Headset Help

I am a new headset owner (thanks to this board) and am curious if someone could answer a few questions for me,

1. I paired the headset using discovery mode, but I was told that for my headset automatic was the better way to go. Is there a way I can redo this?

2. When using the headset I hear other people talking through it instead of the TV speakers, but I am can barely hear them. Is this normal?

3. Will any usb cord charge the set (I got the official sony headset but the cord was extremely short so I am using the cord that I normally use on my controllers)

I don't know about #1, but I can help with 2 & 3, I hope.

2. The volume just seems a little low. You can raise the volume. If turning it all the way up via the PS3 controls or the headset controls doesn't work, I dunno. Maybe the headset's highest level is just a little too quiet.

3. As far as I know, any USB cable will work. I use the USB cords that I use for my PC devices is the same one I use to charge the headset I got with Warhawk.
