Get rid of Today's Accomplishments?

Just got a Wii for xmas. Is there any way to turn off the "Today's Accomplishments" in the message center? I personally find it annoying to always have that thing telling me I have 1 new message when it is just that dippy feature each and every day. And why can't I delete them either? Normal messages have the garbage can in the upper left, these do not.

I've been wondering how much space they will be taking up on the machine. I don't mind seeing them (it is good to know what the kids are up to when I'm not playing with them.) I would like to be able to set a retention time for them or something. I don't think I'll need years & years of play logs if it means less room for VC games and game saves...

Well, as far as the "accomplishments" go, they are real annoying the first few days, but after you play Wii Sports you start to get less and less of them.
