I am looking to replace my rundown laptop.
I have about $500 to spend and would like to not replace it in three or four years.
I would prefer a pc, since I have used one my whole life and don't want to spend two to three months learning the inner-workings of a mac.
I am not entirely sure of the difference between Intel and AMD processors, but I probably need a something around Intel's i3. I would also prefer if the computer had a low amount of RAM, so it brings the price down. I have already checked out Newegg, and it sells 8GB (2 x 4GB) for about $50. So, I would like to just update it myself rather than pay the extra $100 or so for it to come with it.
One fairly important thing though is the computer needs to feel solid. I have looked at some Lenovos that fit what I was looking for, but they felt so cheap and if they fell they would crack and break. I know computers are not supposed to fall, but let's be honest, it is going to happen. I would prefer not every little accident causing me to have to get a new computer, or a new part for it.
I am not beyond looking pre-owned or refurbished, as that is where many good deals are had. I just do not want to buy a five year-old model.
Any advice on parts, build, brand, and especially (upcoming or current) deals would be greatly appreciated.
I do not need to get a new one right away; I believe I can wait till Black Friday or so. Any advice or knowledge on the time between then and now for the best deals would be greatly appreciated as well.
Thanks in advance.
