I've received a couple pm's from people wanting to contribute prices but don't want to get harassed about selling to someone or getting more at place x. If this is the case for anyone, you can pm me any values and I'll update them in the list and database.

Also, the CAG Trade-In Value Tracker is now live and accessible from the main navigation.
Instructions on finding games in the database and inputting the values from different sections can be found in my blog post here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=14143. I would put the entire post in the thread but this is already kind of a large post.

PLEASE POST BASE VALUES & SYSTEM IT IS FOR.

FAQ
These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Here are the previous GS TIV Threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value:
$0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
Playstation 2: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller (Must be a DualShock2)
GameCube: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above. They will not, however, take RROD 360 consoles. There may be stores that still do it, but official policy is to not take them in.

How much does an EDGE card subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an EDGE card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game and an extra 10% off the purchase of used games.

Does the EDGE Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your EDGE card.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

What states charge sales tax on purchases paid in full with credit and which ones don't?
Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah,
Does Not Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming
No Information Yet: Connecticut, Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

First post contains promo information and the FAQ. Second post has the 360/Wii/PS3 values. Third post has the PS2/GC values. Fourth post has DS/PSP/GBA values.
damn...just realized i have mario kart wii which would give me 6 trade-ins. If I take my receipt in u think they would give me the 40% instead of the 20% that I got today?
Trades are final, the only way they can override it is if THEY made a mistake (forgetting to add 10% for your edge card for example), still they have to call corporate. It was a huge hassle too so goodluck finding an employee that is willing to do it, your chances are very slim.

TIV 3/27:

360:
Guitar Hero 5 - $6
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection - $8
Bioshock 2 - $24

DS:
Polarium - $.60
Elite Beat Agent - $.85
Feel The Magic - $1

:360: Mass Effect is now $10.

Which is nice, because I originally bought it from them three months ago for $15. But not so nice is that they charged me a refurb fee for scratches that were already on it when I bought it from them.
What you mean is...try to sell it for $55. No one is buying HD-DVD drives, and if they are, they sure as hell aren't gonna buy a $55 used one.
But if they did sell one that would cover 5500 units traded in! Some things just don't make sense.

I sold one on craigslist, with like 12 HD-DVDs, for $25 last week...

No one likes this promo kinda weird sure trading in 6 games to get 50% is a hassle but still a good promo

Good to know, I tried to trade in my 360 copy which I bought new at GS, but hadn't broken the seal yet. Now it sits on my coffee table, mocking me until I go back. That plus my other 2 Nerf Wii games should hopefully get me another$38-40 in credit, and...oh hell, I guess I WILL be using Gamedays :p

Few more trade-ins:

DS:
Castlevania: DOS - $3.25
Castlevania: OOE - $5
New Super Mario Bros. - $10
PW: AA - $3.25
PW: AA: JFA - $2.75
PW: AA: T&T - $4.50
AJ: AA - $5.25

all 360

base tiv
Tales of Vesperia - 9.50
GH: smash hits - 9.50
Last Remnant - 4.50
Lego Batman - 3.75
Rockband - 2.00
Skate 2 - 5.00
Pure - 4.00

Just got home from GS a little while ago... aside from a slight drop in the TIV for Disgaea PSP, I think most of these are unchanged from what already on the list...

:ds: Final Fantasy III - 2.50
:ds: Summon Night: Twin Age - 1.50
:psp: Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness - 5.50
:psp: Metal Gear Ac!d - 1.50
:360: Lost Planet (original version) - 1.75
:ps3: Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time - 18.00

I knew I was holding on to that copy of MGA for a reason. Hooray for No Minimum TIV! And for these crazy trade-in deals in general! With all the credit I've been accumulating since that "Trade 7 Get $50" deal, I've already bought eight games - including three new-release console games - for free. I've just about exhausted my supply of trade-in fodder, though... I'll be sad when the bonanza comes to an end.

Base TIV's at of 3/29:
Virtua Fighter 5 Online(360) $2.00
Tom Clancy's Hawx(360) $5.00
Naruto Clash of Ninja Revolution(Wii) $3.00
Final Fantasy 3(DS) $2.50
Luxor: The Wrath of Set (PSP) $2.00

Also was handed a free Legend of Jork trial PC Game..all in all a good day.
No one likes this promo kinda weird sure trading in 6 games to get 50% is a hassle but still a good promo
Like me, I bet everyone pretty much unloaded during the last promo. I even traded in things I wanted to keep. Luckily I was able to get them back during BOGO...nsm wii, l4d2, me2 etc. for less than I traded them in for.

That BOGO sale after all those promos.....wow.....thank you Gamestop!

Hopefully the TIV for Twilight Princess for the GC has held strong at $12 or maybe even gone over that now, since I plan on converting one of the three copies I picked up from Kmart into cash today, followed by trading another one in to finish paying off my pre-order for Red Dead Redemption for PS3.

Seconded.
You pre-ordered something IATCG??!!

WTF! Is the world ending tomorrow?
Actually, I pre-ordered God Of War 3 and picked up Just Cause 2 at release for MSRP too. To top that all off, I also have GTA IV: Episodes From Liberty City fully pre-ordered for the PS3 from Gamestop too.

But if not for the BB coupons giving me free games to flip and the few higher value games I still had, coupled with halfway decent promos(especially the 50% extra TIV one that ended), I would NOT have bought or pre-ordered ANY of these.

Like I've said before, I hate Gamestop for varying reasons, but at times they DO serve a purpose. Especially since Blockbuster's TIV's have bottomed out, HWV is on the way out(like BBV)and the local shops seem to cap off their cash TIV's at $10 MAX.

3/30 TIV's

360
Madden NFL 2010 $18
NCAA Football 2010 $14.50
Call of Duty: World at War $5

Wii
Cooking Mama: Cook Off $9.25
Mario & Sonic: Olympic Games $10.75
House of the Dead 2 & 3 $8.25

Picked it up at BBV at the new lower price along with NCAA 10. Didn't want to wait for the possible sale next week (sorry - not that I'm not a trusting person, just more of a bird-in-the-hand kinda person)

COD WAW dropped from $6.50 to $5. Yuck. Mama and M&S OG both had modest increases.
^6.30 in base value as of Saturday.
thanks, also anyone got the link for the DS coupon 30%?

I traded in Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Gamecube today. It's still getting $12 base and I got $16.20 for it after power trade(finished paying off Red Dead Redemption)and I picked up Sacred 2 from the Gamedays sale with the remaining credit plus some credit from my EDGE card.

Not a bad flip for $5 from Kmart.:D

Thanks for the information, but in the future, don't post the totals that you got after promos. Post the base TIV.

Has anyone who actually works at gamestop heard anything about a b2g1 sale going on at all during the gameday sale. I know they like to do them around holidays, with easter coming up.

Nah. With how lopsided everyone says Ebay is for sellers anymore, I'll stick to listing them on CAG or Craigslist, even though I rarely get buyers from CL who don't lowball the crap out of me.

I already have one copy sold on CAG and the other one is spoken for as well.:D So not too bad and I didn't have to deal with Paypal fees, lowballers from CL or any of the other associated headaches.

Now if I could find that fourth copy I saw at the one Kmart down the line from me, I might just dump it on GS for some quick cash and to just about double my money.:D

And Survivalism, I think he was saying that cuz of how 'hyper/angry' people seem to think I am in the Darksiders Red Faction Guerrilla promo thread. I just hate waiting forever for something I paid money to ship, is that so wrong?

eBay definitely went further and further down the crapper over the years. They slam you over the head with fees, and if the buyer has any issue at all...AT ALL...you're pretty much screwed.
Few more trade-ins:

Good deals! I traded in:

SLE: TFE (J&C) IV - $1
PLS: FA (SSS) II - $2
TRP: LOF (TKQ) Deluxe - $4.50
That's why I refuse to even bother with Ebay. At least with CL, I deal locally, no fees, though the lowballers are a pain in the ass.
