Help with identifying a PC game that involves Evolution, or your character morphing (1999 - 2002).

Thanks for trying to help me pinpoint this game! It released sometime between 1999 - 2002, making it over a decade old (which is why I put it int he retro section). The main premise of the game is that you started out with a basic creature and based upon the environment you could morph different parts of them (such as your character having different arms). It was from a thirs person perspective, and if I remmber correctly, there was some basic chatacter building involved. I have been googeling and racking my brain, but I really can't remember the name of this game.

haha, i hope it was  really a game... i remember it being weird and an action game... maybe it was a little earlier then 2000.. For some reason I remember incorporating part of the environment into your creature... or character
