Gift card question

Has anyone on CAG ever gotten a gift card from craigslist?? I see a lot of them lately and was wondering what your process was on handling purchases, or any funny experiences with them. Also, what would you offer someone for a gift card they were selling?? I'm thinking like 20% less than what the gift card is worth.

If you really want it, verify it at the store, then use it immediately.

This. I would use it immediately in order to prevent them from using it online. Even if you don't want an item, just use it and then return that item at a later point.

See if it's a Gift Card, or a Store Credit... lots of unpleasnt folks shoplift, return for credit, then sell off the credit for cash (assuming the store won't let them buy a Visa gift card with credit.)

Absolute worst case scenario, you get dinged as an accomplice. Most likely scenario, you have a guilty conscience (if you care about that sort of thing.)

Otherwise- yes, make sure you use it immedately.
