FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS[hiddenlist]
Q. Why is Saw (360/PS3) $24.99 and not $19.99 like originally posted?
 A. It seems the price was read wrong at first, or just assumed to be $19.99, as the accurate and final list has it listed for $24.99. The game is still garbage in my opinion, but is an easy 1000 Achievement Points / Platinum Trophy. I recommend renting it, or waiting for a lower price.

Q. WHERE IS THE 10% Game Day Sale Coupon????
 A. The past few Game Day sales did have a 10% coupon inside the Game Informer magazines, However the current Game Informer (Portal 2 on the cover) that has the Game Day sale advertised DOES NOT have the coupon. No official word if a coupon will be given or exist at this time. Just keep checking the thread for updates from fellow CAGS. Perhaps it will be distributed in the next Game Informer (in April) or with the Weekly Coupon in the GameStop E-mails.

Q. Will the games be gutted? if so how do I get a SEALED copy?
A. Yes, stores always gut their games to put into the sale bin. YMMV on whether the store guts every copy, or just one of each copy of the game. Best advice, is to get their early on the first day in hopes they did not get around to getting all the copies yet. Some stores in my area seem to hate gutting multiple copies, and generally just gut one copy in general as a standard. Once again YMMV.

Q. Why does GameStop GUT their games?
A. I assume it is obviously to prevent theft since they are a small retail store (space wise), and not like BestBuy. It is not cost effective for a company that operates in small locations to use security detectors (more cost), so the GUT method works for them. Just politely ask for a sealed copy if they have it, or just say no thanks. Please don't complain in the threads. Shit gets old. I hate gutted copies just like the next guy, but it is nothing new, just move on.

Q. Are the games on sale NEW or USED?
A. All games/accessories on sale are NEW. If a Buy 2 Get 1 Free does occur during the Game Day sale then that will be for USED games only.

Q. Will the USED prices drop because the NEW ones are on sale?
A. Depends, typically when a NEW game is on a temporarily price drop, the USED copy will stay at its current price. So Assassins Creed 2 which is on sale for $29.99 NEW during the sale, may still have a USED price of $54.99. However, there are times when they will drop the USED price as well to reflect the NEW price drop.

Q. Where is the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Used Games?
A. As far as I recall, GameStop usually holds a B2G1 Free at the beginning and/or end of the Game Days sale. I just got this list from fellow CAGs Driftninja & arcurifisher, and just organized it. Although the other threads have not 100% confirmed it as of 3/25/10, I think it is pretty safe to say there will be a B2G1 sometime during this Game Day sale. Check back for updates.

Q. These games on sale are horrible, any chance of better games being added?
A. Yes, I agree a good portion of the games are horrible, I mean "My Baby First Steps" seriously?. GameStop is known to add / remove games during the Game Day sales, so yes some new titles could be added, but don't expect it to be anything great, but you never know, maybe this year...

Q. Why were there so many threads on this sale?
A. Not sure why since I didn't make them, but don't flame the thread creators because it is just people trying to contribute to the CAG community. Just be polite please, and hopefully we will have a single thread to follow during the sale.[/hiddenlist]

Bayonetta and Blazblue are both quite tempting.

More than I could say for last year. Last year there was nothing worth even bothering to go to the store imo.
 
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel - $19.99 can't bet that. Increasingly longing for that game now.
I was actually hoping to see Fable II: Game of the Year Edition in the list, but that really would be considered robbery.

Course, I'm the idiot that spent like 23 dollars on a USED copy of BlazBlue last week during the B1G1F. Its a good thing I technically got two games for that price.

I'm def in for COD4 GOTY and possibly Fallout3. Rest I already have or is garbage, sadly.

so if many of the used prices aren't going to drop, why would i consider waiting for the B2G1? Say I want bayonetta and Blazblue now. That would be $60. But in a B2G1 i would get them used for like $45 and $25 at best. Ok then i get another $25 game for free, say wolverine. So thats still 3 used for $70, when i could get those 3 new for $80. Maybe it makes a bigger diff on other scenarios, but if these are a good $10 or so cheaper than most of the used prices for the same game, it barely seems worth it to me.

Well, if you're like me, and you don't buy the map packs, you get one map to play over and over. That was interesting for about 5-10 plays. The lack of options and variety was a real downer.

Also, MW was a superb game in general.

Two of GS' "Used Deals of the Week" ending today are Quantum of Solace ($15) & Sacred 2 ($25) for 360. So what are two of their Gamedays items for sale? You guessed it: Quantum of Solace ($15) & Sacred 2 ($20). Nothing like making your customers feel like they got a good deal at one price for a used game, then turning around and selling the same games NEW for the same and even lower prices! I guess they know that most of their customers don't pay much attention to that silly concept of price.

I know Sacred 2 is a big game with a lot to do. How is the local multiplayer on that game? Can the whole game be played through cooperatively on one console? I see it at the $20 price and I am on the fence about it.

I would have picked up DBZ but I am still not feeling the price.

multiplayer is up to 4 online or up to 2 offline.

so yes, co-op on one console. 2 players max.

the title has quite a few shortcomings, but if you enjoy this type of game you can get a lotta gameplay for $20.
i think i put around 150 hours on the PS3 version going for the Platinum.

One thing that is really annoying in co-op, that ultimately made me and my friend stop playing, is that only one person can look through menus at a time. So whenever there are inventory changes, level ups, or you need to look at your skills, it has to be done one person at a time.

Its one reason. But its mainly how the GameStop brass think of costs. Why order cases and printouts when you can gut a copy and put that box on the shelf?

The problem I have with gutting is when I pre-order something I expect a sealed copy. Not the last "Store" gutted copy because some bozo didn't review the pre-order list. Grr. :bomb:

Activision seems to want even more money, and have now taken to bait and switch marketing tactics. Previous version of this Game of the Year Edition have been advertised as coming with a token you could use to download the Variety Map Pack. It's a gimmick used for pretty much all Game of the Edition games. It's what makes them worth the purchase over the older version of the game. Without this token, downloading the map pack is going to cost you about $10.

So now without any public notice, Activision has stopped including the free tokens inside GOTY Edition games. Making this game $48.99 (if you want the new maps) instead of Amazon's current price of $38.99. Buyer beware.

Buy this game used and don't let Activision rip you off as they did me.

It would also be nice to see Amazon put up a notice denoting this game will no longer include the map packs.

I could go into my entire rant, but just know that in the UK and Australia, gutting games is a standard. It's not some big conspiracy. It's a cheap and efficient solution. Only people with knee jerk reactions to bits of cellophane have an issue with it and it's getting tiring to hear about it.

At the end of the day, the game will play the same and if it's the cheapest price, then isn't that the goal of CAG?
 
I'm thinking of picking up Pure, Fuel, Sonic's Collection, and Sacred 2 all for PS3. With those, and a pre-order for 3D Dot Game Heroes, that should be the last of my credit.
