Since the DS Collection thread is one of the most entertaining threads in this forum, and since this is after all the DS/GBA forum, I thought it would be interesting to see some GBA collections. I searched and couldn't find a pre-existing thread for this.

I know personally I play still play my GBA (now a GB Micro) just about as much as I play my DS. I was in college during the bulk of the GBA's lifespan so I missed out on a lot of games which I'm going back and playing now, so for my own part I'm still actively acquiring GBA games. Consequently, my collection is still somewhat modest, but what I'm most into is custom casing (as I'm sure many of you are). I've got pretty much all my old cart games boxed now, and the GBA ones are some of my favorites.

Here's what I have so far:

I've got 60 games in my collection now and I think I'm at a point where I don't see myself purchasing any more GBA games. All the games in my collection are complete with box (and the inside cardboard cartridge placement piece) and instructions, with the exception of F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, which was bought at BBV, so it got the cheap rental plastic case with the original box cut up and placed under the plastic on the rental box. I only have one Player's Choice box: Mario Kart Super Circuit.

I've got to get through my enormous backlog more quickly.

Quick question . . . Where do you go to print up a quality insert for the DS case?? I've been wanting to do this but . . just dont know if i'll like it or not . . .

I think he meant as far as the quality of the paper and the actual print quality of the covers and if he could just go to kinko's and do it or what the best way is to do it.

I personally have a pretty good printer, so if I did do this, I would just use my own printer, and I do have some higher grade paper that would be perfect for this.

Yeah, I'm sure you could get really high quality at Kinko's, but I don't really see the point. All of mine in the OP were printed on my home printer on regular legal paper, and I think they look pretty nice. Yeah, it would be possible to make nicer ones, but at some point also cost prohibitive. The only real expense I incur in custom casing (which I do for my SNES and N64 as well) is ink.

you guys are insane! i'm incredibly jealous, given that i've found gba games to be among the hardest to acquire in pristine condition and complete.

here's my paltry few:

Drill Dozer
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Final Fantasy VI
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

anddd...that's it. i only collected them for about four months in 2007. will probably start ebaying for the metroids and some rpgs.

My GBA collection has very slowly withered away in the last couple years after rivaling that of my DS for a time. After selling a few more items (Fire Emblems and Golden Suns) in the next week or so, I'll be left with:

1 Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls
2 Riviera
3 Tales of Phantasia
4 Final Fantasy V
5 Yggdra Union
6 Final Fantasy VI
As for printing covers, I get mine done at Staples. They're 49 cents each and look great.
I'd love to see some pictures of how yours come out. I've contemplated doing it that way, but I'm just not sure whether they'd be that much higher quality.

Do you still cut them out yourself, or can they print them to exact size?

Also, have they ever given you trouble since the covers are copyrighted material?

Indeed, I'm curious too.

I've been thinking of just cutting them myself but would love to just pay .50 for them.

It's not tough, all you need is a good cutting surface (I use a thick poster board), a straight edge and an exacto knife. My major concern has always been the quality of the image, but I think mine come out pretty nicely.

Cutting the covers by hand isn't really bad unless they're mostly white (stupid FFs). As long as you have some sort of guide, they'll turn out well enough that you won't notice any unevenness once they're in a case.

God yes, those are annoying. What I end up doing is just adding a thin black border on the image and then cutting along that.

I don't know about everywhere, but all of the Kinko's/Fed Ex Office locations have really nice cutting tables. It's just a large platform with a cutting blade on a slider and measurement guidelines. I always bring stuff there to cut. Best part is that it's free!

That's a good idea, maybe I'll use that for my cutting.
