Growing Up In Arcades: 1979-1989

Some awesome looking arcades in there. That Crystal Room one looks like an old casino. They don't make em like that anymore...

Kids today are too jaded with game stimuli to appreciate the thrill of walking into an arcade and seeing a completely new genre of game that you never knew existed before that moment in time... and having that feeling on a semi-regular basis enough to heighten the anticipation of returning to the arcade over and over again.

I miss the mall arcade a lot. It was a lot of fun to just go there and hang out with friends and check out the latest games. The only "real" arcades besides Dave and Busters (which I find to be a ripoff) are the ones at my 2 local amusement parks, it's fun to stop there and play some arcade games in between coaster riding but it's not the same.

[quote name='Captain_Insano16']I think it is Sega's Turbo... There was a sit down version of this at a movie theater here when I was a kid.

Wow, that certainly brings back memories. I've been wondering what game this was for 25 years. When I was around 5 years old I got the number one score on it on a machine that was plugged in 24/7. One of those rare arcade moments.
