Anybody interested in imports, EzyDVD is doing a 2 for 50 (or 25 a pop) sale for Universal titles.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/promo.zml?pid=647&ddat=1&dsal=1&dper=1

Import exclusive titles include

Rambo 1-3
The Holiday
Total Recall

And there is also non-combo versions of

Children Of Men
Smokin' Aces
American Werewolf In London
Miami Vice

for you combo haters.

The really nice thing is that the AUD is weaker than the US dollar. So I was able to grab Rambo: First Blood for only 27.23 AUD (US $22.39)

Wow, now I'm debating if I should buy a 40GB PS3 or the HD-A2 on Friday.

Also, I don't see how making the format affordable is a bad thing.

The cheaper it is, the more likely for the format to get accepted.
While I think there is more stuff on Blu Ray worth watching, at 99 dollars it is a no brainer. You already said you couldn't find any games worth playing on that triple so why not get the HD player? You can always get that triple with Christmas money making up the difference.

Where did that complete list of HD-DVDs on sale come from? All I can pull up on Wal-Mart's website are three movies: Blood Diamond, 12 Monkeys, and the Big Lebowski.

I think I am going to grab one of the A2's for my uncle for Christmas. Going to get my parents or my sister to help out with the cost, but he always does us right and it will nice to do something for him.

For those in the New York area and are fans of Star Trek, you could get yourself a free HD DVD player. Virgin Megastores at Union Square and Times Square in NYC will be giving out HD DVD players with purchase of Star Trek TOS Season 1 on HD DVD on November 20. But you better get there early, as it's only for the first 120 at the Times Square store (opens at 9am) and the first 30 at the Union Square store (opens at 11am). It says that it's valued at $299, so I'm guessing that it's an A3, so you'll get 300 and Bourne Identity with it as well.
It might be regional or it might show up later for you. Earlier all I saw was one gift open, now they're all open.

Wow a 99 buck HD-dvd player. Even if the format tanks (I don't think it will) you've still got an upscaler dvd player there. These are all going to be swooped up fast by the people on the internet.

I could easily see someone buy the TV and the player at the same time. I mean that god damn fisherprice ride on costs more then the player !

That Walmart Secret Sale made the local media (radio and TV) here in Chicago (because of the cheap laptop). Now expect a huge line at your local store tomorrow morning. They are saying Walmart will have a $199 laptop...
$100 is really tempting for the A2. They plan on coming out with firmware updates so that it can support the new 51gb disc, right?
Good question....
ill prob pass by the walmart near my job today to see if they even carry the a2... if they do then ill prob head there tomm morning
Guyver thats my issue. Will they hold them in the back, will they have them out now, will we even know what Walmarts will have Stock Friday morning....
I have 3-5 walmarts in the general area so it would be helpful to know which ones.

I'm with you on this one I want to get in on it. I have 3 well 4 Wal marts the 2 bigger ones I guess would be my best bet but I like the one thats closer to my house, but it's a hometown store so I think thats hit or miss.

Does it say how long the sale with last? Like will it be going on after work on friday or is it only for the morning. Is this online also? Or only instore? I really just want to pick up some movies.

well that suck. and it says instore sales. so i am guessing no online... Well if it starts at 8 and runds 5 hours i guess i can get there on my lunch. 15$ HD's are a great deal imo. But they might get even better closer to black friday.

I just gave my local WM a call and the lady told me they had a pretty good quantity of the HD-A2. She said she didn't see a price, but I should trust the price on the website. This is Shrewsbury, PA. They're a 24 hour Super WM, but they're kind of on the small side for a Super store. I'm really tempted to get this and return the Add-On I got from Best Buy last week (haven't opened it yet). Or maybe just sell the Add-On on Ebay. I'd much rather have a stand alone player than burn my 360 up faster. Hmm...

Keep in mind that the A-2 only outputs in 720p/1080i. The 360 add-on is capable of doing 1080p via VGA or HDMI. However, this point is moot if you don't have a 1080p display.

My living room is like 20 x 10. So I will have a 32 or 37 in LCD and sit ~6-7 feet from my TV so I am not worried at that fact.
Good point though. The whole update issue has me a bit concerned though. I have all wireless internet(cell provider) and dont have ethernet cables etc to update the damn thing.

Does Best Buy have any specials when buying the the HD-A2.

My plan for today:

Go to Best Buy, and buy HD-A2.
Go to Wal-Mart, and buy HD-A2.

Then Friday morning

Go to Wal-Mart, return the HD-A2 and pick it up at the discounted price.
Go to Best Buy with my receipt from Wal-Mart and PM.
Go back to Wal-Mart and return the HD-A2 (or resell it to make some cash)

I was really just hoping Best Buy had a deal like Heroes still... anyone know?

im guessing it is still eligible for the 5 free movies?

ill pass by on my lunch to wm to see if they even carry players..

maybe only superstores around here carry them..:(

The A2 comes with a card that you can fill out and send to Toshiba, who will give you firmware updates on a disc through the mail.

You can also download an ISO with the firmware from Toshiba's HD DVD site and then update it by popping it into the player.

Not a problem. I didn't have extra cables to connect to my A-2 either. You can download firmware updates from Toshiba and burn them on a CD.
So who says you can't just go buy these items today, and then take them back on Friday for a price reduction?
They might not price match it some stores wont do it for Black Friday, you might be able to do the whole buy - return - buy again plan .

Why would younot just buy it at walmart or have Walmart match their own price? Is that extra worth the reward zone points or something on a $99 purchase? It wouldnt be for me.
