[quote name='opportunity777'] What I don't know is if people will ever realize this or not, or will consumers continue to overpay for readily available games? I'm leaning towards the second one only because the average consumer overvalues their own knowledge (people tend to overvalue themselves all the time). I really don't like their business practices either, so that contributes to me not liking the whole situation of these reprints.

Nobody is overpaying for these games in the first place... nobody is buying them. Take a look at how many Gamestop's / EB's are loaded with piles of Gitaroo Man, Persona 2, Rhapsody, and probably now Rez.
The market of "rare" games will soon suffer a collapse anyways, as more and more companies are re-releasing their old games en masse, either in collections or on different systems, and if the Wii's virtual console really takes off, I'd much rather pay $5 for a game then $100 on Ebay (hypothetical example).
More companies just need to get smart to the fact that "Hey, people are paying $100 - $150 on Ebay for this game in our catalog, let's re-release it for $30 and people will buy it in droves". If only Sega would bring out their Dragon Force port to the PS2
The true collector's pieces won't be games like Suikoden 2, it will be games where the company is now defunct (hence no more re-releases from them, like Working Designs), or games where the license is lost (MvC 2, for instance) making a reprint or a re-release nigh impossible, or games that are limited in essence (MGS 3 LE).
