How do I keep it offline?

I finally have broadband, but I'm limited to 10Gb per month. I'm unlimited from 2am - 6am (when I'm asleep). I'm playing on a slim model and my nephew uses a white model with network adapter. How do we sign in to our profiles and not go online? I know how to disconnect from the network, but then I have to relocate it and enter my password every time I do want to go online. Is there another way?

Also, I bought his network adapter used with no instructions. Going by the green light on the adapter I'm assuming on is online and flashing is offline. Is this correct?

Go to account management - > account security and set it to require a pass code to log into xbox live. You need to be connected to live to do this but once its set you will always sign in offline and will have to use the pass code to access xbox live.
