System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Not sure, it wasn't on the price drop list but I don't think the store I was at had any in stock, so I guess someone can ask them to look that one up in the computer. (Or wait until I go back tomorrow.)
 
Prey for $20 looks good, I know that the title says both GameRush & Blockbuster, but their price drops are universal right? I only have a Blockbuster near me, no GameRushes.

As long as your Blockbuster isn't a franchise store, the prices are universal. YMMV on whether your Blockbuster actually carries Prey new though.
 
Prolly OT but I did access point recuiting on MGS:pO (PSP) at my local Blockbuster and I was able to recruit 2 soldiers, one by the emergency exit door and one by the main exit door. \\:D/

The CSR looked at me weird when I walked in the store with my PSP beeping.

Awesome nice to see you were able to nab yourself a PS3. I had no luck at GR but finally hit the jackpot at Best Buy.

I haven't had any luck tracking down a PS3 (non-bundled that is) on-line or in a B&M retailer since launch but I finally lucked out at a B&M Best Buy last Friday 12/8/06. I stopped by Gamestop at about 10:45AM because I had heard they were going to get a shipment in that day. I figured I would wait around until the UPS guy came and hopefully snag one. When I got there I was the 4th customer in line. One was buying Guitar Heroes II, the second and 3rd asked about the Wii systems.

I asked of course about the PS3 units. I was told that they had gotten some in the previous Wednesday and they had no idea when the next shipment would be. One of the Wii customers told me that they had just been to Best Buy and they had the PS3 units in stock. He knew this because people were walking out of the store with them. I drove over there as fast as I could. As I was walking in I saw a man leaving with one in each hand. I hurried inside and went straight for the video game isle. No Wii units but to my complete surprise there were (4) 60GB PS3 units sitting on the shelf! I grabbed two (a friend of mine promised to keep a lookout for me so I did the same for him) and headed to the checkout counter.

To my surprise I was actually able to purchase both of them. The cashier start to ring them up then asked another employee if they were still one per customer. He then called management to ask and they told him they didn't know. He then told me he was just going to ring them up and did. SCORE!!:D

I pick them up from Gamestop/EB when I need a third game during the B2G1 deal. I think I also got a couple new copies from Gamecrazy for like $9 each.
 
I'm pretty sure the GameRush near me had one more Prey CE a week or so ago. I'd definitely pick it up for $20. Not so anxious to pick up the regular edition for that price, though.

Makes me wonder, though, how much trade-in value they give for Prey, or the CE version...
 
Please post if anyone's GR gets the GC version of Zelda:TP. I have the Wii one, but preordered the Cube one literally a year or so ago, and never wanted the hassle of changing the preorder.
 
Oh God! I almost forget i have FFXII pre-order at GR & Zelda (GC). It's mean i have to pickup both of them. Darn! I just bought FFXII & Fatal Frame 3 at TRU today. Hopefully GR let me exchange for different game !!!

Hmmm... I hope you have been monitoring the "lost" preorder hassle many of us went through. If your preorder was OVER a year ago, it might have been cleansed from the system with no warning. You'd better check up on it. Masterkyo - you might have lost BOTH of those preorders. I had problems with my FF XII and Zelda preorders but got it sorted out 3-4 months ago. BTW, I would NOT expect GR to get Zelda in for the GC. Just a hunch. I still have one preordered and was going to cancel it anyway, so I don't really care.

In other news, apparently my fucking GR DID get PS3's in last week. The fuckers. Not that I wanted one, really. Like I said earlier, I would have passed. But I didn't tell THEM that. Here's the kicker - apparently they got 4 and SOLD THEM ALL TO ONE GUY! Now, what he's doing with 4, who knows (he'll get a rude awakening if he's trying to resell them at this point :lol:). But what chaps me is they get rid of the call list (on which I was second) yet SELL THEM ALL TO ONE PERSON! WTF!? I was just in there talking to them about the PS3 early last week - the least they could have done was called and let me know they were there even if they wouldn't hold one. GR never ceases to amaze me...

Oh, and they have no copies of Elebits on order, figures. So I'll have to stick with my EB preorder. The only good news was that I was able to return my Castlevania to GS, so I ended up using GR credit on that.
 
Sorry about your GR.....mine knew that I wanted one, and when I was in returning a movie, she asked if I wanted one. Pulled it aside for me...and BAM, 60GB PS3 for me. I've barely played it, but it's nice....my GR people are nice.

Now, time to build up some credit....I wish they had a trade in deal in the pipeline.

Anywho. Picked up Prey new for $20 yesterday. I asked about the price of a used copy and the manager chuckled as he saw in the system that a used copy is still $34.99.

Now i am worried. I just called local GR & double check my BB account # and it showup nothing in the computer. Kinda $uck if i don't have receipt for both of my Pre-order FFXII & Zelda. Kinda touch to find receipt when my pre-order took over 1 yr. old and the sad part is I already paid off all my pre-order when they running promotion Trade-in 2 games get any new game or Pre-order any game for $29.99.

It was taken down because, if you are going to sticky the GR thread, there is many other sales that affect many more CAG's that also need to be stickied, namely EB / GS.

We don't need to sticky a thread just because they are running 25% off used games and have 10 price drops, for the handful of CAG's who have a Gamerush and actually frequent it.

I've barely ever seen the GR thread go off the first page so it's a non issue.

It's a touchy subject but there was something like 10 or so sticky's and it looked shitty... the threads with awesome deals always stay at the top anyways.

Whether you have it or not, if they have their "research department" look into it, they should see you preordered it whenever, and then you never cancelled the preorder. Just need to talk to a manager and/or district manager.

Yeah, you're screwed ;).

But, really, it is just like Botticus said - tell them you had the preorder (or show the receipt if you have it) and they will have to call HQ to research it. They need to see you haven't cancelled or switched it sometime since you placed it. Someone at HQ did this for my account in 1/2 hour or so (which is impressive given how much I've traded and bought there ;)). Then my manager, who's constantly worried about being audited, dragged his feet on my refund as he had to clear it with loss prevention and his DM. Neither of them wanted to take responsibility so ultimately he just did it - actually let me switch one Zelda to another game and just re-did my FF XII and second Zelda preorders.

As for my store selling all the systems to one person, I don't think an employee got them. He said some guy came in and bought all 4. Whatever... The people at my GR are very nice and friendly as well. I was utterly shocked they would do this. I think it was just carelessness (maybe by some of the newer employees) more than anything.

MechAssault: Phantom War on DS is also $20 now. Not sure if that's a new drop or not. My GR actually has a decent selection of new DS games (but only one or two copies of each). I'll have to go back at some point if they drop Kirby Squeak Squad to $20.
 
Well, my local store had one CE version of Prey, marked $69.99 (which I know is wrong, as there was a previous drop).

Too bad there was NO ONE even near the game section. I was in a hurry and left without learning anything.

I picked up Final Fantasy XII for $9.99 before 25% off discount at a local blockbuster. Anyone know what kind of trade-in value it gets at Gamerush or gamestop?

I would assume $30-$35! You must have gotten the disc-only refurbs that some stores sell for $10. "Normal" used copies of that game will sell for $45 I'm sure.

Other interesting observations:
They were re-marking and putting out for sale several new GBA systems(seemed like they were all red) for $50. Also, they had 3 or 4 original DS systems (with the Metroid Prime Hunters demo) that are going to be sold for $100 each ($80 used). I'm tempted to get one of each for the kids. I just wish they had blue DS's.

I also noticed that Xenosaga Episode III was $29.99 now. Not sure if this was ever in Shipwreck's updates. Personally, I'd like to get it for less than $10 like I did with the other 2 ;), but that's a start.

They also *might* have Wii's tomorrow or Friday.
 
I finally got my TP for Wii after about a month of discussion with GR. They lost my original Zelda preorder that was older than a year. Anyone else succesful with their lost preorders? I just wonder how much GR is going to pocket because people who paid in full might as soon forget they had the preorder at all, and will not recieve so much as a courtesy call to come in and pick it up.

Well, to be fair, they have called me occasionally about preorders - but maybe for 1 out of 10, no more.

I thought someone came on here from BB and said they were working on a comprehensive fix for this issue? It looks like they haven't. I knew there would be a lot of issues when Zelda came out.

To answer your question, we went through all our various stories with the lost preorders about 3-4 months ago. It is all on the last GR thread, I think. Some people were able to get credited right away, and others (like me, and, apparently, like you) had to go through a lengthy process to get them. Others claimed they were out of luck, though we never heard much follow-up from them. But most of the regulars here managed to get either the $50 back or a new preorder for Zelda (and FF XII and a handful of other games - notably Okami and Gran Turismo Mobile - basically things that got delayed for a while).

I still have several preorders at GR. The next one I'm going to have to keep an eye on is Super Paper Mario, which is a game that seems to have disappeared completely. Funny thing is, that was originally a $30 preorder deal game (I forget which) and I switched it to Super Paper Mario several months back. I'm guessing this game will come out for the Wii late in 2007. If I keep on top of it and "refresh" it (by cancelling and reordering) then I'll end up getting what will probably be a pretty damn good Wii game for $30. Same with Metroid Prime 3 (which was one of my original Zelda preorders).
 
I know my Halo 3 preorder is still in the system, as the girl laughed at me and said, you'll be waiting for a while, eh?

So, any news on any kind of trade in deals? I want to unload a few 360 games, but don't really know what I'd get....and no $5 deal at my store.

After this I'm done with GR preorders. I only got one courtesy call and that was to pick up my Xbox 360;) . I still have about $200 in GR credit and I'm lucky enough to be near a GR that actually gets most of their stuff on time. They even have a HD-DVD player if anyone is looking for one (La Habra on Beach Blvd.) Get this though, they lost my paperwork for TP so I had to purchase TP with a credit card and then I have to go back to get a refund (I'm going tomorrow if possible). Lovely, eh?

Keep the reciept for that damn thing, and make sure you call them every day (maybe twice a day) to make sure they don't just "forget about it".
 
Stores in the Cincinnati area received a printout from corporate which showed the individuals that preordered Zelda for GC. I would suggest checking with management to determine if they received that list.
 
Just got the email on the rent 2 for $10 deal and the small print says it works for all systems including ps3, 360, and Wii. From the website:

Rent 2 Games for $10
Rent two (2) games for $10.00 plus tax at participating BLOCKBUSTER® stores for a limited time. So it appears that they've dropped the exclusions on the 25% off used game sale at my local GR's now as well, so it looks like that should be national.

ie. Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Wii used games should ring up as 25% off officially now.

So, just in case this got lost in all the other discussion, new GBA's are now $50, and new DS phats are now $100 (with appropriate used drops I assume).

I think I'm going to snag another GBA as a backup - hopefully they will still be there tomorrow (I may call to see if they will hold one). I can't imagine ever finding one again for $20 or so (real cost of my credit). Also, maybe we can finally play Four Swords semi-properly (2 of the 4) ;).

After all, with no PS3 purchase I DO still have a ton of credit, might as well use it on something. The DS, though, I'm not sure about. I really don't want that clunky old Silver thing - blue I would do, but not silver.

It would probably be best to get another confirmation of this. But I'm fairly certain it is system-wide as my store almost never does things on it's own. But this could be a first I suppose ;).

Edit - OK, I will never understand eBay. On a hunch I checked what Silver DS's were selling for. NEW, they sell for $140-$150. WTF? I figured it would be $80 or something. Damn, and I sold my Teal one (used) for about $100 a few months back when I got my DS Lite. I don't even want to look at what a truly limited one like that sells for now (don't tell me Roufuss!). I find it incredibly amusing that I could make more profit from selling a 2 year-old retail packaged DS than a brand new PS3. Maybe I will get one from GR tomorrow :rofl:.

Just called the GR I pre-ordered Zelda GC from. She said they'll be getting it in two weeks(!). I mentioned some people's pre-orders getting lost, but that I had the receipt. She said I should be fine.


Anyone know what NFS: Carbon and Cars -- both for Wii -- are fetching in trade?
 
Damn nice price on Prey. Though I expect this game will be an even bigger (smaller?) bargain bin title in a matter of months.
