Gamestop rewards program?

While I was picking up a new copy of MLB 10 yesterday for a friend, and the cashier asked for my Edge card. She told me that they're adding a new rewards program for new game purchases. As the cashier told me, you buy an certain amount of games or spend a certain amount of money and they'll send you a gift card. Basically like how Best Buy rewards work.

So, anyone else heard of this? I don't see anything about it on their site, so I'm thinking it might be a YMMV situation?

IIRC, there was a thread posted some time last year about GS doing research on some form of rewards program. They might be getting ready to test market it.

I heard the same thing yesterday but I wasn't totally paying attention. The employee was talking to someone else.
