where is Fifa 07 for $40? And can you order online because I don't think there's a Gamerush here
GameRush doesn't have an online store. You can find the GR nearest to you on their store locator page. If you're not lucky enough to have one nearby, perhaps there's a CAG who will pick you up a copy for a nominal fee.

So they finally caught up with everyone else on the Battalion Wars/Fire Emblem pricing. I really don't get those prices - it HAS to be from Nintendo with so many stores following the $15 thing. Very strange. I finally started playing my $29.99 :)bomb:) preorder deal copy of Battalion Wars - fun game, but kind of difficult.

I saw Death Jr marked $10 at my GR a few days back. They hadn't marked any of those GC games down yet, but they had Death Jr marked down. I figured that was an old drop, but it did catch my eye in there this weekend so maybe they just marked them recently.

One to add to the OP, shipwreck - Kirby Canvas Curse is $19.99.

Also, echoing the CAG who said things have been restocked - I did notice that my GR got more Hot Shots Golf Open Tee, MGA 2, Super Princess Peach, and Burnout Revenge 360. Probably others too... Interesting, since they almost never restock anything.

I'm still looking for Shadow Hearts From the New World (of course, they don't restock THAT!). Will trade for anything off the recent drop lists that adds up to $20, or ANY other $20 game (Burnout Revenge for PS2, etc).

io, the prices I listed all came from the price drop list that I got this morning, so they went into effect on Sunday.

Death Jr. has been $10 used for a couple of weeks now and the new price was just dropped yesterday. The used price is still $10 as well, so I would expect that one to drop to $6.99 used in two weeks.

And yeah, the 3 $15 GC games has to be from Nintendo. They didn't have Chibi Robo in stock at the GR I was at, but I'm assuming that got the drop too.

Edit: Added Kirby Canvas Curse to OP.

These were definitely new copies - about 4 of them, actually. I got mine for $5 from Best Buy, so that's one drop I'm not mad about . It is entirely possible they retagged them yesterday (as in the 15th) and that's when I saw the price drop. But it is very unusual of my GR to be so on top of things :D.

So I finally get off my ass to go to Gamerush to hit the first round of drops... I assumed everything good had to have been cleaned out by now. My friend was really interested in the $20 Xbox 360 games, I assumed Burnout would be long gone.

Much to my surprise, or well, not really THAT surprised, not only did Gamerush have a ton of 360 and PSP games, NONE of the 360 games were marked the right price. Hell, at all three stores Burnout was marked $40, Far Cry and Full Auto were marked $60.

All the PSP games were all marked at the right price and they still had a ton of them left... I don't get why people aren't snatching them up at 1/2 MSRP, but I guess it goes to show nobody shops at Gamerush around here. They still have the same used games they did months ago.

Io and Botticus might remember that, many years ago, I had a few run-in's with the woman I dubbed "The Beast" at my main Gamerush... the one who threatened to ban me from the store during the Druaga / Maximum Impact high trade-in's, because I was getting my friends to trade in using my account as well (you could have two other people linked to your account for trade-in's at the time).

She told me friend how she was going to collar me, the ring leader, and make sure none of us ever step foot into a Gamerush again, because what we were doing is illegal and we're lucky she dosen't call the police, and where are we getting so many Druaga's and MI's, we must be stealing them.

I hadn't seen her in YEARS, but today, she's in there. We ask for Far Cry and Full Auto, and she says "Oh, we have those used, those are cheaper, I can get those" I have to explain to her two times or so that, no, we asked for new copies, we want new copies, because she kept insisting on looking in the computer for used copies.

Finally, she rings up the first game, the tag says $60 (lol), it rings up $20, she re-rings it up three seperate times, looks at me, looks at my friend, I guess she remembered who we are, and says "I don't know why this is $20" and rips off the $60 price tag from the game, for some reason. My friend says "Yea, I think it's on sale" and she says "Oh, I must have missed it on *yesterday's* price change update".

I wanted to be a smart ass and say "If by yesterday, you mean 2 1/2 weeks ago" but I just kept my mouth shut.

Good to see GR never changes... the three stores had almost every 360 / PSP game on the list for new. I myself grabbed Full Auto (why not, ya know) and Ys for PSP.

Yeah, I remember that - I think it has soured you on GR to this day :D. However, I'm quoting just this part because it is funny you mention KOF MI, as I just traded one in yesterday for a nice profit. It is STILL a good trade-in fodder game . They can be found at Target for $7.48 (I passed one up last time I was there actually). Gets $12 even without the $5 bonus (and I got $17 for it). Yeah, it used to be more, but it also cost more to buy (I think they were $10 at CC/TRU?).

Oh, and the regular version of KOF:MI is $2 or $3 at Kmart (old and out of the system so you'll have to get a cashier to override the "Price Reqd"). It fetches $9.50 at GR.

I feel (kind of) bad because some of the Druaga's and KOF:MI's I traded in a year ago are still there. That's why I was hesitant to trade another, but I figured it saved me the trouble of having to return it to Target. I probably won't do another though.

Similar thing happened to me at a local GR...I was pretty surprised they had one copy of Burnout and two copies of Far Cry so I asked them to get those from behind the glass case...I then asked if they could check the price on them. The clerk looks at me and says "the prices are right here...$39.99 and $59.99" I politely asked if she could check them again just to make sure. She scans them and says "ok...just kidding on those prices...they are both $20". LOL! She takes the games out and as she is bagging them she tells another employee..."hey these games were marked wrong" The other clerk says "really, are there any more like that?!" I told him that there were a few more, and since I got my share of games I let him in on which titles were cheaper than marked.

Ahh, so THIS is why I keep coming to GR. Pure comedy!

Funny that you made a trip out to the Game Rush stores and reported what you found when you felt the need to comment that the deals weren't worth it when I posted my findings in the Tampa Bay CAGs thread ...

If you look and read carefully, you'll see that I mostly made the trip for my friend, and I picked up two games so it wasn't a wasted effort... I'm probably not even keeping Ys, and I only got Full Auto because my friend did. I didn't make a special trip for myself.

Nice try, though.

If my friend had his own car, he would have gone by himself.

And findings? You just posted what you bought and not even what any store HAD, so that helps nobody. I suggest you drop it here, since I marked both of your posts for moderation as well as my own, and now welcome to my ignore list. Just a shame it has to come to this since we're both in the same area and all.

Well, I'm done trading into GR anyways... the stock was barely there, and it's too far for me to drive on a regular basis.

You should have seen the look the lady gave us... it's like she had a flashback to two or so years ago when I amassed a bajillion dollars in credit.

I'm just shocked that even at 50% MSRP they can't get rid of games... if this was any other store that stuff would have been gone within the first week. I actually told my friend we're probably going to have to go to a few stores to get the 360 games he wanted since the deal was already 2 + weeks old, but at the first store he found everything he wanted minus 1 game (which we found at the third store). My friend said it's too bad he dosen't have a PSP since they had every game he wanted on sale, like Gradius Collection and Megaman X.

I guess nobody really does shop in there... I have a feeling they could mark all their PSP and 360 games to $5 and I could go in a month later and they'd all still be there (if you take out the reseller aspect and just focus on regular customers).

I'd grab Me & My Katamari if I hadn't pre-ordered it online for $25. The other problem with picking it up cheap would be that I've never actually seen a copy of it at Gamerush, or any of the other Katamari games for that matter. They seem to be a little rare around these parts. The game is plagued by the same problem all 3D games on PSP have...it's hard as hell controlling your character without two damn analog sticks. Stupid friggin' Sony...did they not beta test the PSP before they released the thing? I'd grab Worms for that price too but I just got it for around the same price a couple weeks ago in a trade.

I played through the entire game and it wasn't THAT difficult to control. I think they did the best they could given the (actual PSP) controls. I preordered it at GR, and I know they got a second copy at the time as well, but it was sold long ago. But you are right about the others Katamari games - never seen 'em at GR.

I'm right about Me & My Katamari too...considering I'm talking about my local stores, not the whole chain. :p

And the controls not being that difficult is an opinion as well, one that I don't share. I curse Sony every time I attempt to play any game that would benefit from a second analog stick, which is pretty much every game put out for the PSP. If they wanna know why their portable sales suck compared to Nintendo, besides the fact that Nintendo's games are actually fun, they don't need to look much further than the crappy controls on their system. The only games I've actually enjoyed playing on it are games like Ultimate Block Party that don't require any analog stick use. And Ultimate Block Party would be better on the DS with touch screen controls.
