I've received a couple pm's from people wanting to contribute prices but don't want to get harassed about selling to someone or getting more at place x. If this is the case for anyone, you can pm me any values and I'll update them in the list and database.

Also, the CAG Trade-In Value Tracker is now live and accessible from the main navigation.
Instructions on finding games in the database and inputting the values from different sections can be found in my blog post here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=14143. I would put the entire post in the thread but this is already kind of a large post.

FAQ
These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Here are the previous GS TIV Threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value:
$0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
Playstation 2: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller (Must be a DualShock2)
GameCube: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above. They will not, however, take RROD 360 consoles. There may be stores that still do it, but official policy is to not take them in.

How much does an EDGE card subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an EDGE card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game and an extra 10% off the purchase of used games.

Does the EDGE Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your EDGE card.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

What states charge sales tax on purchases paid in full with credit and which ones don't?
Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah,
Does Not Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming
No Information Yet: Connecticut, Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

First post contains promo information and the FAQ. Second post has the 360/Wii/PS3 values. Third post has the PS2/GC values. Fourth post has DS/PSP/GBA values.

Please answer:
nope the cheapest you can get it is for 10 with the insert from game informer
I get Game Informer with my current Edge membership (which is about to expire soon). How do you get it for $10? Also, does that come with the magazine still?
I have some questions about trading in for the hardware trade bonus I have a couple extra xbox 360's 1 that has been opened and the other is EXTREMELY beat up and is missing a piece off the bottom of the casing
BOTH work perfectly but will they takes these or no?
If someone would answer it would be greatly apreciated.
Also im assuming I would have to wait for the 25th to trade in right?
Sorry no one's answered your question. I would ask an employee (particularly the manager) the same question you asked beforehand. That, or take it in and try it yourself on your next visit there. Yes, the latter choice may involve work and then rejection, but you'll never know until you try. Your situation would probably be YMMV. In addition, try selling it here on CAG or maybe Ebay. The fees and shipping would probably suck for Ebay, although used 360s go for around $75 (bare console minimum) to $150 (console w/ HDD & controller). If GS offered you $140 (base+hardware bonus), though, that'd be a good deal--wouldn't involve shipping, either.

Referring to RROD consoles:
this is true, they no longer are allowed to accept them(many still do)
I went to a GameStop today, and the employee I asked said they can't take a console with the 4 red rings, but they can take consoles with other defects/errors. (I think he meant to say "3 red rings," or maybe he did say "3 red rings", or maybe he said "any red rings," but I misheard.) Yeah, I have bad memory and hearing.
I went to another GameStop and I totally forgot to ask, so that makes 3 more GameStops that I frequent to ask if they'll take my broken console.

Base values for 4/10/10

:ds:Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days - $14
:360:Overlord 2 - $9
:360:Need for Speed: Carbon - $5
:360:Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - $7
:360:Incredible Hulk - $5
:wii:Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter - $6.50

I went to GS and traded in my xbox and 7 other games, got total of $227 xD. I'll post the TIV in abit. But when i trade in the xbox the employees had no idea there was a bonus.

Does anyone know if you can trade in something for the $25 bonus, return the game, and still get the full value of the game? I'm going to try and return something I picked up today with the promotion tomorrow, but I'm a bit doubtful as the receipt says I only "paid" $6-something.

Thanks a ton for this thread, jp.

I was finally able to contribute today. I updated/verified all the games I traded in today. I did it via the trade-in value tracker. So I assume that's all I need to do. No need to repost the info here, right?

Nah, I monitor both. If something gets placed in here I put in the database and vice versa. Trying my best to keep the two resources matching.
i was told by 2 stores they no longer take RROD consoles.
Crap, now I gotta find a way to ditch it. Heck, I'd pretty much give it away for free right now if someone would just take it off my hands.
Crap, now I gotta find a way to ditch it. Heck, I'd pretty much give it away for free right now if someone would just take it off my hands.
There are a couple options that you can do. 1) There are people that would buy a RROD system either for parts or they can fix it themselves. 2) You can try and find someone to fix it for you, guy that lives around here he fixes them for like 30 bucks.

towel wrap it make it work for a few hours and sell it
Crap, now I gotta find a way to ditch it. Heck, I'd pretty much give it away for free right now if someone would just take it off my hands.
I had two elites that were red-ringing... one was throwing the E74 and this was before MS opened the RROD warranty coverage to allow for it, so I'd broken the seal to take a look inside. Eventually I bought a refurb off of ebay and a few months later, it threw up an E73 error and, by this time, MS was accepting E74s for three years. On a chance, I submitted a RROD/E74 request to MS. They paid for the shipping and replaced it. If your RROD is registered to you, it's worth a shot; you really don't have anything to lose.

The E73 error, which was already a refurb, I sold on Craigslist. I listed it for $50 and outlined it's problems. Said it would be great for someone that wanted to fix it and resell or someone to wanted to pay someone else to have it fixed. Sold it in like 2 hours.
And another question, does anyone know if they will accept my TE arcade stick?
Dude no way are you going to get more than like $25-$50 for a TE stick at Gamestop, if they even take them. I'm not normally one that harps selling on CAG/EBay/Craigslist/Amazon Marketplace, but in that situation I would just sell it somewhere else. You'll get twice as much.

Aren't the employees supposed to tell you if they are going to give you a refurb fee? I noticed it on my receipt and they didn't even tell me about it. On top of that they charged me tax on it. No service tax here in MI. It was only $1.06 but it still pissed me off that they didn't tell me.
Aren't the employees supposed to tell you if they are going to give you a refurb fee?
No, not unless you specifically ask. Think of them like a pawn shop. You give them an item, and they make an offer. The only difference is that we know the base value of a mint item.

Oh, and I think jp wanted refurb fee info. I traded two incomplete games in for the first time yesterday, GTA IV and Civilization Revolution. Neither one was charged a refurb fee (they were POGs).
Sneaky bastards.... I knew all of the reported base values from CAG but some dropped and some went up so I has no idea I was being charged a refurb fee. I have never been charged for one before this either.

Here are some base value

AVP (360) $21.00
Force Unleashed (360) $3.00
NHL 2k8 (PS3) $1.00
Folklore (PS3) $6.50
UT III (PS3) $3.00
NFS Prostreet (360) $3.00

With the bonus 40% plus edge I got $56.25 minus 1.06 refurb:bomb:

i did this 6 times but I used a gift receipt which was suggested by IATCG

worked flawlessly, one employee said I could only receive a gift card (not a edge card w/ all the others were put on)

however, I wouldn't do too many
my account was restricted yesterday and i'm thinking ti b/c of too many returns

therefore I would not advise this

Yeah, is weird how it was $10 in credit when GS was having that big 50% extra TIV and now that is over, the TIV is suddenly back again at $20. I'm just glad I didn't trade in the game during that promotion.

Updated lists and database. I'm only going to be able to update in the evenings tomorrow and tuesday. On a go-live so I'll have email access but no access to do updates. Assuming I don't strangle the idiotic trainer on the first day.

If you look at GS.com's price drops this week, they are almost all PSP games. Couple that with BBV dropping all PSP rentals and converting them to sales, the bottom may soon be falling out of the PSP market...

...and why no love for RB:Beatles PS3? ;)

Which is the hot news?
That SC:BD is still at the same great TIV it's been at for a while?
Or that PSP game prices are dropping?

SC:BD has been one of my favorite flips lately from BBV. Not sure why anyone would even consider waiting to trade in a PSP game with such a high value.

The "hot" news is that a large TIV drop would seem imminent, so anyone who has a copy would be well-served to trade it in soon - as in today - because of the huge drop in the new/used price (as crazy as it sounds, not everyone here is flipping at the moment). The other component of the "hot" news is better left unsaid (although already mentioned) because it's frowned upon...:whistle2:$
