GameStop Game Days Sale
Online only: Use coupon code GD10 for an extra 10% off

(3/26-4/25)
Sale is for NEW GAMES/ACCESSORIES ONLY
Begins Friday March 26th and Ends April 25th

Please visit http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/
for the most up to date and accurate list, although if you are visiting before 3/26/10 the sale prices may not be updated yet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS[hiddenlist]
Q. Why is Saw (360/PS3) $24.99 and not $19.99 like originally posted?
A. It seems the price was read wrong at first, or just assumed to be $19.99, as the accurate and final list has it listed for $24.99. The game is still garbage in my opinion, but is an easy 1000 Achievement Points / Platinum Trophy. I recommend renting it, or waiting for a lower price.

Q. WHERE IS THE 10% Game Day Sale Coupon????
A. The past few Game Day sales did have a 10% coupon inside the Game Informer magazines, However the current Game Informer (Portal 2 on the cover) that has the Game Day sale advertised DOES NOT have the coupon. No official word if a coupon will be given or exist at this time. Just keep checking the thread for updates from fellow CAGS. Perhaps it will be distributed in the next Game Informer (in April) or with the Weekly Coupon in the GameStop E-mails.

Q. Will the games be gutted? if so how do I get a SEALED copy?
A. Yes, stores always gut their games to put into the sale bin. YMMV on whether the store guts every copy, or just one of each copy of the game. Best advice, is to get their early on the first day in hopes they did not get around to getting all the copies yet. Some stores in my area seem to hate gutting multiple copies, and generally just gut one copy in general as a standard. Once again YMMV.

It's GameStop expect gutted copies, if anything try to price match with BestBuy since the prices will be posted online here: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/

Q. Why does GameStop GUT their games?
A. I assume it is obviously to prevent theft since they are a small retail store (space wise), and not like BestBuy. It is not cost effective for a company that operates in small locations to use security detectors (more cost), so the GUT method works for them. Just politely ask for a sealed copy if they have it, or just say no thanks. Please don't complain in the threads. Shit gets old. I hate gutted copies just like the next guy, but it is nothing new, just move on.

Q. Are the games on sale NEW or USED?
A. All games/accessories on sale are NEW. If a Buy 2 Get 1 Free does occur during the Game Day sale then that will be for USED games only.

Q. Will the USED prices drop because the NEW ones are on sale?
A. Depends, typically when a NEW game is on a temporarily price drop, the USED copy will stay at its current price. So Assassins Creed 2 which is on sale for $29.99 NEW during the sale, may still have a USED price of $54.99. However, there are times when they will drop the USED price as well to reflect the NEW price drop.

Q.
Where is the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Used Games?
A. As far as I recall, GameStop usually holds a B2G1 Free at the beginning and/or end of the Game Days sale. I just got this list from fellow CAGs Driftninja & arcurifisher, and just organized it. Although the other threads have not 100% confirmed it as of 3/25/10, I think it is pretty safe to say there will be a B2G1 sometime during this Game Day sale. Check back for updates.

Q. These games on sale are horrible, any chance of better games being added?
A. Yes, I agree a good portion of the games are horrible, I mean "My Baby First Steps" seriously?. GameStop is known to add / remove games during the Game Day sales, so yes some new titles could be added, but don't expect it to be anything great, but you never know, maybe this year...

Q. Why were there so many threads on this sale?
A. Not sure why since I didn't make them, but don't flame the thread creators because it is just people trying to contribute to the CAG community. Just be polite please, and hopefully we will have a single thread to follow during the sale.[/hiddenlist]
Wrong. The GC is still free money. When anyone asks you how much something cost, common sense dictates your response will be centered around how much you paid out of pocket. If a buy Bayonetta from GS, I don't say it cost me $60 and the store gave me $20 off, I say it cost me $40. Same concept applies to the GC. The hit to his cash/credit was $11, not $35. Is the GC gone? Yes. Was it a hit to his bottomline? No. Another example: B1G1. The two games didn't cost me $120, even though that's their value. They cost me $60 OOP. Again, no different than the GC, which is effectively free money.

You should ask yourself that question, ass. He didn't issue a blanket statement saying he got Bayonetta for $11. He mentioned how much he paid and clarified WHY and HOW. It's no different when all you kids talk about your prices after the sorry ass ECA discounts that aren't even offered anymore. Your tirade is moot and completely pointless, typical for someone who apparently can't read.

And now I'm going to make it simpler for you. Your buddy gives GS the $25 out if his pocket instead of giving you a gift card. How much did the game (I'll make it $25 so everyone can keep up) cost YOU? It cost YOU $0. It cost your friend $25. Now, think and ask yourself how that's any different than your friend taking that same $25, giving it to you if GC form, and you buying that game. Your OOP cost is still $0.

Ready for the shocking part: it isn't different at all!
You dont understand basic economics. It doesnt matter if the GC was "free". In fact it wasnt free. But I wont bore you or anyone else with any more of this because I cant say it eloquently enough anyway for you to understand. You will beleive what you want to beleive and that is fine by me.

EDIT: I just reread that BOLD section. You contradicted yourself. Read what you wrote again. You said he spent only $11 in cash/credit. But he spent the $25 GC! That was credit.

You really aren't very bright are you? I specifically say that people SHOULDN'T quote prices after their discounts and amazon gift cards. "all us kids" don't do it. In fact, the people in this thread arguing with you are saying that they shouldn't do it.

You must not have any friends:

Friend: "How much you pay for that foot long?"
You: "I got it for free at Subway!"
Friend: leaves and comes back 1/2 hour later: Hey jackass, it was $5
You: "What? I used a $5 gift card. I was just telling you how much I spent OOP. It's your fault you don't know how I quote prices even though it's completely opposite to common sense."
Ex-Friend: leaves

If the person said he paid 11,99 or whatever without any explanation you might have a point (I hate when people do that too) but he explicitly said he used a GC. Also, bitching about this over multiple pages is idiotic.
If the person said he paid 11,99 or whatever without any explanation you might have a point (I hate when people do that too) but he explicitly said he used a GC. Also, bitching about this over multiple pages is idiotic.
Yes, it is. The one guy explained himself right away. No harm no foul. It's just annoying that's all.

But I can't believe some guy actually thinks a GC should be deducted when quoting prices because it's not actual cash out of pocket. Does that make sense to you?

Hahaha, this argument is futile. Once one of you "wins." Your life will be just the same. (wouldn't it be cool if we collected the other persons dogtag if we beat them in an argument?)

Just picked up MGS4 (sealed, black label version). Would have picked up Prototype too, but all that was left was the gutted copy. And from what I've noticed, not all Gamestops are gutting all copies. The one I went to only had one gutted copy for each title and had the sealed copies behind the counter. No clue why some Gamestops are gutting ALL copies.

Well, in a way, I can understand that in his mind it's not 'cash' spent.

In a similar way to how a lot of people will splurge and spend more on something if they have a giftcard, than if they didn't.

For example, I got a twenty dollar target giftcard from my folks for my birthday this year. Yeah, that was it. Anyways, I really wanted Zombieland on blu ray. Target wanted about $5 more than other retailers at the time it came out, but I went ahead and got it there because the giftcard still made it feel like less out of my pocket. I suppose it has something to do with how it feels less like currency if you can only spend it in one place\chain. Obviously, it bears the same monetary value with said retailer or chain as cash would, but it's easy to devalue that when you can't use it anywhere else.

Honestly, I think a lot of retailers probably use this to their advantage. If they can get Bob to buy Joe a giftcard for something, then Bob has just plopped down X dollars, and Joe is that much more likely to plop down Y dollars on top of it, feeling less guilty about spending.

This is just my overanalytical take. I'm not saying someone is right to state "It only costs 40, because I used a giftcard", but I can see how it would feel that way for a lot of consumers.
Looks up: this isn't the motherfucking bragging thread.

When you say things like I got Bayonetta for $10.99, people are expecting a deal, or at the very least a YMMV. Not how some game was less cause you had a gift card.
This is what it boils down to for me. And I've complained about it before.

It's particularly bad in the Best Buy threads. I hate it when we're trying to determine if a new price is legit, and people are sending in conflicting reports. Then the braggers start quoting even lower prices.....and farther down in their post they mention Reward Zone credit was used.

They're defense is usually, "If you do the math, I'm helping! Add it back in, and you have the price!" LAAAAME. I'd like to see us all just quote the prices. Period. If you want to brag about how you used $10 in RZ credit, a $20 GC, and a fiver you found in your couch, do it later on in your comment! Because nobody really gives a flying eff how much YOU paid out of pocket.

where are these idiots breeding?

GC is not free money. it took money/time to get it.

GC is still money, just that you can only spend it at GS.

Game = $40
You have GC for $20
You paid $20, but GS didn't sell it to you for $20, it was $40.

What's the price of the game? $20 is the wrong answer, it's $40 (from the perspective of GS).

How much did you pay? $40 is the wrong answer ( since you had a $20 GC).

You're leaving info out like OOP expenses when you do that.

No, you're not over analyzing it, I've seen this on CAG a bunch.

Deal X is posted.

"Hmmm, it's $30, but I got $20 in X Store credit so I'll jump on it anyway since it's only $10 out of pocket"

When I got my FFXIII credit I was about to use it on any old game at MSRP, but then I thought what you just basically posted and waited for a game at a price I wanted before GC added. (Spirit tracks $9.99 with GC, when 20 was jumping point before I added the GC)

Oh absolutely. I think we all get the psychology of it. This is why you get credit at GS instead of cash. (20% penalty for taking cash, right?) And in people's minds, credit isn't really worth as much as cash and they discount it. But you wouldn't quote things at the lower price just because you used a gift card, would you?

I think it's annoying because a lot of us skim for the lowest prices (we're CAGs after all) and your eyes tend to focus on a low price + title. Then it's a (minor) bummer when you realize the guy was quoting prices after a gift card, which doesn't help anyone.
Wow this is nuts where are the people who are supposed to be cracking down on all this off topic posting ?

WTF? $1.40 for a slice of pizza? Where?

You must live in new york or something. A friend of mine who does tells me tales of $1.40 for a pizza and drink. No such thing here in Texas that I know of.
hahah ! Sorry for going off topic, but this cracked me up. I thought the exact same thing when I read the $1.40 pizza comment. I live in CA and there is no way I am getting that cheap of a pizza slice here! I visited NY last year, and I was hitting up the dollar pizza slice store at least every other day for the week I was there.

As for on topic, it is really good news to see they dropped the used prices for the Game Days sale items now. I'll have to consider if it is worth the hassle of returning a previous purchase now.

If it's a guaranteed case and manual title then get wither both and return the sealed if the used is crap or multiple used and keep the best parts and return the rest

If you have the cash to spare as well. Shipping will be free so all it costs is time but I can't imagine you dont pass a GS in your daily life. I pass 7 on my way to work lol

This whole gift card argument is stupid. Sure, if you got a gift card for free, you can basically get a game cheaper than if you hadn't gotten it. But you can't deduct that from the cost of the game. You can say you only spent $10 in cash/credit after the gift card, but that won't change the fact that it's credit that could have been spent on something else, and therefore, value that leaves your pocket.

Think of it this way- if someone had given you money instead of a gift card that you would have used on a game anyway, would you come to a thread to say "I got ______ $40 game for $10 because I had $30 in birthday money"? I don't think so.

That's crazy, pizza in NY is about $2 everywhere I go. You'd have to do some searching to find a slice under $2. There are places that offer 2 slices and a soda for $4. That's where the deal is unless the pizza sucks.
Should I get Persona 4 used or new?
Depends if you have the EDGE and you care about new vs used, manuals and case.
You must not have any friends:

Friend: leaves and comes back 1/2 hour later: Hey jackass, it was $5
You: "What? I used a $5 gift card. I was just telling you how much I spent OOP. It's your fault you don't know how I quote prices even though it's completely opposite to common sense."
Ex-Friend: leaves
Anyone who stops being your friend because you sent them on a wild goose chase to Subway must be a real cheap ass.

You can get 1/6 of a pizza at Sam's Club for $1.77, or $2.44 with a large drink. I eat there quite a lot. :3

btw, i love how this has devolved into a pizza discussion. the wannabe mods heads must be exploding. And really, you can't compare Sam's Club pizza to some genuine NYC pizza. That's just not right.

pizza for $2 at new york?

really?

i went to queens once and i was going to board the train but then i decided to grab an almighty and notorious new york slice of pizza.

the slice cost me around 4 or 5 bucks.
wth?

was it good? no, i was too concerned at the fact that i bought a damn 4 dollar slice of pizza.

I'm not sure if you've heard of little ceasar's but they offer a whole pizza (pretty good) for $5 plus tax (about $5.42)

Sam's Club and Costco usually have great deals on food.

a quite big hot dog and unlimited refill on the soda for 1.75 at my costco.

:D

...
i just ate like three sandwhiches and my lunch

why the hell do i keep talkin bout food.
should work out at night to kill that extra food i ate.

I was staying near Astor off the 6, and there was a place the size of a closet that had $1 slices around the corner. I just figured that was the norm for NY. I did try a couple different Ray's pizzas as well while I was there too. I actually had people on here direct me to the "right" one after eating at a not so hot one :applause:.

Price is the same at the little ceasar's near me, but the pizza is quite average...not that I expect great for $5.

i just passed by a place in NYC that was selling them for 99 cents

You my friend got jipped and they probably laughed at you for actually paying full price

There are definitely some places in NY, many actually, that sell slices for 99 c but they really aren't that good. There are so many great/legendary slices in NY it really is worth ponying up a bit more for IMO. If you haven't been to Artichoke on 14th st. a couple blocks east of Union Square you really must check it out. Unbelievable slices going down there.

I used to eat papa john's all the time but I've recently changed after a incident with them. Domino's has improved from what they used to be. I still prefer Pizza Hut but there are no Pizza hut's in the bronx. The one near me (probably the last in the bronx as well) closed like 3 year's back.

I used to work in tribeca and I've never been into (I've been near a couple) a Ray's pizza's. I saw them on some tv show where they were claiming the they were the original and that they had the best pizza in NY. I'm gonna go next week to see what the fuzz is about. The pizza that I prefer is from a pizzeria called Andy's. The slice's are big, good cheese. You'd have to have a big stomach or be really hunger to finish two slices.

First, can we all agree that GCs (non-Visa Giftcards) are the same as Store credits?
Second, can we all agree that GCs and Store credits are almost like cash, but you can only use it at THAT store?

Facts:
I have over $200 in store credit at GS.
The store credit was from free games from Bestbuy (FTF, Nerf, and X-blade).
So it cost me zero dollars.

Lets say that I purchase CoD WaW, Bayonetta, Bioshock 2, and God of War 3.

TO BRAG
The wrong way to post is to write "I got CoD WaW, Bayonetta, Bioshock 2 and GoW 3 for free from GS." This isn't useful and it's misleading.

The correct way to post is to write "I got PS3 CoD WaW (new) $20, Bayonetta (new) $40, Bioshock 2 (used) $50, and GoW 3 (used) $50......all free using the FTF/Nerf/Xblade store credit." This isn't useful either, but it is not misleading.

TO INFORM OTHERS ABOUT PRICE DROPS

PS3 Used Bioshock 2 is $50 online @ GS
PS3 Used GoW 3 is $50 online @ GS
This might be useful to others.

My 2 cents

I'd rather shoot the shit about NY pizza than have post after post dissecting a totally non-essential semantic argument. But I guess I'll take it to the pizza thread (do we have one?)

You should've checked your local Kmarts for Last Remnant, since it's only $4.97 there.:D The one Kmart by me has around 7-9 copies of Last Remnant in stock.

I'm debating if I wanna return my 'newsed' copy of Sacred 2 I picked up the other day from the Gamedays sale and order a used copy of it online with CAG16, EDGE and SAVER. I already managed to gently peel the clear sticker off my copy I picked up to check the disc and the only things I see are a few smudges and a partial fingerprint on the disc.
