Imports Links: Exclusive Titles and Suggestions:
Anybody interested in imports, EzyDVD is doing a 2 for 50 (or 25 a pop) sale for Universal titles.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/promo.zml?pid=647&ddat=1&dsal=1&dper=1

Import exclusive titles include

Rambo 1-3
The Holiday
Total Recall

And there is also non-combo versions of

Children Of Men
Smokin' Aces
American Werewolf In London
Miami Vice

for you combo haters.

The really nice thing is that the AUD is weaker than the US dollar. So I was able to grab Rambo: First Blood for only 27.23 AUD (US $22.39)

the software is on the 360 not the addon
i know that... but we can't discuss this any further for obvious reasons....

My Best Buy only had a couple and they are all out of stock now. the guy I talked to said they should get more tomorrow. I'll be in the neighborhood so i'll try then.

I was checking ebay for :360: HD DVD players and most of them are being sold as new...If I buy this deal for the extras I wonder how much I can sell the HD DVD player without a UPC for :whistle2:k

So I ended up getting the deal, no questions asked, but they didn't have Heroes so they gave me a raincheck. I was thinking about getting another for my brother for Xmas, but they were out after I got 1, and wouldn't do a raincheck for the addon. Whatever I guess.

Also, I couldn't use the 10% off coupon posted earlier.

I'm just worried about the raincheck - it has Heroes listed at the the $99 price, and there's no mention of it being included in the addon deal on either my receipt or the raincheck. So I'm keeping a copy of the ad, if they try to charge me for it I'm gonna raise hell.

Wondering the same thing, I would think around 90 bucks. Too high?

I don't see how the UPC would really affect the price, not that people could do the rebate deal from an auction purchase anyways

Oooh...that is true, you can't do it with a eBay/PayPal receipt. Thanks for reminding me.

I have been following Ebay on the prices of these drives for the last few days and I can tell you Ebay is pretty much being overrun by HDDVD drives and Heroes sets. It's probably going to push the price down pretty good on both items. Some are offering the original receipt though to get the deal. It seems like most people are asking in the $140-$150 Shipped range for the player w/ receipt. Not sure what they are selling for though....

Yeah, I might pass on this deal...just tempting to get 7 movies for free plus I could trade/sell Heroes since I already own it, for a good $50-60. Not sure if all this is worth it for me since I really would only want 2 movies from the rebate deal, the rest would be to trade/sell.

The BestBuys in my area, all 7 of them, were only out of Heros HD for a day before they got more in. I brought in the page about the correction, they admitted they don't read their own internal memos, and after a short pow-wow they said it was fine. Didn't really need to I guess since it rang fine at the register with the info in big red letters on the screen.

i just got the same thing hmmm

free shipping if you buy 3 or more

they take google checkout too, wonder if they stack i'll try

$46 for ocean trilogy shipped there with the $12.50 off

I'm sure you'd more than get your money back in the end. It's just crazy how many people are selling both items on Ebay right now. I was thinking about selling Heroes, but with all the auctions on Ebay, I'd probably have to sell it pretty cheap to get noticed. I'll probably just keep it on my tradelist for now:D

Well, I bought the drive on Monday before I found out about the 2 extra free movies. I went in to my local BB today and tried to get them but the manager or whatever in Customer Service wouldn't let me, trying to play it off like it was a typo. I am going to bring in a printout of that Retail Insider tomorrow, that should clear things up.

Also, here's another link to the PDF version of it if anybody still needs it (Thanks again to SD for it).

Sold mine without UPC for 160 Sunday.

No, but the guy sent me a question asking if I could send the receipt and I told him that I didn't have it because of the promo and he still bought it.

Edit - My Heroes Season 1 sold for 50 today. Already had it from release day. Just wanted the free swag.

Best Buy finally updated their system. But after the retards that worked there got into a big argument with me...finally they reentered everything on the computer to see what would happen and it came up correctly.

I think we should all complain to Best Buy Corporate because there employees are idiots and gave alot of people stress and denied people the complimentary movies.

Here are some of the things they told me:

"But you already got heroes free"

"You can get 1 deal or the other we can't let you double dip"

"You can only get the 2 dvd's they show (they show the 2 that come bundeled with the toshiba player but that is just a seperate advertisment) It clearly says pick ANY 2 movies of your choice under $35.00"

They even started arguing with me over the wording of the memo. But in the end I was right the deal is for 5 HDDVDS by mail + Kong + Heroes + 2 movies of your choice.

Just wanted to say thanks guys, it worked fine for me today.

I wasn't going to bother trying for the deal if I had to put up a fight, but when the Insider page scan showed up on the internets, I knew I would be on the winning side. I printed it out just in case, but I didn't need it.

My Best Buy didn't have the HD-DVD drives out on the floor, they "keep them in the back" and a blue shirt had to get it for me. Why? No idea. I was wondering if they were trying to make it hard for people to take advantage of this.

My cashier didn't seem to know anything about it either. She first told me my total was $340+ and I had to point to her screen so she could press the enter key and apply the discount. "Oh, you get these 3 movies free."

sick deal

I got the HD DVD player for $89.99 a while ago so I would have saved a bit more by going this way ($20 or so) but then again I got my HD DVD player a while ago...

For those on the fence wondering if you are going to have to brawl with an employee to get this deal, worry no longer. It's in the system. Picked up the HD drive w/ King Kong inside, Transformers, The Reaping, Heroes S1, and then I have the mail away form for 5 more movies. Also picked up the Mass Effect bonus disc for 5 bucks.

so what happens if you cut out the UPC from the box, and mail it off for the 5 HD DVD rebate.. then the drive dies the next day and you need to return it to Best Buy?

will they take back a box with no UPC?
so why does 888-bestbuy deny that this deal exists when i call?
no it doesnt.

i called this afternoon about 2p front the parking lot just to be sure first.

the guy said the deal is a go and should be in the system, it was.

he also gave me a case number in case the mnger didnt want to go with the deal.

are you serious, why would they do that.

because this woman not only said the deal didn't exist, but never heard of retail insider - AFTER checking with a supervisor.

That lady needs to be fired than. Retail Insider is the newsletter that is given to best buy managers every week that has promotions and such on it...sometimes they clarify and correct promotions which in this case its a clarification about xbox 360.

I was able to get the deal today. The employee was super cool about the whole thing and even said when he rang me up that it was in the system so he didn't need to get manager approval.

I got Blades of Glory and Clockwork Orange. Sending away for the other five tomorrow. Can't decide between Babel and The Italian Job.

I just picked up the HD DVD player Superman Returns and Transformers, had to get a raincheck for Heroes but it took them 30min to give me the deal, I didn't have to fight, just pointed to the ad and I had to wait for a manager. They ended up zero'ing out the HD DVD's and I paid for the HD DVD player. Luckily when I got the raincheck, they were able to put a note on it, it said that it was free with XBOX360 HD DVD player and I had already purchased it. They told me to come back with my receipt when they call me in when its back in stock.

So this whole thing about being in the system might be YMMV or maybe Heroes + 2 HD DVD's triggers it or something else.

i thnk the heroes might trigger it.

when i did it today it took off the two extra hd dvds right off before any adjutment was needed.

The Heroes trigger might be true not sure, because my BB had Heroes. Don't be afraid about this one people. If you want it then go to your local BB and pick it up, you wont have to wrestle anyone or call some silly 800 BB #. This deal is more like an "obligation" at this point. Not sure if I wanted this or needed it, but the deal was to good to pass up.
alright im headin out to give it a try
Well I went and they had a sign posted that said that the only player that qualified was the a-30 that is pictured and that the 2 free hd dvds are the ones in the box (300 and bourne) not ones you pick. I know the manager from the $10 fox tv set deal and he is an ass so Im sure this is his doing. I go in anyway and check to see if they have the 360 player or heroes which both are supposed to be instock according to bestbuy.com. Player check, Heroes no.

I am so lucky I called in yesterday and got a problem # or whatever they are called.

As I leave the BB annoyed at how stupid this store is, I call 1888BESTBUY. No wait either which was surprising. I explain my dilema and they have my previous case from last night on the screen without me asking, he says he is sorry the store has it wrong and Im getting a $70 gift card. Really cant complain since the stuff wasnt instock anyway, though it might have been in the back. Now I get to use my Giftcards on amazon and get no tax..... really this is the best I could ask for except for $235 gift card :hot:
looks like I might have to head back if its in the system!!! the full deal +70$ gift card would be sweet.
I would go back, and make sure the annoying manager is working, and make him do the transaction for you.

So you got the $70 gift card because you didn't get the 2 free HD DVDs?
I would go back, and make sure the annoying manager is working, and make him do the transaction for you.

So you got the $70 gift card because you didn't get the 2 free HD DVDs?
ya, I called in and said the store denied me the 2 hd dvds deal (which they basically did) that are for $34.99 or less value. So $35x2 = $70

Picked up the X360 HD-DVD player on Sunday with Heroes, then I just went back with the printout and I got Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz without any problem. Thanks OP.

i got the deal today.
1)surprising the cashier did even want the case number and she told the others that this is a sweet deal even she and her friend, both brought one.

2) i am little worry about this deal, will it be a sign of downfall of HDDVD format? i have a ps3 and now this hddvd player so i own both format. still i want blueray to win at the end.

3)if i return the hddvd player can i keep the hddvd movies:)
dont know if the hddvd count as free gift. if it does i have to return those as well.

The discerning movie goer would chose Babel

Deal worked for me this afternoon, smooth as silk...no hassles or dealing with a manager, the system rung up everything at full price and when the clerk totaled it up, and the system zeroed out the 2 hd dvds and heroes box set.
The discerning movie goer would chose Babel
Or get the HD version of Italian Job. And buy an SD copy of the superior
21 Grams instead of Bbl.

Wow, I am going to do this. I didn't think I'd be getting an HD player anytime soon, much less a 360 add-on (since I don't have a 360), but I can't pass this up. Now the question is, do I make the trip to BB tomorrow (it's a 45 minute drive) on my day off, or wait until Friday when I go see my g/f after work (I won't be getting there till Friday evening). I'm worried that in either case the drive or heroes might be sold out, but more likely on Friday night...

Damn. Will cost of gas kill this deal?

And where the hell am I gonna get $190?

Well, thanks everyone for the great advice; I'll be going for this one way or another.
