I've received a couple pm's from people wanting to contribute prices but don't want to get harassed about selling to someone or getting more at place x. If this is the case for anyone, you can pm me any values and I'll update them in the list and database.
Instructions on finding games in the database and inputting the values from different sections can be found in my blog post here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=14143. I would put the entire post in the thread but this is already kind of a large post.

FAQ
These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Here are the previous GS TIV Threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value:
$0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
Playstation 2: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller (Must be a DualShock2)
GameCube: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above. They will not, however, take RROD 360 consoles. There may be stores that still do it, but official policy is to not take them in.

How much does an EDGE card subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an EDGE card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game and an extra 10% off the purchase of used games.

Does the EDGE Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your EDGE card.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

What states charge sales tax on purchases paid in full with credit and which ones don't?
Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah,
Does Not Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming
No Information Yet: Connecticut, Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

First post contains promo information and the FAQ. Second post has the 360/Wii/PS3 values. Third post has the PS2/GC values. Fourth post has DS/PSP/GBA values.

Exactly. The main reason I avoid CL is simply because of the morons who lowball you and/or back out of deals. Not too concerned with people trying to do anything illegal to me. I always set up a meet outside a very busy business, so if they are planning on doing something, they will likely back out once I mention the meeting place.

I've had a ton of people flake out from CL before on me, but that's why I always set up the meeting place for someplace in public that I was going to go to ANYWAY. Usually I set up a meeting for at one of the local malls or somewhere else very well lit with alot of foot/vehicle traffic.

I had a few people wanting to meet me in the garage of the mall to buy something before and as soon as I kept asking what was the big deal with meeting upstairs IN the mall, they back out or flake.

Of course, even after I do a deal with someone from CL at the mall, I'll walk around there and spend some of the money I make from the deal.

I also make sure that even if it's for a larger amount($100 or so), they're paying me in small bills that aren't consecutive.:D:lol: Although when I sold my GS EDGE card with $220 in credit on it to someone from CL, some of those bills were pretty much consecutive(and stuck together). I spent them all on my 21" LCD monitor from Target for my PS3 though.

Sorry if this is super obvious, but the description was vague in the original post. Can you trade in a RROD 360 to Gamestop? (cuz technically, it does power on...)
I had some guy who requested to meet me in a parking lot at night, yea right like I'm gonna go there and get robbed.
Just shoot him if he tries? It's the american way.
yes it would trade in a broken it gets like 40-45
No, I was just in Game Stop the other day and they were talking about how somebody tried to trade in a RROD 360 and they couldn't accept it because it was RROD so the customer traded in everything else as an individual item and left the actual 360 console with the store.

edit: On second thought, the employees may have just been idiots, go ahead and call in advance to save yourself a trip.
Batman is now $10
I'm glad I dumped mine off for $24 recently, a tad lower than I would have liked but I guess the retail price is $29.99 now.

Damn. I was about to say... $40+ is pretty high for a dead console. I was going to ask if there was anywhere else I could trade-in a RROD Xbox 360 and get a better value.
Why did you make that claim then, killer9?

They do take in broken consoles, they just give half value. Now there are some stores that wont accept them at all. Couple stores by me don't take them because they don't want to deal with the hassle of the broken consoles.

JP, and CAGs, i just wanted to say again, THANK YOU SO MUCH, once again. You guys work very hard to help us jump on deals and promos. I used to be very casual, and not buy many games. After discovering this site, i have a HUGE backlog lol. Anyway, CAG is an AWESOME site.

JP thank you for your work on this thread. Keep it up man.

Take this with a grain of salt:

I just got a PSP from a deal and was talking to one of the managers I'm buddies with at Gamestop. He claims that in an email from corporate they stated that the next B2G1 will be in June. I bet it's timed with Father's Day.

I was dissapointed to not see one sooner.

OOOH! Thraka - let me try!!!

GS $65.75 (+50% I won't forget Edge like you did) = $98.63

Amazon -
Madden NFL 2010 $19.75
NCAA Football 2010 $15
Call of Duty: World at War $5
Cooking Mama: Cook Off $8.50
Mario & Sonic: Olympic Games $10.50
House of the Dead 2 & 3 $7.75
= $66.50
Oh, wait - don't have box or dox for any of those...change that to $0.00

So I'll just have to be content with getting SMG2 and still have $48.63 left over. Or...I could pick up some games to trade for more games and do it all over again THE SAME DAY.

C'mon - don't even try to pretend to know what each person's individual situation is. Amazon has it's place and so does GS (as well as CL & EBay) - a good CAG will use any and all to his/her advantage. Leave it at that.

Anymore it's not worth the trouble in my mind. Constantly wondering if the person who wins will back out or scam you. Paypal/eBay almost always siding with the buyer. Not worth it. I would have tried Craigslist, depending upon where you are at. Bigger cities it is fairly easy to do items on Craigslist and get a little more. Just have to wade through the lowballers.
Maybe not, but I got your damn list updated lol
Which I definitely appreciate.

That is pretty much what we strive for. Mix in the TIV Database as well and I'd say CAG is the only place to check your TIVs at multiple stores in one location. Don't pay any attention to the people saying you could get more at place "x", it's something we've had to deal with for about a year and a half now at least. One of those things, some people don't seem to understand that ease of trading to GameStop can a lot of times outweigh the extra money to be made from other locations.
Ya, Gamestop is pretty damn convinent for trade ins. I expect to pay a price for that.
OMG - someone who gets it... That's rare here. Yes, I could have spent weeks and weeks trading in some of the stuff I've gotten that was flippable or whatever... But there are 6 Gamestops within 20 minutes of me. Make 2 trips around on separate days and get all my credit loaded and then pick up what I want. Honestly, if you make use of the promos, you get a better/the same deal as Amazon or anywhere else.

I like when I see someone say "Without the tiered promo, you would have gotten more at Amazon.". What kind of comparison is that? "Without the 8 Cylinder engine, your Mustang wouldn't go as fast as my Toyota Tercel". No shit, Sherlock... but it's MY Mustang and it does go faster than you. I paid a premium for it. Same idea with GS versus Amazon or HWV or BBV...

Common sense, hard to find these days.
Beats messing with my ebay account.
I'm not an ebay person (shipping a console? no thanks...) but know at least two folks at work who would pay $200 and be absolutely thrilled (no shipping, quick cash).
and this is a very rare comment for me (GS IS very convenient) but with PS3s still a lil hard to find and seeing them on craigslist sell in less than an hour for any size gig under $275....
but meh, if your happy... and I'm sure the GS was thrlled to take one in as they seem to be short shipped more than the big box stores ...
spoke to a GS store manager last week that shared he could have sold 100 in the last two weeks if he had em...

i too agree with this and i cant believe the last posts are praising each other with "common sense".

The ps3 is hard to find. If i wanted to sell my ps3 for quick cash, i would have sold it to my little cousin for 150. i would have done a good deed but you would have to shoot me twice in the head for me to let go off my ps3.

This is exactly how I feel as well.

The only thing GS lacks that you would get from amazon is some pretty nifty deals most of the time on newer stuff and promo credit, etc..

I mean they have good deals from time to time just not as often as Amazon does. Amazon/Nor Am for the most part have good TiV but printing off a label, packing them, waiting for it to be approved is just too much of a turn off for me. I would rather drive to GS, trade my shit in (only during a nice promo of course) and have my credit to spend right then and there. :D

I've black-balled other stores in the past for negative experiences, but I laugh at the GS clerks that somehow think they are > than anyone else just for working in a game store, or that their opinion on games is more valid than your own.

That being said, it's pretty easy to do some simple arithmetic and see if its worth trading in a game or six to the local game stop. Depending on the amount you lose/save vs. the trouble for doing so, it's pretty self-explanatory which route to take. People that think GS is any less/more of a corporate entity than any other retailer out there are just delusional and foolish. Businesses make profits. 'Nuff said.

Base TIV 4/1/2010
