Also, the CAG Trade-In Value Tracker is now live and accessible from the main navigation.
Instructions on finding games in the database and inputting the values from different sections can be found in my blog post here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=14143. I would put the entire post in the thread but this is already kind of a large post.

PLEASE POST BASE VALUES & SYSTEM IT IS FOR.

FAQ
These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Here are the previous GS TIV Threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value:
$0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Why didn't the percent bonus go for my accessory for a system that was included?
Unless stated otherwise, and they are rarely included, the bonuses never apply to accessories. Except the EDGE card of course.

I traded in a bunch of games for the "Trade X, get $X bonus" promo and it gave me the percentage bonus instead?
I can't give concretes on why this happens. GameStop computers are normally pretty good at giving you the better promo. In the case of a percentage bonus being run at the same time as a "Trade X, get $X" promo, things can get messy. The system appears to only give one promo on games per transaction so if you had a few games that you want to go to the percentage bonus and a stack for the "Trade X, Get $X" it will regularly apply the percentage to all of the games. Your best bet is to do all "Trade X, Get $X" games in one transaction on their own. The GameStop clerk may say that the system will figure it all out, tell them you want a separate transaction anyway. As always, check your receipt before you leave the store.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
Playstation 2: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller (Must be a DualShock2)
GameCube: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above. They will not, however, take RROD 360 consoles. There may be stores that still do it, but official policy is to not take them in.

How much does an EDGE card subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an EDGE card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game and an extra 10% off the purchase of used games.

Does the EDGE Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your EDGE card.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

What states charge sales tax on purchases paid in full with credit and which ones don't?
Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia
Does Not Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming
No Information Yet: Connecticut, Idaho, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

First post contains promo information and the FAQ. Second post has the 360/Wii/PS3 values. Third post has the PS2/GC values. Fourth post has DS/PSP/GBA values.

Sucks about SMG2 dropping. I want to get rid of my copy, so I guess it's going to CL. I don't think I really have anything to take advantage of this promo with. I mean, I have plenty of games, but not that I am done with.
From what I've heard, the intention is for PowerUp to replace Edge.
Same here. I'm not sure how many areas they are currently testing in though.

Base trade-in values from today:

Pokemon: HeartGold (DS) - $17
Dead or Alive 4 (360) - $3.75
Saints Row (360) - $3.75
Brutal Legend (360) - $6
Darksiders (360) - $12

Hmmm... can I come up with three lower but over $1 value games. I've got one for sure (TMNT Smashup). Might be able to scrounge up two others. Otherwise I'll take the 50%.

EDIT: and I think I've got 'em: TMNT Smashup, Sonic & The Secret Rings and Speed Racer (Wii). Perfect! Well, except I'm not 100% sure I still have a copy of Sonic & The Secret Rings. Not a problem, though, as I could dump my copy of Madworld in place of it. I only paid $5 for it at kmart, and I doubt I'm ever going to get around to playing it. Come to think of it, I probably should swap TMNT with that and then use the 50% deal on TMNT... unless I can find two more cheap games....

So, wait, the PowerUp thing has the same 10% discount on used and 10% bonus on trades, plus all this point stuff and such? When are they going to take that national? Sounds like a good thing to me!
Base tiv from today:

:360: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: $16.00
:360: Splinter Cell Conviction: 18.00
:360: Operation Flash Point: Dragon Rising: 8.00
SCC was $20 based yesterday when i traded, i lost out on 80c.

as suspected, a lot of games drop to compensate for the 50% minus a few. So its basically just like the 30%. Still great for last gen games though!

It's only in a few test markets. I've heard end of summer as a national rollout.

The fall, I think. It's just your EDGE card with a basic rewards program. Everything about the EDGE card is still the same, they're just shiny and silver now.

That said, though, you have to physically print out your B2G1 from the PowerUp and take it in, and I REALLY wish I'd known that before I went out, spent an hour game shopping and then got caught in a thunderstorm on the way out of the mall.

Also, for 360:
Splinter Cell - $18
Brutal Legend - $4 (-1)
Red Alert 3 - $5 (+2)
Incorrect. They are absolutely allowed to accept handhelds without them.

I called a store near my office and verified that they will take the DS trade without a serial number because the stickers are notorious for peeling off. Looks like I just didn't pick the right store the first go-round.
Wow, I've been in a few GS stores recently and had them reject trade-ins because of the lack of a serial number. They definitely used to do this but maybe the policy has changed.
I fondly recall the days lacking automatic promotions where everything and anything could stack if the manager liked you enough.
Ah, I remember those days and the manager who is no longer working there (he moved on to bigger and better things). Not only did he stack promos (which then got amplified by the Edge credit) but he held a Wii and PS3 for me on launch and I didn't have to wait in line to sign up for them. I fear I'm not going to have anything like that for the next go-round of console launches...
Traded in SSF IV(PS3) for $20 base today.
Wow, I think I may trade mine there instead of sending it to Gazelle for the $25 I locked in and thought was high. $20 base means $32 after bonus + Edge! I hope that and NSMB hold through tomorrow at least.

gamestop doesnt take original xbox games anymore right? cuz i have a bunch sitting around and it would be nice to get $10 for 3 if they did that

Went to a GameStop in Daly City, CA today. No 50% deal; the worker had no idea what I was talking about even though I mentioned the e-mail. He said that if that were the case; I would need the weekly coupon. Oh well; maybe Sunday?

Crap, I just went and traded in 6 games yesterday with the 30% bonus, not knowing today they would start the 50%. Crap. Oh well.

PS2
Shadow of the Colossus - 5.50
God of War - 5.75
Tekken 5 - 5.00

Xbox 360
FIFA Soccer - 18.00
Burnout Paradise - 5.00
Left 4 Dead 2 - 11.00

They do not take original xbox games anymore. If the past is any indication the 3 get $10 will only apply to 360/Wii/PS3.

Did you actually try to trade games or did you just ask? Also, if you did do the trade did he hit total? They have to hit total before the promo will activate. You do not need a coupon for the 50%. It's in their computers. The only way their system wouldn't do it is if they didn't get their update last night.
Does the 50% deal apply to all games--no matter the value?
As far as I know. I haven't actually seen the full info on the site yet, but the way it reads is all games.

They stopped taking them a long time ago.

Just called GS,

:360: Battlefield Bad Company 2 - $20 base (asked how much the TIV is, they said ATM $30 which must mean base is $20)

EDIT:

Also

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max for PSP is a base of $3.00

and Crisis Core FFVII for PSP is a base of $3.25

lol I just traded in BC2 yesterday with the 30% bonus and it got close to $31. So it's not that big of a deal, it seems. Still a little salty i missed the deal by a day trading in about $50 of stuff.

Oh, I was just going over the 50% + EDGE versus 3/$10 + EDGE. The exact cutoff is $10. If you have 3 games that are over $1.01 and have a value of $10 or less the trade 3 get $10 is better for you. If you have 3 games that have a value of $10.01 or higher the 50% is better.

nice trade for super street fighter 4

TIV +50% +10% EDGE tOTAL
SSTF4 = 20 10 2 32
Transformers Revenge of the Fallen 9 4.5 0.9 14.40

Total = 46.40

Now i can rebuy SSTF4 IN THE WEBSITE FOR 27.99+TAX and get 10 dollar credit or get the used one for 24.99. At the end is a win win situation.

Can't believe I didn't recongnize that earlier.

A few tips FYI:

Even if it says with the 50% that all games apply, don't get your hopes up on getting that to work with PS2, Gamecube, or any accessories for any system including the current gen.

My trades last week included some PS2 games, and 3 accessories for the 360. None of those got the extra discount, so unless you find out otherwise, only expect the 50% to work with PS3, 360, Wii, and possibly handhelds.

Here's another tip: If you've traded in over the last 7 days, go back to your receipt and look at the base trade value, and multiply those amounts by 50%. After that, total up all the amounts and you should see what you would've got grand total with the 50%, versus the 30% from last week. I only wound up with an additional $10 to $15.

on the trade 3 get extra $10. does the base tiv have to be $1.01 or can that be with the edge card 10% added

The 30% didn't say all games, it said 360/Wii/PS3/PSP/DS games. Unless mentioned, and they rarely are, the accessories never have the bonus besides edge. Just saying.

Dang I would have had $15.93 more.

Damn, I just went in today hoping to catch the tail end of the 30% extra credit and walked it way more than 30%. Makes sense now. It's weird, though, there were no signs up about the 50% deal and the clerk didn't mention it.

Some I just came to a conclusion on. We are all assuming that the 50% and the trade 3 get $10 will run concurrently. It very well may. However, this 50% bonus promo ends on the 13th, a Sunday. So I can see 3 scenarios happening

1. Monday rolls around and we have the 50% bonus until 6/13, trade 3 get $10 until 6/27, $25 hardware bonus until 6/27.
2. Monday rolls around and we have the 50% bonus until 6/13, $25 hardware bonus until 6/27. Trade 3 get $10 we don't see get activated until 6/14 and goes until 6/27.
3. Monday rolls around and we have the 50% bonus until 6/13, $25 hardware bonus until 7/4. Trade 3 get $10 we don't see get activated until 6/14 and goes until 7/4.

The last one I see as less likely, but is possible.
