I've received a couple pm's from people wanting to contribute prices but don't want to get harassed about selling to someone or getting more at place x. If this is the case for anyone, you can pm me any values and I'll update them in the list and database.

Also, the CAG Trade-In Value Tracker is now live and accessible from the main navigation.
Instructions on finding games in the database and inputting the values from different sections can be found in my blog post here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=14143. I would put the entire post in the thread but this is already kind of a large post.

PLEASE POST BASE VALUES & SYSTEM IT IS FOR.

FAQ
These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Here are the previous GS TIV Threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value:
$0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Why didn't the percent bonus go for my accessory for a system that was included?
Unless stated otherwise, and they are rarely included, the bonuses never apply to accessories. Except the EDGE card of course.

I traded in a bunch of games for the "Trade X, get $X bonus" promo and it gave me the percentage bonus instead?
I can't give concretes on why this happens. GameStop computers are normally pretty good at giving you the better promo. In the case of a percentage bonus being run at the same time as a "Trade X, get $X" promo, things can get messy. The system appears to only give one promo on games per transaction so if you had a few games that you want to go to the percentage bonus and a stack for the "Trade X, Get $X" it will regularly apply the percentage to all of the games. Your best bet is to do all "Trade X, Get $X" games in one transaction on their own. The GameStop clerk may say that the system will figure it all out, tell them you want a separate transaction anyway. As always, check your receipt before you leave the store.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
Playstation 2: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller (Must be a DualShock2)
GameCube: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above. They will not, however, take RROD 360 consoles. There may be stores that still do it, but official policy is to not take them in.

How much does an EDGE card subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an EDGE card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game and an extra 10% off the purchase of used games.

Does the EDGE Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your EDGE card.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

What states charge sales tax on purchases paid in full with credit and which ones don't?
Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia
Does Not Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming
No Information Yet: Connecticut, Idaho, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

First post contains promo information and the FAQ. Second post has the 360/Wii/PS3 values. Third post has the PS2/GC values. Fourth post has DS/PSP/GBA values.

Do all gamestops ask for your ID and then scan it?

It has been explained many times and if not explained should perhaps be added to the op.
Gamestops trade-in policies are governed by each cities pawn shop rules.

Only time I have been ID is by the Manager, Asst. Manager, or a newbie, even if they know me. They're just following their store policies. Regular employees just tell me to sign.
so when does the trade three get 10 bucks thing start? i have a cover-artless copy of wanted, alone in the dark and condemned 2 that i had basically accepted would be on my shelf forever. would they give full price for artless games and games in gamestop cases?

Yeah they will. As long as the discs aren't messed up. They charge the same for disc-only games, so it makes sense that they give the same.
Except when they do charge refurb fees for lacking cover art... My local GS has this as a store policy, so I know never to take disc-only stuff (whether it has a case or not - it is the cover art that matters) there.
I have a bunch of older sports games, and other games like the darkness, conan, star wars force unleashed, turok etc. I'm trying to figure out which deals are better for me.

I was told at my gamestop that to get the 50% the game needs to be at least $2+. So seems to me I'm pretty screwed with my sports games.
I don't there there's a limit on the base value to get the 50% bonus. And why would there be? If you are trading a 25 cent game you only get 12 more cents, big deal! It's not like a +$3.33 or +$5 deal where it would be many times the base value.
Do all gamestops ask for your ID and then scan it?
Yeah, as others have stated, it all depends on the Pawn laws in your city/county/state. It will vary. They are probably supposed to check your ID just to make sure you are who you say you are, but at most of the GS stores they know me enough that they don't do that any more. Anything beyond that (scanning ID, fingerprinting, etc) is probably due to the Pawn laws.

Has anyone else got the new "Power Up!" GS rewards card already?

My local stores don't have them yet, and its a pain in the ass to get it to work.

Woah woah woah...Im reading on joystiq that if you get one of those "Power up" cards, you get a "welcome" B2G1 free. This true? So if i go into my local store today and they have one of these cards, and i get one, i can use B2G1 free today?
There are bashers on the Amazon trade-in and Best Buy trade-in threads as well. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. If you don't like it, ignore them! Are you another new member of the Gamestop Defense Force???
There are not really bashers in those threads to the degree we get them here. It is way worse in here and derails the topic and it makes it harder for jp to keep things updated when he has to comb through all the off-topic posts. I know, because I used to do this before him ;).
Now if you people want to cry about websites and their fees then so be it, until YOU smarten up and stop giving Gamestop business because your simple mind does not know how to sell anywhere else then gamestop as a company will always rape you on $.

Don't be scared to learn something else, you have to leave mommas nest one time in your life......

...

Now if I truly see a Gamestop deal that is good then that's great, but out of every 10 games their might be one descent flip and just for that alone I can never see myself giving gamestop business. There are two sides to everything in life, so if people do not like my post then simply ignore them. I'm done within this thread as I have said everything I need too

peace
The thing is, Tears, everyone here knows all this - you aren't coming in here and enlightening all of us with you profound wisdom. And it is pretty simplistic to say there are two sides to everything in life. Sometimes there is only one side, and sometimes there are more than two ;).
It would require too much time to enforce on a mods part. Best thing to do is really just ignore them. Don't feed them and they just wither away.
I think everyone here knows I'm a pretty lenient mod, but I'm getting pretty annoyed with all of this and I know how it makes your job (keeping the prices updated) harder. Hopefully Tears sticks to what he said above about being done with this thread, otherwise some silencing will have to do the trick.
Was that $24 after the 50%/Edge bump?

Sorry to ask, just odd it would rise $9 in a day
that is with the 50% sorry did not specify

Is there another free shipping code? I'm trying SAVER on an order under $25 and not having any success. I know it was working a couple weeks ago.

On topic reply, base TIV from today

Wii
New Super Mario Bros $25
Toy Story Mania $12

PS3
Super Street Fighter IV $20

Paid off PS3 Rock Band Green Day, but probably gonna return that after I get the Pre-order bonus. Really wish Amazon still had the $20 credit for it, but they dropped it to $10.

Updated lists and database. Probably be the last update until tomorrow afternoon. Got an install at a hospital tomorrow so my access to proper internet will be near non-existent. Tuesday and Wednesday I wont be able to do updates until late evening.

In Delaware they will make a physical copy of your driver's license. That's the strictest I've seen.

One of the cities near me (Largo, FL) requires a thumbprint, in addition to copying the data from your driver's license.

yeah it depends on the local governments laws on pawn shops.

in jersey you don't need anything at all to trade in.

Just had a good sears haul/GS trade/Online-Buy experience.

Got a couple of games, all with $10 credits from GS:

3D Dot Game Heroes- $29.99
Glory of Heracles- $10.99 (keeping it sealed or I would have gotten it used also)
Assassins Creed 2 :360: - $22.99
Uncharted 2- $39.99

Used the 25DEAL to bring total from 103.XX to 78.XX. Then I used EDGE because Assassins Creed 2 and Uncharted were used so it dropped it to $73.XX.

Tossed on SAVER for free shipping and after tax total came to: $78.39

I had just gone in earlier in the day and turned 30 Dollars worth of games from the sears clearance into 65 credit, so I just paid $13+ the 30 from sears for a grand total of:

$43.XX for 4 games, which I will also get $40 worth of credit certificates as each game comes with a $10 one. All in all, $3.XX is pretty good for 4 games :)

Douglasville, GA now requires them to photograph you when you trade in games. The Toys R Us stopped taking in trades, and the trades have gone waaay down in the GameStop stores.

In the future please try to post BASE trade-in values. Otherwise it can be confusing/misleading to other users since promos change from period to period, and not everyone has Edge.

Hey everyone, this seems like a stupid question but I'm wanting to trade in my xbox 360 and trade in some games. Now i know the 50%/+$10 deals don't stack with one another but would i be able to get the bonus for my console AND the 50% for the games i trade in on the same transaction? Sorry if it's a dumb question but I haven't traded into gamestop in so long.
Power Up is free. Edge still costs $15 like always.
Okay...here's the deal, cause that's not all the info.

The PowerUp card is free.

The PowerUp PRO card is $15, just like EDGE was. If you have an EDGE card already, when the PowerUp program goes national later this year (I heard August/September timeframe), all Edge members will be given the PRO cards.

There's a breakdown of it on the website...
Yes, just don't have an end date yet. Will probably be a 3 week term like usual. That would put it at 27th. The trade 3 get $10 promo wont start until 6/7 and probably end on 6/27 as well.
Have there been any more details on the trade 3 get $10 promo?

I was able to get both on the same transaction. I had to setup a separate transaction for the wii to get the extra $25. I think the $25 console bonus ends today.

Edit* Confirmed, ends 6/6/10
Anyone know if you can load cash onto an Edge card?

EDIT: And by any chance does anyone (by experience) know how long their Saver shipping takes??
I think they'll probably give you a gift card to load cash onto.

And saver shipping historically has taken 2-3 business days for me. And that is shipping from TX to NYC.

Can't load cash on an edge card in NJ, this is due to not having to pay sales tax on trade in purchases. 2-3 days from the TX location 4-6 from KY. I really don't know why it takes so long from there.
Any word on what cities/store locations are offering the Power Up cards? Any in SoCal?
I know it is being tested in the Columbus, Ohio area and I also think Cleveland as well. It is only in a few select test markets right now. Probably via select districts which means it would not be necessarily a statewide thing, for example all of Ohio does not have it. If any one else can chime in on where they have found it then we can nail down which test markets. I have been told by several friends that live in Columbus ( I dont) that you get an introductry coupon (B2G1) for joining and addiotional coupons later. The B2G1 pretty much pays for the $15 cost- so no brainer on signing up.
