How do you know if a game is disc doctored?

I'm looking at one of my psone used discs, and on it I see 3 lines which go around the center, each at a different radius. At some points here or there, you'll get a small circle, like a point on the ring.

Any clue what this may be?

If you look at the disc from the side, the bottom half is usually rounded instead of flat. Not sure if that makes sense.

The bottom will look a little warped and layered, like if you cut an onion in half.

Haha, so do I. I got one for Chirstmas and I thought it was so awesome. Then I tried it and was all like WTF?! The disc looked worse then it did before. It worked better though and at the time that was all I cared about. Now I look at the discs and absolutley loath that swirly pattern.
