System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Older News:

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki

Two Oakland County, MI stores I checked had signs up, but all the signs said (excludes Xbox 360, Wii and PS3 Games). Also, all of their older stock levels were already a lot smaller than just a week ago.

Mine's not doing the 25% off sale, and I'm absolutely certain it's a corporate store. They've always been part of the sales in the past, too.

Does anyone think the extra 5$ deal for this/last-generation trade-ins is ever going to return, or are they now absolutely committed to getting rid of as much stuff as possible? (Maybe someone who dealt w/ Gamerush back in 2000/2001 might recall their pattern from that time.)

I got absolutely mint copies of Shadow Hearts From the New World and MGS Twin Snakes for a grand total of $22.48 after discount (both were $14.99 before). This is the copy of SH that was stubbornly stuck at $34.99 for a while after the new price dropped to $19.99. I'm glad that happened, though, as now I got it for $11.24.

Both of them look brand new - they certainly weren't ex-rentals.

Only disappointment was that the WarioWare Touched that has been there for at least a year was gone. Also no Wii stuff ;).

And the extra $5 trade-in deal is *still* running (at my store - YMMV). When my Reservoir Dogs arrives I'll finally have 3 things to trade in. They better not finally pull it NOW ;).

PS3 COMING IN TODAY! Mine is on hold....just got the call. SWEET. 60GB of fun for me :)

Now, what to rent first....I love my free game rentals from Blockbuster.com

My store does not have 25% off though :( (at least not posted)

Yep, waltzed in and picked up a 60GB PS3 earlier today.

shipwreck: "Did you get any Wii's in today?"

employee: "Nope, but we have PS3's."

shipwreck: "Give me one of those I guess."

Snarky-assed bastard ;).

I was discussing the whole PS3/Wii thing with the manager at my store yesterday. It will be interesting to see if they call me if they come in. Though at this point I'm not entirely sure I actually WANT one. That would pretty much burn up all my credit and I'm thinking at this point I'd actually rather save it for Wii and DS games throughout 2007. Of course with trade 3 get an extra $5/game still running... But there's really been no good trade fodder (EVEN WITH the extra $5) recently.

The whole lack of an upscaler thing really turns me off the PS3. I don't need a 15 lb power-hungry monolith that only outputs 480p to my HDTV :bomb:.
Snarky-assed bastard ;).
Yep, and like you, I have the same HDTV issues, so I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do with this thing.

As far as numbers wise, the GR I went to had 2-3 60GB's and 2-3 20GB's.

WooHoo...brought mine home, I have to wait for my HDMI cable to arrive now...and now the Optical Cable and switch (as I assume my optical out on my TV won't work). Sheesh....and the wait begins.

Picked up the only one that my GR had!! I wanted GR to live until the PS3 came out and it did! I only had to spend $30 in cash today to pick it up. Now I just have to get an HDMI cable.
the list actually had some DS and GBA games on it before corporate realized that they no longer rent games for those systems.
For real? A few of the GRs around here only NOW have DS sections on their rental walls. They hadn't before. Of course this explains why there are fewer used DS games from which to buy.

I noticed GameRush had some 360 OPTICAL cables for $10....not a bad deal for a 9FT cable. I may get one tomorrow for my PS3 actually.

Also, anyone know trade in values for these games:
- NBA 2K6
- NHL 2K6
- Oblivion
- CoD2
- Tiger Woods 06

ALL 360

So I guess doubledown and I were able to score PS3s today!!! :applause: :applause: :applause:

Picked up a 20GB version at my Blockbuster/Gamerush. They had only 2 that came in and they were both 20GB versions... Used my credit for ~$540 on the total and still have about $280 left in credit to boot. WOO HOO!!!

May Blockbuster/Gamerush live on til PS4 launch!!! :applause:

I happen to casually know one of the employees at my local GR, and asked her if they got PS3s in today. She said "yes 4, they were gone in an hour." I thought to myself wow, a very slow day for moving PS3s. :) I really am not that interested in the system myself. I like a nice selection and as of yet..... Not so much, even on the 360 side IMHO.

Yeah, I'm out of credit now though :( Although I may trade a few games today...since I really don't play them anymore. I also may get the 9FT optical cable for $10 while I'm there.....new PS3 needs WAY TOO many cables for what they give you in the box.

I'd like to furthur push the point, the 25% works on ALL used games. No system or price excluded. If the employee says otherwise, urge him/her to just try to scan the discount barcode.

Also, the reason so many GR transfered PRP copies of games to rental, is that in the last month there was a system update that allowed us to make that transfer. Before this, we could only switch retail to rental or rental to PRP. And from what I heard yesterday, there were still PS3s left at a few stores in the Kansas City area. Off the top of my head, 3rd and Ward in Lee's Summit, MO and Sugar Creek, MO stores still had at least 1 20GB at closing yesterday. Also, Wiis should be arriving early next week, possibly on Tuesday about noon along with pool point. My store (29156, North 7 Hwy in Blue Springs) has 3 systems on order. Could recieve less or more, who knows. I'm confident these are coming from distribution and not Nintendo, so they should be there on time.

Anyone else know what a PS2 system trades for (the old BIG one)?

Now that I got my PS3, I'm looking to gain MORE credit for future purchases.

$40.00, slim is $50.00
$40.00, slim is $50.00
Thanks....not bad. Although, my brother has it right now...I wonder if he even uses it.

Well, hopefully this sports games for the 360 get at least $10 or so....we'll see. Quake 4 anyone? I may lose that also. Still on the fence about CoD2 since I have CoD3....2 was a bit better IMO.

I avoid Gamerush like the plague, and my friend, she wants a Shadow of the Colossus, so I tell her Gamerush has it for $14.99 I believe and 25% off. She also wants to trade me God of War so I tell her if we find it there, same deal, and she can trade me a cheap copy.

So we get to GR, we find God of War, no SotC, but she decides to get King Kong, since it's $9.99, $7.50 after discount for PS2.

We go to the register, have to explain to the cashier what's going on, she scans the discount and we're on our way.

It's only later we realized we only got the 25% off for King Kong and NOT for God of War. We had to make a special trip BACK to Gamerush just to get our 25% refunded for God of War.

Moral of the story: Gamerush needs to scan the discount barcode AFTER EVERY GAME IS SCANNED.

Also, why does every GR have like 12 copies of Gun? Did I miss something? The GR we went to had no less than 15 copies of the game used for $9.99.
Also, why does every GR have like 12 copies of Gun? Did I miss something? The GR we went to had no less than 15 copies of the game used for $9.99.
For some reason, every Blockbuster got around 30 copies of this game to rent when it came out.

Weren't they trying some new guaranteed in-stock rental program similar to their guaranteed in-stock or it's free DVD rental program?

I asked around at a few GR stores and none of them have had an PS3s in this week unless they're lying to me. One employee told me he actually has a customer that's going to sell HIM a PS3 because he hasn't been able to find one. Not very encouraging.
For some reason, every Blockbuster got around 30 copies of this game to rent when it came out.
Gotcha, that makes sense then. They set them up weird, like they have Gun facing out in like 12 different spots, so all you see is a ton of Gun staring at you.

And I remember reading somewhere that Gamerush dumped most of its used stock somewhere, was this true? Because the shelves were practically barren, nothing left but shitty games and then some more common stuff like God of War.

They didn't dump their used games, they put a lot of them back up on the walls as rentals. I posted on this awhile back.

Hell, I'll give you $60 shipped Paypal for one if you're just going to sell it to GR for $40 in store credit. I want a second PS2 for my upstairs TV.
For some reason, every Blockbuster got around 30 copies of this game to rent when it came out.
Ahh. That explains things, because Roufuss is right. I haven't been to a GR that didn't have a kajillion copies of that game.
They didn't dump their used games, they put a lot of them back up on the walls as rentals. I posted on this awhile back.
I only vaguely follow the Gamerush threads these days, I only ventured in because someone told me about the 25% off sale (before it was in the topic).

Somehow, even Gamerush managed to fuck that up for me.
Ahh. That explains things, because Roufuss is right. I haven't been to a GR that didn't have a kajillion copies of that game.
My GR doesn't really have that many, but all the local regular Blockbusters have been overflowing with these things since early summer. You notice it much more when they have a total of 50-100 used games for sale and 10-20 of them are Gun (both PS2 and Xbox).

I didn't call my GR, but they certainly didn't call me - so I'm going to ASSUME they didn't get any PS3's in. Though at this point I think if I actually came across one I'd pass. I can't turn it into much more than even money on ebay and I can't use it on my SONY HDTV because it will downscale to 480p. (Sony sucks.) If GR was really, truly, going away I might consider "cashing out" by getting a PS3 and selling it - would be a better return than selling gift cards, anyway. But if they aren't, I'd really rather hold on to the credit to use for Wii and DS games. Problem is, they need to last at least throughout 2007 with semi-reliable game deliveries for that to be worthwhile.

Botticus - I never thought to get PoR at GR. I should see if by some act of God, they got one in. Then I, too, could return my EB copy. I didn't bother preordering Elebits from GR either, but should they get that in I can do the same. At least I was finally able to return my Zelda to EB after the GR one came in (and I *finally* started playing it yesterday when my component cables arrived - woo-hoo!).

As for pulling used games for rent - I didn't notice ANY change in the used stock at my GR. I did see an employee look at a list on the computer and go pull 1 or 2 games from the used stacks. But it certainly didn't make any dent. They pretty much have the same stock they've had for the last 6 months.

Question: I heard someone say in this thread (sorry, I can't remember the name) that there's a chance Gamerush will get some Wii's in on Tuesday. Would it be best to call and ask Monday?

Ok, I got a few 360 trade values:
- Quake 4 - $19
- NBA 2K6 - $4
- NHL 2K6 - $2

I did pick up the Mad Catz optical cable for $10 also....not bad for instant gratification (9ft long also).

Still did not see any 25% off signs at my GR though....not a big deal as all my credit is just about gone.

Traded in the following:

Call of Duty 2 - $22
Project Gotham Racing 3 - $15

One of the Wiki editors can update the PGR3 trade-in value.

Picked up R6: Vegas. No Wiis or PS3s.

Wow, my GR actually had 2 copies of Castlevania and Kirby Squeak Squad, and all without me preordering either. I passed on Kirby for now, though if I want to use GR credit on it I should get it soon.

I picked up used copies of Digital Devil Saga 1 and Puyo Pop Fever for GC for $33.74 and $11.24, respectively. Like the 2 games I picked up the other day these were absolutely mint and looked like they had never been played. What is up with that? All 4 out of 4 used games I checked out at GR were absolutely mint and complete (well, the DDS does not have the collector's box, but...).

They also had one (1) copy of Red Steel and Need For Speed Carbon for the Wii in, to complement the single copies of Zelda, SMB, Madden, Tony Hawk, and Excite Truck that they got earlier. The Zelda was my preorder and someone else bought SMB (sucker ;)). The rest are still there. I'm very tempted to get Excite Truck.

No PS3s or Wiis in yet at my store either (though I didn't press the issue).
One of the Wiki editors can update the PGR3 trade-in value.

Have fun with Vegas, I'm very anxious to pick that up myself when the price comes down.

Traded in a few old favorites yesterday:

Dinotopia (GCN) - $6
Galleon (XBox) - $9.50
Gungriffon Allied Strike (XBox) - $16

Sad to see Dinotopia and Galleon have dropped so much, but Gungriffon is holding pretty strong!

are there any GameRush stores in the bay area?
Never heard of it before

I don't suppose we can walk into a Blockbuster and hope to score these same things....maybe used games

Stopped by GR today and found that there's been some good 360 price drops. I can't remember them all, but I know Prey is now $20 new and I believe Table Tennis also dropped to $20.

www.gamerush.com - Store Locator

yea I checked that and it shows that there are no GameRushes within 50 miles of two zip codes that I frequent.

I just figured maybe there was a store that the store locator hasn't been updated with yet. Maybe new store or relocated or something.

With the number of blockbuster stores littered about everywhere I'd think there were a number of these stores around too...

No GR anywhere near the Bay Area, sorry. Your closest ones would be in LA. The 25% off is certainly active at regular Blockbusters, but their selection tends to be limited. Also, at regular BB's you are more likely to have former rental copies for sale. Though I was able to score a pretty good condition Mario Power Tennis at my local BB the other day.

They had meant to expand the GR brand a few years back but BB's troubles put a halt to that. They seem to be fairly static now (though we heard a rumor here a few months back that they were closing down many locations - don't think that has happened yet). They did expand game trading to all regular Blockbusters though, so you could have taken advantage of the trade-in deals (like extra $5 each for 3 or more games) that we have talked about. And the trade-in values on the CAGwiki apply to all (non-franchise) Blockbusters.

drfrielgood - where are you getting the Gungriffon Allied Strikes from?

Can anyone else confirm...?

Prey for $20 is something I think I'd go for. It makes me wonder if any other 360 games got lowered in price?

Surprised Shipwreck didn't catch any of these, or maybe he did and I missed it.

Makes me wonder if they dropped any PSP games as well, like last time.

The way my GR's are set up I can't even see the 360 games themselves, let alone the prices, which are ALWAYS marked wrong.

I'll check for pricedrops tomorrow. I don't go to GameRush during the weekends, so I get the pricedrops on Mondays instead of Sundays.

Is the 25% still a YMMV, my store has NO signage ANYWHERE.....not that big of a deal though, since there are not many used games I want (unless they have some PS3 ones and some good 360 ones).

Seems YMMV... stores in Central Florida have no mention of it anywhere.

Okay, here's the price drops from this week (that I can remember):

:360:
Prey $19.99 New
Top Spin 2 $19.99 New
Table Tennis $29.99 New
Test Drive Unlimited $29.99 New
Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged $29.99 New
Dead or Alive 4 $39.99 New $34.99 Used
NHL 2K7 $39.99 New
NHL 07 $39.99 New
Official Xbox Faceplate (Silver) $6.99 New

:psp:
Miami Vice $19.99 New
LocoRoco $29.99 New

:ds:
Metroid Prime Hunters $19.99 New $19.99 Used (Yes, they changed both the new and used price to $19.99)
Pokemon Trozei $19.99 New

:ps3:
Sony Six-Axis Controller $39.99 New (Not a price drop, but $10 cheaper than MSRP)

Nice price on the PS3 controller....and Prey is tempting also. Hmmm, do I need a silver faceplate for $7....I doubt it since the rest of my 360 is sorta exposed.

Thanks for the updates!
