Instructions on finding games in the database and inputting the values from different sections can be found in my blog post here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=14143. I would put the entire post in the thread but this is already kind of a large post.

PLEASE POST BASE VALUES & SYSTEM IT IS FOR.

FAQ
These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Here are the previous GS TIV Threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value:
$0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Why didn't the percent bonus go for my accessory for a system that was included?
Unless stated otherwise, and they are rarely included, the bonuses never apply to accessories. Except the EDGE card of course.

I traded in a bunch of games for the "Trade X, get $X bonus" promo and it gave me the percentage bonus instead?
I can't give concretes on why this happens. GameStop computers are normally pretty good at giving you the better promo. In the case of a percentage bonus being run at the same time as a "Trade X, get $X" promo, things can get messy. The system appears to only give one promo on games per transaction so if you had a few games that you want to go to the percentage bonus and a stack for the "Trade X, Get $X" it will regularly apply the percentage to all of the games. Your best bet is to do all "Trade X, Get $X" games in one transaction on their own. The GameStop clerk may say that the system will figure it all out, tell them you want a separate transaction anyway. As always, check your receipt before you leave the store.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
Playstation 2: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller (Must be a DualShock2)
GameCube: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above. They will not, however, take RROD 360 consoles. There may be stores that still do it, but official policy is to not take them in.

How much does an EDGE card subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an EDGE card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game and an extra 10% off the purchase of used games.

Does the EDGE Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your EDGE card.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

What states charge sales tax on purchases paid in full with credit and which ones don't?
Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia
Does Not Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming
No Information Yet: Connecticut, Idaho, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

First post contains promo information and the FAQ. Second post has the 360/Wii/PS3 values. Third post has the PS2/GC values. Fourth post has DS/PSP/GBA values.

i just called to see how much it would be to trade green day rock band on the day of release, because i bought the regular copy, and want to upgrade to a plus edition. 20 dollars... 30 with the 50%... i wont even give them the pleasure at looking at a copy before street date

if i wanted to trade that plus beatles rock band and guitar hero smash hits... thats 54 if combined plus the 10 for the 3 games equaling 64. i dont think its worth it. im gonna try to go to a mom and pop store and see how much theyll trade for all of them

Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 - $6.50
Pokemon Sapphire - $5.50

I also brought my old 360 with a bunch of accessories, but I opened it so they couldn't take it :( It is a piece of shit though so I sold them the cords for $15
My other accessory values:
Cooling fan - $1
Messenger Pad - $6.00
Vision Camera - $4.50
Play & Charge Kit (that doesn't charge) - $5.75

I got a lot of low TIVs, but it's better than the games sitting untouched on my shelf.
You might think this is all, BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!

I had a bunch of the bad wired headsets that seem to come packaged with everything I buy, and I got $5 each for them. So now I have less clutter, $300 Gamestop credit, and a horribly fixed launch 360 that sounds like a jet engine and doesn't have a power cord or A/V cables.

What systems work for that $25 list? Some of those games have Wii versions, just wondering if they're included too.

so do you know if the 50% and 10 dollars is combined? thats making my TIV 50 bucks if GD:RB is 20, TB:RB is 6 and smash hits is 8, im assuming its bumped down to 2 so im assuming 46 bucks with the 50% 56 with the extra 10

I would say it looks like $25 guaranteed % 50% will probably stack since New Super Mario Bros Wii is on the $25 guaranteed list.

You think they will give $40.00 for games like Forza 3? I am hoping so, but these promos seem like they could go either way.

If I bought 2 copies of new super Mario bros from gamestop used for 29.99 and traded them into gamestop would I get in trouble? I was gnna send it to gazelle but gamestop will give me more

It depends, do you consider anal rape as "getting in trouble"? It's all YMMV of course.

GS's policy is to accept only one copy of each game for each system, but you could get lucky with a lenient employee. Or just go to 2 different stores.
You think they will give $40.00 for games like Forza 3? I am hoping so, but these promos seem like they could go either way.
I highly doubt it. I bet it will be $25 and possibly an edge bonus. I can't imagine Gamestop giving $40 for every single one of those games.

Sorry guys. Just wanted to edit the list to include platforms. I didn't label the exclusives because I think we're knowledgeable enough to know the exclusives. You know... I'm not going to label the Mario games because we all know that is a Nintendo property. ;)

Plan accordingly guys. And remember--valid 6/7-6/27. Cannot combine with any other offer. Enjoy!
I would say it looks like $25 guaranteed % 50% will probably stack since New Super Mario Bros Wii is on the $25 guaranteed list.
I think this will definitely depend upon how they go about pushing titles up to $25 when it starts, that aren't currently at a value of $25. If they do the simple way of just changing their values in the company wide database during the promo then yeah they will stack. If they do a slightly goofier way of making it where the $25 doesn't come up until they hit total, like the trade 2 select games and get $40 toward new game promos, then they wont stack. Just kind of a waiting game at this point.
You think they will give $40.00 for games like Forza 3? I am hoping so, but these promos seem like they could go either way.
i got $40 for NSMB today. 25+12.50(50%)+ 2.50 edge
I don't think they would do that just for the sake that it would basically cancel out the 50% promo.

Example: Battlefield Bad Company 2 = $20. If you go by the 50% promo, you would get $30 for it. However since it is on the list of $25 guaranteed, that game is not eligible for a promo that is running at the same time.
The 2 promos will either stack or you will get the better of the two. Using your example:

If the promos stack, BBC2 = $37.50 ($40 w/ Edge)
If the promos don't stack, BBC2 = $30 ($32 w/ Edge)

They will not give you the lesser of the two promotions.

traded 30 minutes ago on 6/5

DS:

Wii:
Mario Power Tennis: 13.00

PS2:
NBA Live 2003: 0.55
Arc the Lad Twilight of Spirit: 0.89
Xenosaga Episode I: 1.50

PS3:
Lego Star Wars Complete Saga: 9.00 (traded toward SMG2)

360:
Mass Effect: 5.00 (traded toward SMG2)

Another successful trip to G$, got $125.21 credit plus $41.50 for the trade in for SMG2.

well just because I was curious - did some analysis on that $25 guaranteed TIV thing. Based on CAG's latest TIV's these are the titles that see an increase in base TIV, with the base value shown.

Alan Wake - 22
Aliens v Predator - 9
Alpha Protocol - 22
Army of Two 40th Day - 16
Battlefield Bad Company 2 - 20
CoD MW2 - 16
Demon's Souls - 10
Dirt 2 - 9.50
DJ Hero w/turntable - 17
Eternal Sonata ps3 - 9.75
Fallout GOTY - 18
Fifa Soccer 10 - 24
FF XIII - 17.25
Forza 3 - 12
Heavy Rain - 22
Just Cause 2 - 20
Katamari Forever - 15
MLB 2k10 - 17.25
Mario Kart Wii (game only) - 13.25
Mario Party 8 - 14.75
Mario Super Sluggers - 14.50
Metroid Prime Trilogy - 18.75
MLB 10 The Show - 23
Modnation Racers - 22
MX v ATV Reflex - 11
Pokemon Battle Revolution - 8.25
Red Steel 2 (game only) - 14.50
RE5 Gold Edition - 24
Resonance of Fate 17.25
Risen - 15
Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing - 16
Splinter Cell: Conviction - 18
Star Ocean: Last Hope International ps3 16.25
SWFU Sith Edition 14.25
SMG 12.50
SMG2 22
Super Smash Bros Brawl 14.75
Tales of Vesperia 17
Tatsunoko v Capcom 15
Tiger Woods PGA 10 (game only) Wii 6
UFC 2010 22
Uncharted 2 15.75
WWE SvR 2010 12
So, based on the idea that using 1.5 * x = 27.50 is the formula to solve for which title see a bigger increase from the 50% bonus vs the $25 total value, using 27.50 instead of 25 because edge added to both cases.

This means any games with a base value greater than 18.33 should use the 50% bonus. This leaves us with the following list of games that are worth using the $25 deal for, provided our TIV database is accurate.

Aliens v Predator - 9
Army of Two 40th Day - 16
CoD MW2 - 16
Demon's Souls - 10
Dirt 2 - 9.50
DJ Hero w/turntable - 17
Eternal Sonata ps3 - 9.75
Fallout GOTY - 18
FF XIII - 17.25
Forza 3 - 12
Katamari Forever - 15
MLB 2k10 - 17.25
Mario Kart Wii (game only) - 13.25
Mario Party 8 - 14.75
Mario Super Sluggers - 14.50
MX v ATV Reflex - 11
Pokemon Battle Revolution - 8.25
Red Steel 2 (game only) - 14.50
Resonance of Fate 17.25
Risen - 15
Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing - 16
Splinter Cell: Conviction - 18
Star Ocean: Last Hope International ps3 16.25
SWFU Sith Edition 14.25
SMG 12.50
Super Smash Bros Brawl 14.75
Tales of Vesperia 17
Tatsunoko v Capcom 15
Tiger Woods PGA 10 (game only) Wii 6
Uncharted 2 15.75
WWE SvR 2010 12

The biggest changers for this deal and most likely flips, IMO are:

Tiger Woods PGA 10 (game only) Wii 6
Pokemon Battle Revolution - 8.25
Aliens v Predator - 9
Dirt 2 - 9.50
Eternal Sonata ps3 - 9.75
Demon's Souls - 10

All of these will jump up to 27.50 after edge, and some of them have already been available for $20 or less. I'd reccomend finding as many cheap Pokemon Battle Revolutions and Dirt 2's as possible.

Now I haven't seen a physical copy of the flyer but I wonder if they have any wording on it that says applicable titles subject to change. Similar to their trade 2 get $40 towards new game promos. Kinda curious.

Trades from 6/5:

- NSMB Wii: $25
- SSF IV PS3: $20

$72 after bonus plus Edge for stuff I got for $63 at Amazon + two $10 gaming credits! I took the opportunity to renew my Edge card even though it is good through June because the cool employee was there. When I get deals like this it makes it much easier. Then the other guy offered a different customer who was talking about Gamecrazy a deal were if you give them your GC MVP card you get the Edge card for free! Considering where GC is headed that is a great deal. I didn't have my MVP card with me though, plus the bastards at my GC never updated the sticker anyway (though it was renewed through this summer in the computer).

Also, the first guy told me that the only people he sees with bigger Edge card balances than me are the people who work at Gamecrazy corporate (which is right down the street) who have been coming in over the last few weeks with all sorts of new releases and trading them in. These are most likely the game company freebie samples they get. I used to be able to buy these at the Gamecrazy. I'd go in and they'd have huge stacks of new release games still sealed that they were selling for used prices because the corporate types traded them in there. All of that sounds rather shady, but it makes little difference now so I might as well mention it ;).

This type of promotion tends to bring in other people than the thread regulars, which I love you guys. Make my job easier and jump on the trolls fairly quickly. Anyway, it's time once again:

No Information Yet: Connecticut, Idaho, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia

Still looking for information on those states above on whether they charge tax on full credit purchases or not.
I try to ignore the trolls most of time but the above is just one of the most asinine statements I've ever read on CAG.
So since you sell stuff on ebay, you're a better human being?
What about the 9% ebay takes and then the other percentage for using Paypal? Gas? Time? You're probably back down to what GS would have given you for credit.
I'd rather spend my time with family/gaming/watching movies etc as opposed to standing in line at the PO and then having to potentially deal with some sort of issue after the deal is supposedly "done".
Come on man, why even come in here and make these comments? What do you get out of it? Don't you have some squirrels to mutilate/dissect?
Your an idiot that lacks basic math skills. Let go with a Most recent sale.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Call-Duty-Moder...Games_Games&hash=item4aa1b6b953#ht_500wt_1154

$36.00 + $3.00 shipping for a total of $39.00

So subtract your close to 3% for pay pal $1.17
subtract your ebay 9% from original sale $3.51
Let say your shipping charges are $4.00

So all fees would be about close to $9.00 which would leave you exactly like I said at around $30.

You print your label at home, stick it on your package and drop it off at the post office without waiting in line. Now explain to me how the gamestop deal is better? I mean please do........

http://cgi.ebay.com/Call-Duty-Moder...Games_Games&hash=item4aa1b6b953#ht_500wt_1154

If you're one of the good guys, we are fucked.
Again you're not figuring in time, gas etc. So I call shenanigans on your math, Jethro.
I realize your time isn't valuable but some of us have other things to do.
You still didn't explain how you're a better human being for using ebay over gamestop. Still waiting on that answer Mr. Knotts.
Now I haven't seen a physical copy of the flyer but I wonder if they have any wording on it that says applicable titles subject to change. Similar to their trade 2 get $40 towards new game promos. Kinda curious.
Ask and you shall receive.

This is the entire passage at the bottom of the flyer:
Offer and qualifying titles for trade subject to change without notice. Offer not good on cash trades. Trades must be in full working condition to receive full value. Cannot be combined with any other offer. Trade ins subject to manager approval. See store associate for details. No dealers. Offer valid in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Guam only. Offer valid 6/7/10-6/27/10.

with that wording it looks like it will be bumped to $25 + edge making it $27.50. no extra 50% on top of it. at least thats the interpretation i get.

I had a feeling there was going to be the "qualifying titles for trade subject to change without notice" there somewhere. I agree it doesn't sound like it will stack with the 50% but we wont really know until it starts. All depends upon how they do it in their computers.

Yeah it doesn't sound like it will stack. But we won't know for sure until Monday comes around. We'll see the feedback in this thread.

Lame. I was hoping to get back at least the purchase price.

But he's sure got some basic grammar skills.

we should just call some stores in those states.

I returned a game I bought in wisconsin with credit in michigan today and the cashier could not figure out how to have the system give me my sales tax in refund. He was shocked that other states don't charge sales tax on credit purchases.

Makes sense to me. There's no sale involved. I wonder if gamestops in those states can't claim purchases made with store credit as profit.

It was one of those titles where you trade in 2 games and get 40 towards UFC, RDR, or SMG2.

Site says 50% on ANY games traded, no mention of $10 credit or $25 game list....guess i gotta call my local store for details

It also says doesn't combine with any other offers.

Here is a question for someone that might have knowledge about this:
I would like to purchase 3 used copies of a certain game. Will this raise a flag in their system on my account? In other words, am I putting myself in jeopardy by engaging in this particular action?

Well you see, when you sell the games on ebay you don't have to wait for an auction, you don't have to deal with shitty buyers, and you can trade for a new game without waiting for it in the mail! Wait... I might have this wrong. I hope tears2040 can come set me straight

Those wont show up online until they are live. Even then it wont be online until around 2PM on Monday. A lot of times we CAGs (not CAGers, all of you. I'm not a Cheap Ass Gamerer.) know more about the promotions than the employees.

I'm pretty sure it's not the buying multiples that'll get you. It's the buying and retrading in of multiples that'll get you. If you buy a lot of multiples online you can get tagged as well. A lot easier to tag stuff like that through a website.

actually man you're wrong, ebay takes more than that if you do a buy it now, and since there's no way to guarantee a profitable sale with an auction, buy it now is how i usually go...

so if you sell a 40 dollar game, it usually is 6 or 7 bucks to ebay, a few to paypal, a few to ship, not to mention you NEED delivery confirmation since you dont know the person, and they usually try to rip you off and say something like "i no git tha packedge" (since the people on ebay usually elicit a 3rd grade education..)

so all that and on top of that, they have to be satisfied with the product/quality!!!!!

you tell me what is better... go back to GameFAQs or whatever board you found out about CAG on... this is the big boy board and we happen to enjoy taking GS and bending them over from time to time..

I have been on this site longer than you, anyone who sells on ebay knows that with an auction you receive less penalties and fees. I can keep going on and on with recent auction sales that are in the $35-$40 arena which no matter anyway you put it would be more money than gamestop.

The point of a cheapassgamer is to buy for less, sell for more. Seems like people here do not grasp what I am explaining.

I'm done here, stupid people will never learn.......
