Get Yer Ass on the (Senate) Dance Floor: Attempts to Reform Filibuster

Similarly, internet research into what websites people who identify as either conservative or liberal go to (political websites, that is - not porn, where we're all bipartisan, I suppose) fall right in line with their views.

That kind of makes me interested to see if there would be a difference. Do liberals and conservatives look at the same type of porn? It would be sad if there were partisan lines drawn when it comes to porn. Another horse race for our shitty media to analyze.

OT, I'm a little worried what could happen when the Democrats lose the Senate and become the minority. I'm pretty sure McConnell will use that opportunity to steamroll legislation through the Senate, unlike Reid.

That's the catch-22 of filibuster reform, though. All political parties have to be prepared to be the minority, and also be prepared to abide by the standards set by the reformed filibuster. It's not just for minority Republicans - that's what I like about it.

I'm sure conservatives like group sex, they seem to enjoy screwing groups of people. ;)

No I totally understand that the rules will obviously apply when Dems are in the minority.

I guess I'm going to be disappointed when that happens due to shit unrelated to the filibuster. The Dems aren't as willing to use whatever tactics necessary to push their agenda.

Republicans will more than willing to let the VP break a tie in passing Bush tax cuts. I doubt Dems will ever be willing to do that when they're in the majority, and I'm sure the Republicans will be more than willing to do it again when they gain the majority. It's disappointing the leaders are so spineless, but I'll concede it really has nothing to do with the filibuster reforms proposed.

And even with passing something in that fashion they will proclaim that the "people have spoken".

Apparently Eric Cantor despises Senate Republicans and their record filibusters:
Earlier this morning, Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor kept insisting to reporters, "The Senate ought not to be a place where legislation goes into a dead end."

"The American people deserve a full hearing," Cantor said, "they deserve to see this legislation go to the Senate for a full vote."
Dude, that sounds so much like an echo from not too long ago... who was it that was calling for congress to allow "up or down" votes on bills, instead of tying them up in paperwork and/or refusing to give them time on the floor?
