How many consoles do you own?

Eric467

CAGiversary!
Since I came to CAG I've expanded my gaming habit considerably. When I came here I only had a PS2, but now have an XBox, GC, DS, and another PS2 (slimline). Both the Xbox and GC were bought with help from members in finding the best deals. I never intended to be a multi-console gamer, but now that I am I realize that by being one I can truly enjoy all different exclusive games, and am in turn, a much happier gamer.

So I'm just curious how many CAGers own more than one system. And if you do, did CAG help in you finding those other systems at good prices?

9 but I got most of them before CAG unfortunately.

However I got a lot of older systems at yard sales for dirt cheap.

Quite a few actually. NES, SNES, N64, GC, Genesis, Saturn, DC, PS1, PS2, GBA, NGPC, and a few others. Still looking for reasonably priced Neo Geo, 3DO and Turbografix systems to round out my collection.

7 - PSOne, DC, PS2, Xbox, GC, GBA SP, DS

Any console acquired after my discovery of CAG was a gift, except for the DS. I got it for $140, thanks to CAG.

Most of them I've gotten dirt cheap at yard sales and two I can't play (don't have a game for the Jaguar, don't have a working controller for the 5200)

Lets see:

SNES
Genesis with CD and 32X (four platforms in one!)
Atari Lynx
Game Gear
3DO
Sega Saturn
CD-i w/protoype Internet access package
Dreamcast
Nintendo 64
PS2

Nintendo DS
Virtual Boy
Amiga 500 (games all load and go so it's fairly console-ish)
GameCube (almost forgot)
PSone (I forgot this one earlier. Still need an LCD screen for it.)

I feel like I'm forgetting a few but it may just be the memory of consoles I no longer have. In the past I've had almost everything offered in the US, except for Neo-Geo and some portables like Turbo-Express and Nomad that didn't run distinct software.

In terms of setting up the systems for use I've found a great preference for the kind of big plastic shelving units they sell at places like Home Depot. It may not be the most attractive piece of furniture but in terms of depth it's usually just right for a console to be positioned with its controllers in front of it when not in use and wide enough to get at least three systems on each shelf.

The big advantage over a more conventional shelf set for use in the home is these units intended for the garage typically don't have solid shelves. Instead they're some form of grill pattern. This is perfect for electronic equipment because it allows air flow across the bottom and improves cooling. All of my consoles have operated perfectly since their purchase, many on launch day. I attribute some of this to the added cooling.

SNES
Sega Genesis
Neo Geo home cart system (modded to enable blood/arcade mode)
PS1 x 2 (both modded to play imports, one was a loaner for my ex-GF)
Sega Saturn (modded to play imports)
Sega Dreamcast - JP import modified to play domestic
Sega Dreamcast - Sakura Taisen LE package
PS2

Getting an imported PS2 soon... all the territorial lockout protection is total BS

That's close to what I do.
I have a system selector with all of the cables attached, but the consoles sit on a shelving unit like you mentioned on the other side of the room. The Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox stay hooked up, but the other ones get carried over and set up if I want to play a game on one of them.

And that is close to what i do
i have a night stand that i converted into a tv stand, and i have a 4 system selector with ps2, cube, dreamcast, and n64 always hooked up. i also have a rf adapter plugged in with a universial (nes/snes/gen) adapterso if i want to play one of those three, i carry it over

i dont leave controllers around usually tho, i keep them in under bed sized storage containers. with the exception of wireless controllers

Except for the few systems that are packed away (actually all of them right now in my temporary living arrangement) I have them all connected. The TV has three input banks, so I have all of the S-Video connections going to Video 2 via a 6-way ASCII switchbox and the older systems that have lesser requirements go through composite to the Video 3 section via another 6-way switch box.

As you can imagine, I find backward compatibility very handy. My Playstation got retired the day my PS2 joined the array.

I currently own 14:
GameCube
PS2
Xbox
GBA
Dreamcast
N64
3DO
SNES
Genesis
Sega CD
32-X
Game Boy Color
Game Boy (original)
NES

The current-gen stuff is in the living room, while the DC, SNES, and N64 are hooked up in the office. The rest are boxed up.

I've also owned:
PlayStation (original)
TurboGrafx
Atari Lynx
Sega Master System

My best advice to gamers: Don't get rid of your consoles.

Xbox
GameCube
SP
Nintendo 64
Dreamcast
Super Nintendo
Regular NES
Toploader NES
Game Gear

Thats my systems as of now, I have owned other but they stopped working.

PS2
Gamecube
Nintendo 64 x 2
Super Nintendo
Playstation
Sega Genesis 2 and 3
Gameboy x 2
Gameboy Color
Gameboy Advance SP

OK, so I have 15 consoles, 13 unique.

I have the NES, SNES, Xbox, GC and GBA SP. This is almost too much for me, but I couldn't pass up the old school systems I love and grew up with. The newer systems, well I gotta have a portable, the GC is only for exclusive Nintendo games and the Xbox is my main system. My computer's also a gamming system, but that doesn't count for consoles.
