System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Older News:

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.
Trade in value for Prey and Hitman Blood Money has dropped to $22. No longer $35.
when did you do this trade in?

As of Oct 21, trade in value for Prey was $33.

If it dropped to $22. $hit!.. should have traded in before

Any new price drops this week? Was hoping that maybe FIFA 2006 World Cup for 360 would drop to that magic $10 to $20 range like all the other '06 sports games since FIFA 2007 is coming out.

And yes, I know about the $40 deal for 07 at Gamerush, but the IGN review of 07 wasn't very favorable so it still looks like WC 06 is the best on 360, for now.

Sorry, I was swamped at work today and didn't have a chance to go get the new price drops. I'll try and get them tomorrow or Wednesday.

Does anyone who works at GameRush know if they have the 360 HD-DVD player in the system? Just curious, I know they rent out both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray online at blockbuster.com

I know this is not a 'videogame' deal but I posted it over in the DVD section and I am sure it will be valueable to many of us.

Starting Nov. 2nd BBOnline will change in a very awesome way.

You will now be able to drop off movies sent to your door at any local Blockbuster instead of mailing it in. Once BB checks them in (right in front of you might I add), you're online quene will be updated and you're next movie will be sent out. However, it gets better. You will be able to get ANY movie in the store right then and there for FREE. So what it means is you are essentially getting two-three times more of rentals each month!

Stores will also be receiving laptops to allow new members to join BBOnline and even cancel their NetFlix account.

To summarize:
1. Return BBOnline movie inside Envelope mailer to any BB location.
2. You're online quene gets updated and you're next movie is sent out.
3. You get a free rental in store right away as an extra bonus for dropping off you're movie.

Awesome... there was a survey a few months ago asking if I would like those changes, and hell yeah I would.

Unsurprisingly, no Contact today. Gotta go back this weekend to talk to a manager about fixing up my Zelda preorder (and Contact).

Great new GR story:

I go in to GR and look in the locked case and see that they recently received a PSone with screen combo. It is marked at $150 NEW. I ask the girl behind the counter about it and she said corporate just sent it to them and that the price is correct!

So Gamerush has pretty much stopped doing those trade in deals> I have 2 games to rid of and I was hoping for an extra $5 or whatever they do.

Also I STILL have Zelda on preorder for the gamecube... will anything affect me when I get it in november and its for the Wii?

Heh, how long ago did you preorder Zelda?

And if the game is actually cancelled, you should be able to get the credit back. If not, you'll have better luck returning the game when it comes out, rather than trying to cancel the preorder.

Uh, yeah, if you preordered that over a year ago you might want to stop in and start the slow, painful, process of *maybe* having them refund your now lost preorder. In case you missed our pages upon pages of discussion about that matter: preorders magically disappear after one year. The store will have no record of it whatsoever. However, if they contact corporate they can get your full account history (or have someone there look it up). I was able to get my preorders (Zelda and FF XII) fixed after over a month of bugging them about it.

We're coming up on that FF XII release date - I imagine there will be lots of "happy" customers at GR who go to pick up their non-existant preorders. It doesn't seem like they've done anything comprehensive to solve this problem.

Oh, and if you are in TX, I believe someone said the extra $5 deal was still running there at some locations - you might want to check on that as you check up on your preorder :D.

BREAKING NEWS: I have good news and bad news. I'll give you guys the good news first

Good news: They are working a system where all preorders past a year old that have disappeared will be put back into their computers. I'm not sure how they are going to do this because I read a brief memo with this info along with the upcoming VERY BAD BAD BAD NEWS

Bad news: GR still has not got their allocation numbers from Sony and that's why we are nowhere near any presales. As a result, and here it is, GameRush will not be doing any presales on the PS3 or the Wii. I repeat, GR will not be taking any preorders on those systems. They will be sold on a first come, first serve basis on the release date. Sucks for customers because I'm sure employees will snatch up the few that GR will have. There it is, there is the news, and this is legitimate information. When have I ever been wrong?

Holy crap, if that's even half true, that's pretty sweet. Where did you get this info from?

I saw 3 of those at a normal Blockbuster and was wondering if the price had dropped. They were all marked $150 too. Waiting to hear those have dropped to $20-30, then I'll drive back and see if they still have them (I'm sure they will).

Well, hopefully they will stick to the call list regardless and simply sell them in that order. Makes little difference to me - though I am glad I got my Wii preorder done at EB (and xferred all that credit!). Hopefully I can still get most of the games, at least, at GR. Getting accessories there would be nice too (though I already have an extra Wiimote + Nunchuck preordered at EB).

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Hmmm - wiki prices are pretty ancient. Was hoping there were some decent credit fetchers - saw a DDS but still 44.99 and I aint paying that out of pocket

Yeah, it didn't even occur to me until earlier today, but I'm sure there are some credit builders possible with the EB/GS B2G1. KOTOR probably still gets $7 at GR, not sure how much they are at EB. Of course it helps that I can still get the extra $5 per game .

On the flip side (so to speak), I don't need any more damn GR credit if I can't even get the PS3 or Wii there (if they really go through with this sell on launch day first come first served crap). My GR will get the overflow campers from a nearby Fry's WAY before I could get there. So even with the extra $5 I'm just not into getting more GR credit.

I'm going to stroll into GR in a few days and innocently ask about preorders and see what they tell me. You'd think the least they could do is use the call list to call people and let them know they're screwed :D.

You beat me to the punch! I found out this crappy ass information as well. I just hope that they will sell them at midnight so I can just spend the whole day in the store.

sounds great. this just means that the dvd shelves will now be completely empty due to their retarded rental policy of 'no late fees'. Even now, it takes forever to get a movie you actually want if you dont get your arse there on tuesday afternoon.

I've called around to my local GR stores and they didn't know anything about this. I believe you over them, but we'll see.

Man alive...am I glad I transferred about $450 of GR credit to $650 EB credit the past couple of months !!

Oh no....this kinda puts a damper on my PS3 pre-order plans now....shoot. I doubt I'll be able to get one, unless my store is nice and holds one since they know me now.

So does anyone think BB will get a decent supply of the Wii even though there are no preorders? 4 million units by the end of the year right?
So does anyone think BB will get a decent supply of the Wii even though there are no preorders? 4 million units by the end of the year right?
Depends on what you mean by decent supply. I wouldn't be surprised by them getting maybe 5-10 per store...on the Friday after launch. I think Gamerush gets more launch consoles than we realize, it's just that employees snap a lot of them up with their discount.

I bought the Marvel game at Circuit City and got the X-Men movie game free. The trade-in price at the wiki says $35 (7/14/06, I think), but I doubt it's that much. Does anyone know what it actually trades for?

I was in GR yesterday returning my unopened copy of Odama (it'd been about 30 days since I bought it). And saw Battalion Wars for $9.99, couldn't decide on whether to get it, so I didn't.

Damn.. thanks for the info. I missed that whole discussion cause Ive been away from gaming and eveything for awhile. 10/23 when I asked this question was exactley ONE YEAR to the day since I preordered. I got freaked when I read your response so I called, talked to a guy and he said the preorder was still listed and will come out on Dec. 15. I dont know the official release of the game but I said I heard preorders dissapear after a year and he said no, that itll go away once the game comes in and I pick it up. Naturally I beleive everyone here before them, but is there a chance they updated their system? I still have a receipt so I have proof the game is paid in full.

I was so freaked on the prerder, I forgot to ask on trade in deals, it became the least of my concern.

Well, JaysonR says they are working on fixing the disappearing preorders, so don't know if the fix has gone it yet or not. The GR guy was wrong though - they DO disappear, as it happened to (nearly?) everyone here who had one over a year old. My store didn't believe that either - it took about 5 visits from me to prompt them to call someone at HQ who let them know that they do, indeed, go away after a year.

Having the receipt showing you paid in full is nice, but they don't know you didn't cancel or switch it to something else in the mean time. So if it disappears before the date you pick it up, they will have to go through your entire account history to check that (assuming the guy you talked to today doesn't remember seeing it). What I would do if I were you is to go in and cancel it, then re-order it. That way the preorder is refreshed. They might think you are crazy, but it shouldn't make any difference to them. Then there's NO chance it will go away before December.
employees don't get discount on systems...just thought I'd let you know that
Maybe they aren't suppsed to, but I know the employees at my Gamerush give themselves a discount on consoles. I remember talking to a couple of them about the 360 and the DS Lite when they both came out, and both times they said they got an employee discount on it. Maybe the manager at that store is clueless about what the employee discount can be used for.

Those guys at your GR are either 1) Liars or 2) overriding the price and shaving off a few bucks, which is a no no for employees and accounts do get checked every so often by the corporate offices

Discounts automatically come off for employees in the system, it's not a manual thing that the manager has control of

Eh, I'm sure they are overriding it...they also gave themselves all the N64, NES, SNES, Genesis, and Dreamcast games that were supposed to be field destroyed a while back and keep any good stuff that's traded in for themselves to resell on Ebay...heh...they are pretty open and honest about it though, at least to me, probably because I keep them updated on what stuff has been price dropped via CAG, as the employees themselves never seem to know. Enevitably, after I bring up a game marked $30 that rings up $10, one or two employees will run back to the game section to get themselves a copy. Oh, and now that I think about it, there was a promotion where you got a $5 gift card for every $50 gift card purchased around Christmas, and I remember one employee telling me he combined that with his 10% discount to sell himself an Xbox 360 premium for $320. which he turned around and popped on Ebay. He also bought himself a bunch of DDR Mario bundles for $40 after discount + $5 free gift card.

The weekend crew is almost always college age young men who don't really give a shit if they get fired or not. Their behavior and the way they act in front of customers always cracks me up. Worst customer service skills ever. The lazy manager(s) are never there to see this stuff because they schedule themselves for the best hours (weekdays during the day when the store is slow). Nights and weekends are out of control and the best time to go if you want to abuse trade-in deals because those guys don't give a shit. They'll also take scratched up games, while the daytime crew check your games with a magnifying glass and actually read the restrictions on trade-in deals like the extra $5 a game.

I can also confirm the "no pre-orders" news. My GR manager also confirmed that they will sell all systems on a first-come first-served basis.

They intend to call everyone on the call-list only to give them the bad news. If you want a PS3 from Gamerush you will have to camp out.

I don't understand why they are doing this on Wii though, since everyone knows there will be plenty to fulfill all pre-orders.

Regardless, I want my Wii from GR since they have all my credit, and I wouldn't worry about getting a Wii there except I know there are lots of people who have hoarded credit for this very purpose. Even if Best Buy and Circuit City have Wii's coming out of their ears, GR units may be hard to get since so many people want to use their Trade-in credit there to get them.

I can't imagine trying to get a PS3 there. I believe there is a possibility that some GR stores won't get ANY.

Regardless, I'm finally done with GR. I don't get nearly as much credit at other places but I don't think it's worth it.
I was in GR yesterday returning my unopened copy of Odama (it'd been about 30 days since I bought it). And saw Battalion Wars for $9.99, couldn't decide on whether to get it, so I didn't.
Well, holy crap if you aren't right ;).

I picked up another Battalion Wars for $9.99 tonight (still marked $14.99). I wonder if the other 2 dropped as well (Fire Emblem, Chibi Robo). My store didn't have the others. Now hopefully I can return this Battalion Wars with my $14.99 receipt from a few days ago.

On the PS3/Wii preorder front, the guys at my store knew nothing about the "memo" and had "no new info" on preorders. But the manager wasn't there so I'll see what he says next time I'm in.

So Battalion Wars new dropped to $10? Hmm...my local Gamerush still has a sealed Chibi Robo marked at $15 that I'd pick up as trade bait for $10.

Yeah, you might want to check that out - of course it is possible that they only dropped Battalion Wars to $9.99, but it seems those games drop as a group so there's a good chance Chibi and Fire Emblem are also that price. What sucks about that is they are going to give dirt squat for trade-in from now on for 3 pretty damn good GC games.

I don't know what is up with GR's inventory, but they KEEP restocking some of those cheap PSP games. I saw at least 3 more MGA2 and MediEvil Resurrection today. The other day they put out 3 more Death Jr. I'm not sure if they are getting these sent to them, or if they are coming from the back. It seems likely they were sent as I can't imagine they had so many of these titles from a year ago in the store room (when they stock so few of every other game).

I know there were some used game price drops this week because I saw an employee going over the list and remarking stome stuff (guess it could have been an old list but I doubt it). For some reason, they protect that list like a state secret and won't let me look at it. Other Gamerush stores I've been to are happy to let you check out the list, hoping you'll buy some stuff off the racks so they don't have to search for it and reprice it. Anyone know what is on the list this week yet?
damn i just picked up fire emblem, battalion wars and chibi today for $15 each
Today, as in Thursday? Battalion Wars rang up $9.99 for me last night (Weds). It was still tagged $14.99 of course. It should have rung up $9.99 for you too, unless they overrode it with the tagged price :D.

Or do you mean you got them elsewhere (like CC)? You can always return them there and get 'em at GR - though we don't know if anything other than Battalion Wars is down to $9.99.

Oh snap, just got a call from GameRush - Magical Starsign is in. No mention of Contact, but I was going to talk to the manager there about it (and Zelda) tonight anyway. He's stuck there till 1:30am, so he's not getting away.

Hah - I nearly forgot about that game. Of course I won't get a call, but it will probably be there. Not sure if I want it though...

Beauty of all these EB/GR preorders is if I'm not a big fan of the game, eBay will easily make me some profit on it.

So, did anyone's GameRush actually call the people on the call list about the PS3 news? Just curious...nothing from mine yet. I was #1 on the list also.

I just got back from mine. They think they are still doing preorders according to the call list but they just haven't gotten their allocation numbers in yet. We'll see...
$25 got me Full Auto Used 360
I hope there wasn't any new copies on the shelves...because new copies are going for $20 bucks.

I really hope they still stick to that list. That way I don't have to call in "sick" to work, and spend the entire day at GR waiting.
