GameStop Game Days Sale
Online only: Use coupon code GD10 for an extra 10% off

(3/26-4/25)
Sale is for NEW GAMES/ACCESSORIES ONLY
Begins Friday March 26th and Ends April 25th

Please visit http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/
for the most up to date and accurate list, although if you are visiting before 3/26/10 the sale prices may not be updated yet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS[hiddenlist]
Q. Why is Saw (360/PS3) $24.99 and not $19.99 like originally posted?
A. It seems the price was read wrong at first, or just assumed to be $19.99, as the accurate and final list has it listed for $24.99. The game is still garbage in my opinion, but is an easy 1000 Achievement Points / Platinum Trophy. I recommend renting it, or waiting for a lower price.

Q. WHERE IS THE 10% Game Day Sale Coupon????
A. The past few Game Day sales did have a 10% coupon inside the Game Informer magazines, However the current Game Informer (Portal 2 on the cover) that has the Game Day sale advertised DOES NOT have the coupon. No official word if a coupon will be given or exist at this time. Just keep checking the thread for updates from fellow CAGS. Perhaps it will be distributed in the next Game Informer (in April) or with the Weekly Coupon in the GameStop E-mails.

Q. Will the games be gutted? if so how do I get a SEALED copy?
A. Yes, stores always gut their games to put into the sale bin. YMMV on whether the store guts every copy, or just one of each copy of the game. Best advice, is to get their early on the first day in hopes they did not get around to getting all the copies yet. Some stores in my area seem to hate gutting multiple copies, and generally just gut one copy in general as a standard. Once again YMMV.

It's GameStop expect gutted copies, if anything try to price match with BestBuy since the prices will be posted online here: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/

Q. Why does GameStop GUT their games?
A. I assume it is obviously to prevent theft since they are a small retail store (space wise), and not like BestBuy. It is not cost effective for a company that operates in small locations to use security detectors (more cost), so the GUT method works for them. Just politely ask for a sealed copy if they have it, or just say no thanks. Please don't complain in the threads. Shit gets old. I hate gutted copies just like the next guy, but it is nothing new, just move on.

Q. Are the games on sale NEW or USED?
A. All games/accessories on sale are NEW. If a Buy 2 Get 1 Free does occur during the Game Day sale then that will be for USED games only.

Q. Will the USED prices drop because the NEW ones are on sale?
A. Depends, typically when a NEW game is on a temporarily price drop, the USED copy will stay at its current price. So Assassins Creed 2 which is on sale for $29.99 NEW during the sale, may still have a USED price of $54.99. However, there are times when they will drop the USED price as well to reflect the NEW price drop.

Q.
Where is the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Used Games?
A. As far as I recall, GameStop usually holds a B2G1 Free at the beginning and/or end of the Game Days sale. I just got this list from fellow CAGs Driftninja & arcurifisher, and just organized it. Although the other threads have not 100% confirmed it as of 3/25/10, I think it is pretty safe to say there will be a B2G1 sometime during this Game Day sale. Check back for updates.

Q. These games on sale are horrible, any chance of better games being added?
A. Yes, I agree a good portion of the games are horrible, I mean "My Baby First Steps" seriously?. GameStop is known to add / remove games during the Game Day sales, so yes some new titles could be added, but don't expect it to be anything great, but you never know, maybe this year...

Q. Why were there so many threads on this sale?
A. Not sure why since I didn't make them, but don't flame the thread creators because it is just people trying to contribute to the CAG community. Just be polite please, and hopefully we will have a single thread to follow during the sale.[/hiddenlist]

I'd say try to find it on clearance at Target. I think it's around $7-$10 but YMMV. I bought it for $5 at the Hollywood Video sale after Thanksgiving and I liked the game. Compared to most superhero open world games it's probably one of the better ones. Although I haven't played Infamous yet...

Its not as polished as a game like infamous, but from what ive seen, and how the controls feel its got a very similar feeling to "HULK ultimate destruction". I'm gunna get it if they don't have any sale later on.
I didn't care for Prototype, personally. For $20, you would probably enjoy it if you were interested.
Will pick it up if I can find a sealed one. I should have just got it when I bought COD W@W yesterday,

Went to my local gamestop today to get Persona 4, but they didn't have it out on the gameday sale. Was worried they had sold out when I went to the wall and found it still sitting there listed as 29.99, took it up to the counter and scanned it and it was 19.99, so I was able to get a sealed copy :)

This happened to me yesterday. I also got a sealed one but opened it because I already have a sealed one (I traded my play copy after I beat it after it came out). :D

Probably going to play it a few hours here and there again. I loved that game. One of my fave RPGs on the :ps2: if not my absolute favorite :)

You are in for a treat man. Both P3 FES & P4 are so awesome. Expect to spend a shitload of time on both!
How is Prototype, is it worth the price?
Prototype is great if you enjoy bs wasting time killing people. It feels a lot like Hulk Ultimate Destruction but with massive amounts of blood. I ended up playing it more than inFamous because once you beat inFamous there are no more baddies to fight, not even random street crimes (and no game mode +), but with Prototype you can either continue exploring the world killing randomly or restart the story keeping all of your powers.
It's actually made by the same developers (Radical ent.) who made Hulk Ultimate Destruction :D
Hulk Ultimate Destruction was really fun can't wait to play Prototype.
I placed an order last night and applied some edge credit i had and they also took off the 2.99 bullshit handling fee, but when i got my order confirmation and check my order history my total doesnt reflect the -2.99 and the credit i used, is this normal behavior and they'll update when it ships or did i get screwed?
All my orders show the fee taken off when I submit the order on the final ordering page, but then on my emails and invoice they show the $2.99 fee still there. However, the final total still reflects that the $2.99 was not applied on the email and invoice. As for credit, it does not show that on email or invoice either. Just check your edge credit on GS site before and after your order is shipped.
Actually, I tried making a 'zomg GS sucks' consolidated bitching thread a while ago, but it got buried somewhere on the deal/shopping discussion board.

If I find it, I'll post a link for those wanting someplace to vent about GS.:D Maybe that'll make the 'omg shut up about how GS sucks' people happy finally, though I sincerely doubt it since they're as fervent in their hate of we GS haters as we are in our disdain for GS' practices.
I recall making one as well and getting yelled at for it when I posted a link to it in a GS sales thread (because I was sick of reading nothing but complaining about GS). But I welcome you posting that thread or anyone able to get a GS bash thread going so at least some of the complaining gets diverted to there instead of here. If we have to go off topic for a few posts to eliminate 100 times as many coming, I think it's worth it.
Eh, I'd much rather hear complaining than something actually happening in a GS over it. Of course the latter is quite unlikely, but I wouldn't doubt it happening in a few years as gaming becomes even more mainstream (if that's even possible at this point) and consumers become more savvy about this area (is this even possible? lol)
Not gonna happen. As a matter of fact it is the exact opposite effect. As gaming becomes more mainstream, less "GAMERS" are buying games [if you know what I mean]. It's all mainstream and mostly parents buying for children etc. etc. Parents and kids like to be able to go to the wall and grab the game and physically touch and feel it. Be able to read the rating description on the back etc., see what the games all about by the pics and description on the back of the case, talk to people with unbiased hands on opinions, and are knowledgeable about games and the industry. That is why gamestop is a fortune 500 company and ridiculously profitable. They provide a great service to the masses. Not the 5% of the population that whine about gutting games.

Ask yourself...if you had a company, would you want to appeal to 95% of the population or 5%?......So yeah it kinda sux being the "Gamers" we are, but I understand their position.

I love going to Walmart and asking for help! I always end up being the one providing the help to the employee! LOLZ
so how do people get away with 20xbox when u read the coupon plainly

Coupon 20XBOX - 20% off all in-stock XBOX 360 titles. Valid for first 2,000 customers only. Expires 11:59 am on 3/24/10.
I assume it's a glitch since the system still accepts it (I don't know why it hasn't been fixed yet). I haven't seen anybody say that their order was cancelled as a result.
It's actually made by the same developers (Radical ent.) who made Hulk Ultimate Destruction :D
After I started playing Prototype, it felt like a slightly graphically updated H: UD for me where they had just switched out some of the character skins. Then again, I thoroughly enjoyed H: UD, so I really enjoyed Prototype.
Not gonna happen. As a matter of fact it is the exact opposite effect. As gaming becomes more mainstream, less "GAMERS" are buying games [if you know what I mean]. What Gamestops have you been going to? Many of the 'knowledgeable employees' are quite biased towards one game or system or the other or the local DM and managers hire 'eye candy'(girls with a penchant for wearing low cut tops for the male gamers to drool over)who know all of jack and shit about games.

Although they've been retaining quite a few of the actual gamer employees as of late and more and more of them are less biased anymore. So maybe people complained they weren't getting much info from the employees and they actually listened?

Haha yeah maybe, well the problem is actually the hiring of "Gamers", those are not the employees that gamestop wants. It is always good to have 1 on staff for some questions, but with the addition of Gostores for easy access it typically has an answer for most. [at least the clients that Gamestop is gearing towrds]

And actually you are right, I take it back, the "well ran" Gamestops will not get you someone that can give you an unbiased review so yes "Gamers" can throw that out the window. However us "Gamers" typically rely on online websites for our reviews, well at least myself and the ones I know...:/

Problem where?

Went to the GameStop in front of me. Noticed they had only one copy of Persona 4 and...HELLO! What's this? A $14.99 Game Days price tag slapped on there. Instantly snatched and went to pay.

Unfortunately, it didn't ring up for said price and instead came up at $19.99. Guy eyed me as if I had slapped it on there (this is the same guy that always gives me grief and rolled his eyes at me when I wanted him to exchange a used wireless 360 controller he had handed me because part of the left stick was missing a chunk of its rubber grip) and told me he'll "give me a 10% discount", which turned out to be the Game Days price of $20 (doesn't take a math genius to figure that you can't get $20 from 10% off of $30). Didn't help that the game was gutted and upon inspection outside, I noticed there had been chocolate stains on the box.

Either this was the oldest copy they had sitting around in the store (as I've seen only one new and one used there for the longest time), or someone handled the case poorly, seeing as how not only did the outside get stained at the bottom, but it also found its way on the actual cover (even on the backside).

I *really* wish the damn thing had come back in stock online. This is why I hate gutted new games.

are AC2 and W@W worth it? do people still play W@W online? Also, has Lair improved any? I remember playing it about a year ago and it just was painful

I got the last Persona 4 at my store earlier today. My store never runs out of game. Ever...

It was gutted and the sticker was a pain to take off, but it looks great and I can't wait to dive into it. Persona 4 is a masterpiece, and I really wish I could find Persona 3 locally. Still waiting on the B2G1!

Yes they're both worth it, and the WaW community is still pretty active
Anyone managed to get a word from their GS about a B2G1?
Not yet but the 2nd I hear I will post. Typically only Regionals only know that info, then the day before they will tell the DM's who then relay to store mgrs.

I'll see what I can find out today...

The campaign is awesome, but the big downside of the multiplayer are the 3-map packs. Great if you want to buy them (isn't it another $20 for the three?), but without the mappacks, you'll play a map, then get kicked for not having the next map, then wait while you find another match with a basic map, play what's left of the time on that map, then get kicked again for not having the next map.

Doesn't look like it's happening. Same with the 10% coupon.

Game Days this year is different enough, compared to the previous ones.

-No UMDs
-No coupon
-No B2G1
-Fewer quality games with little variety

Seriously, looking at the list...the Wii has two House of the Deads, two Resident Evils and three Sonics. 360 and PS3 has three Call of Duties, four Guitar Heroes (and a laughable Rock Revolution).

DS got screwed over this year. Last year it had Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy III, Metal Slug 7 and Sonic Rush Adventure. This year it's mostly just throwaway games, with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 being a repeat game from last year.

PSP's almost in the same boat as well. Last year it had Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai and Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai: Another Road, Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy Tactics and Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops. Phantasy Star Portable's another repeat from the year before.

Yeah, we're seeing slightly better titles in number this year on the consoles, but there were better games overall last year. Last year also gave us Sam & Max Season 1, Valkyria Chronicles, Namco Museum Virtual Arcade, Devil May Cry Aniverssary Collection, Resident Evil: The Essentials and Persona 3 FES.

There's...a real lack of diversity in the quality titles this year.

I got a question guys. So during b1g1 i brought a couple games but didnt really like them. However the free games that i got from the deal i liked. So can i still get a refund but keep the free games or will have to give up the free games? Sorry i sound so cheap.

Something tells me we'll still see the B2G1 soon. I just have a hunch. They had one about this time last year when RE5 came out before Gamedays (so there were two sales within a short time). I see one happening before summer, probably near Splinter Cell's release?

My Gameday copy came with a code for MAP Pack 1. It was taped on the outside of the case.

it's frowned upon by both this community and gamestop.

I think that was a joke. I don't know the answer to your question, but it's funny to apologize for being cheap on a site with this name.

YMMV on all gutting at you stores I only found 2 gamestops that gutted 1 copy and kept the rest in their cabinet.

Think about this for half a second.

If you were retailer and sold games B1G1, would you allow someone else to return just one game and keep the game that's free?

COME ON MAN!

Was surprised to get a sealed copy of Persona 4 at just the 2nd GS store I've visited. Never expected to find any. Now, if my order arrives sealed, it would really make my week.

Might have to consider picking up Persona 3 FES also but I know a PSP version of this game is slated for July. Not sure if it's worth it to pick up the PS2 version?

You've been here over a year and have never seen this scenario discussed? Really? I think I saw this discussion about 5 times my first week.

Did you hear that GS guts their new games? So much for "new" huh?

Decided to at least just pick up MGS4. Worth it even though I passed it by many other times at lower prices. Plus my copy was NEW...not gutted. Oh well...more money saved due to no variety (at least to my liking as well).

Just picked up Sacred 2,CoD4 (not gutted :), and afro samurai. Also got ME 2 from best buy for $40. Good day for me.
My only complain is that my "New" Sacred 2 disc has few scratches on it.
