As much as I hate GS, these are probably the best prices they've given for some of these GBA games. It wouldn't surprise me that they're trying to lower the quantity of GBA games they have, either. Even if the DS is backwards compatible. Though I gotta say...good luck actually finding some of these in stock.
at these prices i really dont care if it is a bootleg, at least for the $5 games. Before you jump on my nuts, its not like buying a bootleg is costing the manufacturers any money, these games are out of print.

I guess it would be a problem for the RPGs where the bootlegs wont save.
That's the biggest reason to care. I found Tactics Ogre in a store about a month ago for $11.99. I couldn't tell if it was a bootleg in the store -- the lighting wasn't great and I was hoping past the point of delusion that there was a "Nintendo" etched in there somewhere.

Of course there wasn't. There were some other telltale signs, but they were pretty subtle. The game appeared to work, too.

Except save didn't work at all. I took it back.

Made my near closing run to eb/gs and picked up:

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Gunstar Super Heroes
Astro Boy
Riviera
Wario Ware, Inc.

Good value, especially with the edge card combined in; I'm a bummed that I couldn't find ninja five-O - I watched a video of that game and it looked pretty good. I'll have to give these I just purchased a go.

Total cost (pre-tax/after edge card) - $31.50. Seems like a good price, though a bit more than I'm usually OK with spending on older system type games (though they look darn fun!)
Edit: Spelling; Bunstar ---> Gunstar

It says Gunstar Super Heroes is in stock at my local GS. This has to be a joke. Every time I go there, all they have is Pokemon, Pokemon, Pokemon, and Capcom Classic Mini-Mix. I don't even remember seeing used GBA games there. I guess it's worth a 10-minute round-trip to go see.

On a side note, Warioware is in the GBA slot of my DS 99% of the time(no exaggeration). It is my favorite handheld game ever.

Thanks I got Banjo and Tales of Phantasia. At first I almost didn't get them because the price was not brought down yet. When they rang up thought they were cheaper.

The thing online that says things is in stock sucks. My friend works there and tells me its usually not right and to call first to see if somethings in.

my GS had tales of phantasia and gunstar heroes, but no ghouls n ghosts so nothing for me, i guess i will just check back, maybe get it online or instore if lucky.

if anyone finds extras i have some to trade

Dungons and dragons eye of beholder
gunstar heroes----
some fishing game ----

all 3 of them are going to ebay very shortly --- going to check a local trade place to see what they are worth today

. i would rather trade for other games though so if anyone finds others they want to toss off let me know

might just end up dumping eye on ebay and trading Gunstar and fishing to game trader locally.

i can trade gunstar for FF tactics for 2 bucks might be a interesting trade

Great post OP! Thanks

Strangely, all of the carts I bought were in LIKE NEW condition. Normally they are beat to hell.

Picked up the following, all for $19 after Edge card:

Astro Boy
Super Ghouls and Ghosts
Final Fight One
Jet Grind Radio
You can add Mega Man Battle Network 3 to the 4.99 list.
It doesn't show up on the website, but that's what I paid in store yesterday for it used.
If 3 is five bucks, I have to wonder how much 1 and 2 are...

MMBN: $9.99
MMBN 2: $6.99
MMBN 4 (Red & Blue): $7.99

Thanks for this post OP. Picked up Boktai; Riviera; Tales Of Phantasia and Gunstar Super Heroes this weekend. All were showing backordered online but was able to get the last copy of each at local GS.

Got Riviera for $8.99 after Edge, thanks OP. I almost bought Super Ghouls and Ghosts, but I figured that would be another backlogged game I don't play.

It took awhile to find in the unorganized GBA case. I told the employee that it showed in stock online....

Employee: "Zero to three?"
Me: "Sorry?"
E: "Did it say zero to three in stock?"
Me: "Oh, it said 1-3."
E: "Well it ought to say 0 to 3"
(meaning of course they can't find a lot of games they're "supposed" to have in stock.... I laughed)

Another nearby store has Shining Soul II, so that'll be next. No other cheap games that I want in stock here :(

Stopped at two Gamestops and got Ghouls N Ghosts (shitty cart, but for $5 the label doesn't matter), Gunstar Superheroes, Tales of Phantasia, and Megaman & Bass. Saw a complete copy of Scurge Hive as well as Grunty's Revenge, but passed both of them up in favor of Tales of Phantasia.

Also saw a copy of Jet Gridn Radio for $6, but passed it up since I wasn't sure if it was a decent game on the GBA.

Thanks ofr the heads up, OP. I got every game wanted from this list that was in my area, with the exception of Scurge and Banjo/KAzooie, but those two I was meh on anyway.

Thanks, Tsukento.

Picked up the only River City Ransom in my area.

Wow. Within a month, I've gotten two Gameboy games (Ninja Five-O being the other) that I thought I'd never see for about $10 total.
Also saw a copy of Jet Gridn Radio for $6, but passed it up since I wasn't sure if it was a decent game on the GBA.
It is a very decent game and definitely worth picking up, especially for $6. It was made by Vicarious Visions and plays like the Tony Hawk GBA games.

I picked up Klonoa 2, Ninja 5-0, Super Dodge Ball Advance, and Scurge for DS all at one store. Total cost: $21 after EDGE.
Thanks for the heads up on the deal.
No offense, but most of them are ify =/ Astroboy lol :)
No offense, but you don't know what you're talking about. :D
No offense, but most of them are ify =/ Astroboy lol :)
Astroboy: Omega Factor is the finest game Treasure has made in years. It was worth a buy at full retail price, and it's damn sure worth it at $5.
No offense, but most of them are ify =/ Astroboy lol :)
You've probably not even played them to make that judgement. Especially if you're likely confusing Astro Boy: Omega Factor with Astro Boy for the PS2. The PS2 game was ass. The GBA game was superior.

On another note, I've updated the list to mainly compose of stuff that's $15 and under that's worth checking out or nabbing for the GBA.

I thought that for $6 I should try it, but since I decided to bite on Tales of Phantasia (hope I like it, I just know it's an RPG and I've never played a Tales game, but heard good things :x) and figured I'd hold off.

I'll grab it if I happen to go back and see it at that location.

Astro Boy GBA rocks your ass.

Thanks OP, I've now gotten Riveria, Klonoa 2, and Scourge:Hive. They all seem well worth it.

Drat, Jet Grind Radio was 5 bucks? Ah well. Hopefully it'll still be there when I go back. Gotta preorder Dewy's Adventure sometime anyway.
Is Golden Sun 2 a direct continution of 1? If not, which one is the better game?
Golden Sun 2 is a direct continuation of the first game. In fact, it allows for you to transfer your save data from the first game to the second so that you can keep all of your items, experience, and abilities. To do so, you either have to have 2 GBAs and a link cable or type in an obscenely long password.

i plan on picking up Scurge:Hive and Shining Soul or 2 and golden age, what else should i pick up and trade over here. Zelda the minish cap is in stock too. i plan on trading these on this site, atm i have Metroid Zero Mission. pm or post here for requests and we can work out a deal
Gotta preorder Dewy's Adventure sometime anyway.
No, no you don't. Stop giving them interest-free loans.

Sometimes, I'd just like to steal games from GS. Luckily for them, Tsukento posts their deals. Thanks for steering me away from a life of crime and deviance.

I managed to find a copy of Banjo Kazooie Grunty's Revenge but the cart is dead even after extensive cleaning, I think it had something spilled in it.

I might get lunar when I return this one as it is showing up on the store locator at the same store.
These might be deals if I didn't keep getting pirated carts from them.
o_O How come everyone is complaining about pirated games from GS? I NEVER got a pirated game. I thought Tetris GB was but apparantly it doesn't have a battery...
Sega Smash Pack - $4.99
That's really no deal considering the game's just Golden Axe/Ecco the Dolphin/Sonic Spinball. Three games that most people can't tollerate. :(

Ecco is good, but the criminal thing is there's no battery save. Password only.

I've gotten two in the past month. Tactics Ogre and Summon Night. The save didn't work on Tactics Ogre. Summon Night -- it looked like someone had an original case and label and replaced the original board with a bootleg.

Picked up Gekido today. Not too bad of a beat 'em up. It's not great, but fun for $5. I've already mapped out a little gaming bonanza trip planned for Friday. I'll snag me up Megaman & Bass, Final Fight One, and Wario Land 4. Woot for cheap games!
