OTHER INFO

I consider deals confirmed when I receive the MAP on every other Thursday. The Map outlines promos and how the store is to be layed out and includes the barcodes for the deals. Also we get the new trade flyers that day as well with new trade values and deals.

Deals usually end on close of business on Monday and begin on open Tuesday (some special ones do start on Thursday usually around labor day, memorial day, etc.)

They also have coupons in magazines for great deals, so be sure to check EGM, GamePro, and several other magazines.

GameRush is starting to expand, so check the store locator every once in awhile to see if one is coming to an area near you.

All BlockBuster's should now accept trades, so the trade in prices for BB and GR should be similar, but normal BBs will not always have the deals that GameRush has.

GameRush accepts game trades without case and instructions and the games can be in poor condition depending on the employee.

You must have a BB account and sign a trade agreement to trade at GameRush.

Please be careful if you scam GameRush (by flipping games) they do have the abillity to ban you from all GameRush locations if they want to (and as I have done but that was only because I was tired of crap PS1...).

Release dates - Go by the shipping date. 9 times out of 10 it is not what the Blockbuster computer says. The computer date is when traditional stores can expect to receive their rental games.

Game Rush receives games typically on Tuesday and Wednesday of the games release. Only reason EB and Gamestop get them a day before is because they get special shipments or their dm picks the games up and brings back that evening (or they are near distribution centers).

Some games have street dates but this is few and far between (outrun 2, halo 2, star wars episode 3, doom 3 are it in the past 6 months).
Thanks for the advice Fellas! I just got off the phone with 3 more Blockbusters. It's really tough to find Star Fox or Custom Robo new for sale; none so far. I'll be sure to mention Map 12, and Pitch Pack next time.

edit...: just got done calling the 10th Blockbuster in my area. None have Star Fox or Custom Robo new for sale. That's enough dialing for me.

I'm off to kill that guy with the claws in the Castle who stabbed me in the head last night. Time for some payback with the Broken Butterfly, Mofo! :D
So is the sale not on at regular Blockbusters then? There are no GameRushes anywhere around here :(

I think it is if you can find employees that can look it up in the right place (it is not automatic - they must scan a barcode to activate the discount). Also, good luck actually FINDING any of the 50% off Nintendo titles at a non-GR BB. Most of the BB around me have a TOTAL of 5 or 6 new Gamecube games - and they are the usual smattering of older Player's Choice titles (SSMB, Animal Crossing, etc). Fortunately the one GR near me had most of the titles on the list (though I had to ask as they didn't have any of them on the floor).

Banning people for flipping seems to be a policy though... right?
Just to let people know.... the manager Virgil at the BLOCKBUSTER/GAMERUSH in Riverside, off of La Sierra is banning people from stores. He's watching people for flipping, and then getting their accounts banned. If you've been banned for flipping, and you've been to that store, then you know who to thank. Anyone know his last name? He's the manager, and he's a total hypacrite, making up rules that are not in the policy. Someone needs to report him.
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (GC) $20 (W/O Drum) ........ I bought It
Paper Mario (GC) $25 (Already bought copy EBGAMES for $20)
Pikmin 2 (GC) $22.49..... I Bought It
Donkey Kong Country 2 (GBA) $15 ....... I Bought it
Pokemon: Ruby Version (GBA) $17.49........ Do Pricecheck on it
Zelda: Four Swords (GC) $19.99 .......... Do Price Check on It

What's up? Nice to see another Riverside area CAG.

I was actually planning on checking out that store, but I haven't been yet. I go to the Moreno Valley store on Alessandro, and the employees there suck. They'll tell me one day that I can stack deals, then the next, I can't... Then the next day after that, I can.

They also don't seem to know that half the deals even exist in the first place. The worst person there by far is this skinny, mannish looking black chick with cornrows who claims to be a manager. She's rude to everyone and tries to screw people over.

I picked up the following:

GCN:
Metroid Prime 2 - $22.50
Pikmin 2 - $22.50
Four Swords - $20.00

GBA:
Mario Pinball Land - $15.00
Mario Golf: Advance Tour - $12.50
FF 1&2: Dawn of Souls - $15.00
F Zero: GP Legend -$10.00
Zelda II -$7.50

Total with tax: -$134.32

Does Four Swords always come with the GBA link cable? When I bought the one at GameRush, they only gave me the game by itself (most of the new gamecube games had display boxes where they later got the actual game behind the counter).

The only game that I also wanted from the list that wasn't there was Custom Robo. I might try a few more Gamerushs later, though it wouldn't be too big of a deal if I wasn't able to pick it up.

CoryCubed, thank you so much for what you contribute to this place. You have saved us all so much money. You are very much appreciated. Thanks again!! I've saved so much money and I haven't even taken advantage of the trade in deals yet!
well i almost lost it i talked the dm into letting me keep them, but then i got pissed and cancelled all of them and spent the money on b2g1f
Take this as a gentle reminder.

Threadcrapping or personal attacks are highly frowned upon. If this thread turns into nothing but that, I'll happily lock it and not let another one get made.

Stop with it. Right now.

Have I made myself clear?

Thank God for Shrike.

Anyways, my friend traded Astro Boy (PS2) in for $8 yesterday. This game can be picked up for $5 at Best Buy or for free if you can use the $5 off coupon. I don't know if the trade in price for Astro Boy had been posted yet, since this "deal" thread is so freaking annoying to wade through.

To answer the post about having luck at the local BBs. I like in NY as well, and found that it's really not worth it. I went to three different BBs and while I ended up with Mario Tennis (GC), MK Deception and Jak 3, I hardly would describe these as great deals. I had to trade in a few games, but what I got in return was not what many others are finding at true GameRush stores. Nothing new, only some decent games, often without manuals. It didnt' seem worth it to me, 'cause there just wasn't much to gain from it. Most of the stores only carry Greatest Hits as far as new games go, and those aren't worth trading in for.

Thanks, was wondering the trade in value before I picked some up.

god damn it... I have TWO Blockbusters around where I live and NONE has GameRush. (all they got is a single double sided rack to sell games...)

Thanks op.
stopped by at lunch.
got final fantasy I &II for GBA for 16.00 and tried to get mario golf too.
for some reason tho, mario golf didn't go thru.
probably try another bb after work.

Haven't seen it posted in this thread yet -- trading it in at FYE for $18 seems like the better deal, thouh.

To me, $8 at GameRush is worth more than $18 at FYE. This is especially the case if you use the traded game as part of one of GR's deals. It all depends on what you are looking to get out of your credit though.

So what you're saying is they did know about and let you do all the deals....they just didn't have any good preowned games?

If you use the trade 2 to preorder a game for 29.99, do you also get the trade in credit for the games?

So two Astro Boy's nets you 14 dollars in credit, plus a preorder of a game for 29.99?

If so, that's way better than FYE.

For those of us with a Gamerush, that is.

I snagged a half-price Mario Power Tennis at a local GR yesterday. As stated in here, the employees didn't know about the sale, but had no problem scanning it in some binder once I politely mentioned it.

Another bit of advice that may be common knowledge to many: Not all new games they have are on the shelves. They have a bunch of stuff in drawers behind the GameRush counter (which has NEVER been used for ringing up at this particular location). That's where they found the Mario Tennis.
They have a bunch of stuff in drawers behind the GameRush counter (which has NEVER been used for ringing up at this particular location).
Same here... I think that counter is just for display :p

Hopefully going to get Zelda 2 for GBA for half price, but the Gamerush that had it apparently has no signage up for the sale and didn't even know about it when asked.

This should be real fun...

i went to a local BB and preordered 2 conker's (1 for me, 1 for my uncle). i traded in:

tekken 5- $30
ncaa march madness - $12.50 (2x)
metal gear soild 2 substance (since it didn't have a manual, and there was all this goo on it) - $8

i got DK jungle beat also for $20. is custom robo worth picking up for $15?
I'm still looking for a good complete copy of that game, but I don't think I would even touch that one at all just take a look at what that goo was. So what was it anyways?.....NVM I don't want to know.

Is that $12.50 each or $6.25 x2?

That's great if it's $12.50 each as I just got shot down at my wherehouse trying to trade one in, they said they already had too many.

I saw Astro Boy is going for $7-8

Anyone know the trade values for the other $5 games from BBs recent price drop?
Did you get the demo for pre ordering Conker?
If you are talking about the Conker Demo, you can get them at Best Buy for free. That is, if you have a Best Buy and they have any left.

metal gear soild 2 substance (since it didn't have a manual, and there was all this goo on it) - $8

i got DK jungle beat also for $20. is custom robo worth picking up for $15?
So your local BB actually gets preorders and allows you to use the trade 2 get any preorder for 29.99?

Well, in all 3 Blockbuster stores I had to show them the big red signs that said 'trade 3 and get any pre-owned for 5 dollars'. Once they saw the sign they would look confused, and read their manual (some book that tells them if any deals are revoked). Once they realized it was real, they did the deals without problems. My only gripe is that I had to struggle to find anything worthwhile to get. I would've used my trade-in credit for newer games, but when all they carry is Greatest Hits, it's just not that great of a deal.

The Trade 3, Buy for $5 deal is VERY much alive in NC. At least at my non-GR BB.
did even realize they had this going on at non-GR stores. They have the trade 3 for $5 at non gr stores? how about the $29.99 deal. ALL blockbuster take trades? Hope I can find a blockbuster that Camelking has some how missed;)

Wow a lot of Riversiders! I stayed away from the la sierra one, because the workers are pretty retarded. If you guys like to make the trip, go to the gamerush on Sierra Ave. They have good games, and the workers are cool. I just picked up God of War and Digital Devil Saga there. The one in Highland ain't bad either but they always seem to be cleaned out of the good games, but the workers are nice though.

to anwser someone's question above, NCAA march maddness 2005 gets 12.50 each.

I always go to the La Sierra one. All my trips are at night though, usually around 10pm. I have always been able to double dip deals without problems and they always have the games in on time (gamerush standards). Maybe the night crew is better?

The one in Corona wouldn't let me combine any deals, so I left.

ha ha ha, remeber i was banned from trading, but a friend of mine found a mint FVII AND and ff tatics, got them on the 5 for 15 ps1 deal

as far as doing the trade 2 get preowned for 29.99, how are folks finding it at regular blockbusters? do the cashiers know about the deal, or do you have to tell them that you saw it on the internet and get them to look it up?

My roommate has been doing alot of flipping lately. He's built up quite a few preorders and credit and is finally gonna take my advice and lay low for a lil while.

Unfortunately i dont have his receipts but i remember Ghost Recon 2 has dropped to $16 because I have that game and had been thinking o trading it in.
nope. i might have to ask them about that.
what's on the demo? Is it the same one from XBM a couple months ago? I've had my COnkers preordered since forever ago.

Found what I thought was pretty good deal: HipGear Wavebird Battery Packs are on clearance for $0.99. Picked up 5 (one for each wavebird, plus a spare).

(for those wondering, it's basically 2 1000mAh rechargable batteries in a holder w/ an AC adapter to charge them)

edit: A further note for those interested -- after looking at the ones that I got, apparently there are 2 different versions of this. One has the two metal bar looking things on the outside like the picture in the following post (they don't appear to serve any purpose). The other version, most likely slightly newer, has a little LED to indicate whether or not it's charging.

Sweet! I will have to check out my GR.

Here's a link to what these look like.

I don't know if this was answered yet...is the 50% nintendo deal only good at Gamerush and not regular Blockbuster?

Like already asked is that 12.50 per game and is that 2004? Thanks.

I went to my local Gamerush here in South Carolina (Myrtle Beach). Tried the $29.99 pre-order and they said it was over and to check back cause it might come back.

strange. now my gamerush wont let me cancel a preorder and move it onto another game if i used the trade 2 get any new game for 30. they will only give me 30 back, even if i want to put all the credit on a game.

Once you pick up the game, you'll more likely have an easier time returning it or swapping it right then for something else.

I just think it’s interesting that there’s all this debate if it’s ethical to exploit the loop holes in Gamerush policies…. Whether it’s right or wrong etc…. but what about if the manager is guilty of flipping? I know my friend works at the La Sierra Gamerush, and was checking on Virgil’s account. He let some Brian guy do a trade AFTER his account was flagged. Virgil also flips, he just does with the different people’s accounts so nothing shows up on his name. i.e. a family friend or a customer. No wonder all the employees don’t like him…..
