GOG Deals Thread

Kinda wish I'd grabbed Flatout 2 the first time around. It when fast enough that while I was thinking about it, time ran out. Not sure it's worth camping out for the rest of the sale just to get another shot at it though.

Great prices on Interstate '76 and Carmageddon 2 if you don't own them (great games... there hasn't been a proper successor to I'76 on PC).

Good price on Wasteland 1, but it's on Steam (no DRM) and the Interplay guys are keeping that updated.

Only bought Betrayal at Krondor and Capitalism 2.  Not sure if i'll be able to talk myself out of the Sierra Quests again during the second round.

Looks like the Entomorph price is fixed.

Well, my GOG wishlist has more or less 100 games on it, and I already missed about 10 games that were on there earlier today...   It looks like my staying up all last night (due to the newborn) actually HINDERED my ability to pick up anything during the Insomnia sale, as opposed to help me strike a deal; catching up on sleep and all that jazz.

I'm holding out for a good Steam sale on Carmageddon: Reincarnation.

BTW, was Interstate '82 really that bad?

^_^ I have Carmageddon Reincarnation (Kickstarter) it's coming along nicely, still properly Early Access atm. It very much feels like Carmageddon 1/2 (awesome).

I'82 wasn't that bad but iirc I didn't like the simplification ( I played I76 way more back in the day.) Yes, of course I re-bought I'82 on GOG. I was more lamenting that there hasn't been an I'76-style game on PC in 15 years. (I understand Twisted Metal is a simplified/dumbled-down take.)

TIme to post this again... King's Quest 1-3 Remakes (free)...
http://www.agdinteractive.com/games/games.html
The KQ1 was looking quite dated by the late '80s.

As well as Quest for Glory II.
For those that enjoyed AGD's quality remakes, they started up an "actual" game development studio a while back called Himalaya Studios. I only say this because their first(?) point-and-click game, called "Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine," was recently released on Steam.

I picked it up from an Indie Royale bundle a while back (which, if you did as well, make sure to check your bundle page for a Steam key, as they just posted them on there a few days ago).

^_^ Yep, I figured people would recognize/remember when they hit the link... ooh Steam key is up in Groupees's Retro 2.

For some reason in that Groupees Retro 2 I didn't get the Al Emmo's Adventure game and I get just about every adventure game. Mistake on my part....and the game looks fun....

Al Emmo is incredibly interactive and mildly amusing, but the main character is just so damned unlikable that I couldn't stick with it for very long.

From what I remember of the interviews of Chris Warren and Britney Brimhall (the founders of Himalaya and the minds behind Al Emmo), they intended for the protagonist, Al Emmo, to be unlikeable, as they thought it would make the game more quirky or something like that.

Well, they did a great job then.

Thank God I got all the stuff that I was really interested in the first time around, because this sale has become really boring. My sympathies to those of you who are waiting for games that you missed to show up again.

I'm waiting for Vampire the Masquerade possibly and maybe shadowman/11th hours which I passed on in bundles...and would generally prefer a GOG copy for these old games.

I read up on the Lost Dutchman's Mine myth and the people who have actually died trying to find it. Hopefully that will keep me motivated to finish it even if I don't like Al.

Pshew....looks like I ain't missed NWN2: Complete...yet....

Does Deadly Premonition on GOG got the same crash issues every 40 minutes like Steam-version has b/c of some memory-leak bug or whatever?

I alphabetized that list because it makes it easier to find a game that you're interested in.

What are the odds of seeing Jade Empire SE for 75% off during this sale, do you think? The discounts for games that go on sale on a regular (if infrequent) basis on GOG don't seem much better than we've seen in the past, and JESE has only gone down to 60% off so far on GOG.

We're on the repeats, now, so unfortunately, the chances of that are naught.
