System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Yeah, sucks about the call list....I wonder how many stores are doing the "lottery" aspect (like mine) or are just doing first come, first serve. Any idea how many systems they will get?

Anyone see Gears of War today? HD-DVD drive ever?

About a month or two ago they started getting new game releases only on Fridays.

Ok, thanks...I've been out of the loop a bit with pre-orders since I haven't had one in a while. I'll just check Friday....maybe I'll get lucky and they'll have a HD-DVD add-on, but I doubt it.

Yeah, with a few exceptions though - they had FF XII and Lego Star Wars II on release day, but only because those were shipped out early and required to be held till Tuesday by stores. My GR had gotten Lego Star Wars II on the weekend prior to release. Now, GoW is a pretty big release, but probably not as big as those two (and it all depends on the publisher I guess).

I'm supposed to go up there today and talk to the game guy about system preorders but I don't feel like making a 20 mile round trip drive just to hear I won't get a PS3. (I have some small hope they will hold one for me, but I doubt it - guess I can just call and see what he says).
 
Has anybody's GR gotten in GoW or CoD3?

My local gamestops are getting GoW in around 7:00 PM tonight, so I'm hoping the same will go for GR, but its doubtful... :cry:
 
I called mine today, they said "hopefully tomorrow". Splinter Cell arrived on Thursday instead of Wednesday like everywhere else, I'm hoping this won't be the case with GoW or COD3.
 
Well, my Gamerush says Gears and COD 3 won't be in until Thursday. This is Gamerush on Staten Island, Victory Blvd. They never get games on time. I'm damn tired of it already.
 
I just called GR...GoW did not make it in today, but CoD3 did. The most anticipated game for the 360 this year and they drop the ball on it :roll: but it's not unexpected. At least I get to pick Call of Duty today.
 
I just called GR to double check, hoping that by some miracle it won't be Thursday and it came early, got even worse news. GOW and COD 3 won't be in until Friday now, not Thursday. Honestly, this is fucking pathetic.
 
Alot of retailers aren't getting in GoW today... some kind of huge FedEx problem. For once, it may not actually be GR's fault.
 
Seriously guys, GR gets 99% of games in on Friday now, not the old "Well, the rental date is Friday, so that's when we'll have it." I'm surprised a store got any game in on a Wednesday, let alone COD3. I don't even bother calling till Friday now.

It's true. Almost all CC's won't get it until sometime Thursday.
 
They called me back; no COD3, mistake on their part. Hope no one here made the drive.

Lots of people on my FR playing either COD or GOW. fuck GR, can't wait until the last of my credit there is gone.
 
Does anyone know if the Xbox Live Starter Kit with Project Gotham Racing 2 is on clearance or not? GR near me had a stack of them that were not there before, but were stickered $39.99 in the locked case and the employees there were not too keen on price checks.

I know the Crimson Skies Kit was clearanced and I hooked up a bunch of CAGs with those a while back. If this kit is clearanced too, I can hook some others up.
 
Can GameRush special order items that they do not carry? I'm assuming (and hoping to be wrong) that they won't be selling the HD-DVD drive for the 360 in their stores.

And what about ordering the CE of Lost Planet? Or can you only get the regular version?

I know the HD-DVD IS in their system, I asked about it and they basically said they have none or order. I would ASSUME they could order it, but the manager didn't offer it, so you may be waiting a while
 
Final Fantasy V is in today, but no sign of Elite Beat Agents, so I'll just grab that at EB. Or I'll wait till it gets cheaper.
 
Interesting note -- my parents had preordered Twilight Princess back in Feb. 2005 (the trade 3, get a preorder for $35 deal) and all note of it had dropped off their account. They'd asked about it a few months ago and were told that it wasn't in the system, etc (and never followed up with things any further than that). Today they noticed that they now suddenly have a $50 credit on their account -- apparently from the old preorder being cancelled.

Anyone else have anything similar happen?
 
I've been lied to SO MANY times at blockbuster so take this with a grain of salt.

But the district manager told me that they were giving the people options of refunds for Twilight Princess because that happened to so many people.

After spending 5 weeks trying to get it straightened out, I just took the cash and ran, not spending anymore of my money there....Until the trade in bonuses come back...

Looks like maybe all the work us CAG's did a few months ago on pestering them about this missing preorders may have prompted them to do a system-wide check of preorders. When you say did "anyone else have anything similar happen", do you mean a $50 credit without having to pester them repeatedly for 4 weeks? Because that's what I had to do a few months back (and documented it here along with several other people). So far this is the only case where it seems they just gave people money back with little hassle though.

Get this, they told me that I absolutely cannot order it, that they 'no longer do special orders', even for items that are in the system. Is this correct? Does Blockbuster hate to make money?

Even better, they let me order the Collector's Edition of Lost Planet, but 'we might not actually get it in, even if you order it'.

What the hell is happening to Game Rush? First the slow shipping, now this.
 
That's how they've been as long as I've been a patron. I don't know any retail stores that special order an item for you. I highly doubt they would make any money on such a purchase due to shipping, processing, etc. The most they or any store that I have ever dealt with would do is transfer an item between stores.

In the case of the HD-DVD, if they don't stock that item, they'd have to order it from Microsoft at probably small to no discount.
 
Picked up Gears of War today, preorder was not in system, had to wait 10-15 minutes why the guy called corporate to get my preorder. He gave me the number for the next store I go to that has one of my old preorders
 
Went to a local GameRush today and found a copy of ZOE: The 2nd Runner for $16.99, dropped to $14 after using the last $2 on my gift card (Left over from the Trade 3 or more get $5 each). It came in the original case, but had no manual. Still, it is nice to find this game at a reasonable price (lower than GS' outrageous $40 price tag).
 
I found a ZOE 2 at gamerush a couple months ago for the same price...and I couldnt believe it was complete...the next time I went in there, they had 2 more copies...I wonder if they are still there...

Actually, it is $9.99 new :D... For that price it is definitely worth it. It is a fairly difficult real time strategy/3rd person shooter action game hybrid. Give it a shot! I played about halfway through it a few weeks back (finally, prompted by all these clearance prices - of course I got it as a $29.99 preorder from GR when it first came out :roll:). I got distracted by other games, but I do intend to finish it some time soon.
 
Picked up Guitar Heroes 2 today...surprised they got it in on time. They had 3 spare copies at my location (Orange City, FL) - with guitar included.

One bit of gossip to add to the pile: according to the store manager I talked to today, they will be getting PS3s and Wiis for launch, but they have not been told how many. I asked about a possible Midnight release, and at my store at least they will be waiting until Friday am to sell any units they get (first come, first served as soon as the store opens). Given the lack of buzz around Gamerush, this could be a backdoor route to getting a unit (and using up the mounds of GR credit many of us have). Again, this is all heresay though, but thought I'd mention it.

That is what the manager at my GR said. Hopefully I can get there early enough to get one of the few PS3s that they are going to get in.

Thanks for the tip. I got a bunch of junk to trade in there for Christmas gifts and stuff (Mom gets a DS Lite), so I'll snag that if it's in stock, too.
 
My GR had a sign on the door that they're not getting any PS3 or Wii's at launch. The manager said that the chain only received enough systems to sell at certain GR stores. Out of 3 stores in my area, only the farthest one away is getting some (which makes sense since it's the most visible one, in Sharpsburg, GA).

Interesting - OR, they are just getting a few that are going to employees/certain customers and thus for the public at large they are getting none. I'm still waiting for my GR to call me back when they know how many they are getting. Thanks for the post, though, as now I can expect with about a 50% chance or so that my store will get none (or none for sale, anyway).
 
Ok, now it's official....NO PS3's at launch at my GameRush. I went to trade some movies in and asked....NONE. They said they could get one, but it would cost too much to ship to make it even worth the sale....so, they will wait, they said eventually they may get some. Whenever SONY gets their act together.
