Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

Still waiting for that confirmation email from BB. I track the order online and it still says "in process" what ever that means. HP site is no good, spent all day trying to track one down for a decent price, Craiglist A holes are jacking up the prices, went into the stores today, everyone told me they either couldn't sell them or they shipped them back. Zero hours folks because I sure as hell aint waking up early to stand in line of a BB just so they can tell me they aren't selling them, are sold out, send them to HP, lite them all on fire, donated them to the SPCA, they aren't on clearance price, they don't price match, etc etc. This is getting out of hand.
Was anyone able to get one from best buy after they were given the green light to sell them tonight?
My brother was able to get one at his Best Buy and their now sold out.

Of Course, Phone ordered one at the best buy about ten minutes after the corporate call went out and picked it up. They didnt last long already sold out by the time I picked it up cause I tried to get 2....

Funny thing was this was five minutes after talking to a BB.com CSR that told me they had all been shipped back to HP

at my store employees didn't have to go on break to buy them, once they got the email employees were buying one for themselves. I got there the minute they got the email.

My order is showing up now, hopefully it was just a small glitch in their system and it's back up and running properly now.

OK. Now I'm double worried. I ordered one at Best Buy Store Pickup for 399. My CC was charged. I haven't received a cancelled email yet. But they're closed. This crap is killing me right now. :hot:

I would raise all kinds of hell if I were you, just give them a call and demand they get a tablet in your hands at the lower price, refund the difference, send you a GC, and take your dog out for a walk at least twice a week, or else...

Oh don't worry. I will. I have to wait until tomorrow morning though. I used to work there so hopefully one of my former Blue Crew can hook me up.

My order status is there now. But it says QTY 2 and Ship City Dallas. I live in Virginia? WTF?
I brought a print out of the BB forum post stating the pricedrop at Best Buy for this and how its effective immediately, but the customer service rep at the store told me to come in in the morning. I'm sure the employees will buy them all.
Um employees are only allowed to buy them if are not working tommorrow and its one per customer you have the same chances as any one else

Been watching this one all day. Saw that ebay seller but thought it was a joke when i saw 6000+ for sale. Got on best buy with in store pickup. Order went threw 24 minutes later gat and email unavailible for pickup.

Hope hp puts them back up or get another chance on ebay. Always wanted one of these things. But 500 is too much but i can pass up on a lousy hundred.

I ordered it at full price and contacted customer service and they were going to aply the discount when i picked it up. But now i cant and they still have the money reserved on my credit card? Anybody know when that gets put back on my card or are they waiting for me to try to have it shipped to my house for free like the email said. Assuming thats not even possible since all of them in warehouses are being sent back to hp.

That's cool you were able to get one, honestly I went thinking I wasn't gonna get one but I was one of five in line and nobody wanted the 16gb version and I was in and out with in 5 mins but they had from what I can tell at least 50 of each with more in the back. Now I gotta cancel my Office Depot order.

Odd, my order details are still correct.
Just left walmart and they had one and manager said they have received nothing about a price drop. Starting to worry.
You left without ringing it up...which Wal-Mart?
Was anyone able to get one from best buy after they were given the green light to sell them tonight?
I went to the Ogden/Riverdale rd. Utah BB around 7mst, after I read that people were getting them. I got there walked around the store and couldn't find a thing. I went outside and saw about 7 associates with them. I went up and made a joke about them buying all of them, and was told they still had about 50 left. They were in the back of the store in appliances. I got one, and was told one per customer. When I got mine they had about 25 left but were going real quick.

Not to defend Beast Buy, but the random, scattered, clueless, this-way-then-that policy garbage is the mark of an inefficient corporate communications and decision-making structure. They aren't doing this to be malicious a-holes; it's happening because it's moving too fast for them to manage and they're scrambling and looking stupid and pissing off customers in the process.

If the rumor timeline this week is accurate, on Monday they were ordering HP to take back the quarter-million Touchpads they were stuck with that weren't selling. Wednesday, HP shocks the tech world by Old Yellering webOS hardware. Friday comes the word of the fire sale and the Internet goes berserk.

It wasn't as if there was a coordinated price drop strategy - I'm thinking of the way speedy1961 revealed the price drop of the PS3 when he posted the Target or Circuit City ad a couple weeks early. (Ah, the good old days. I was the one who noticed it at DVD Talk and called it out. He didn't even make a deal out of it; I had the first reply on his post and was all "wait, what?!?" on the PS3 price.) Sony had the price cut scheduled and informed their retailers who made up ads for it. It was only that us riff-raff got a peek at the ads that blew things up.

That's not what happened here. There was clearly no planning, just a freestyled price cut that had the entire Internet besieging every retailer, regardless of whether they had figured out whether they were going to dump or return for credit, at levels rarely seen. Come on, MILLIONS of views and TENS OF THOUSANDS of replies in a 24-hour span. When the SMB store link was posted, I would love to have seen the faces of the HP store sysadmins and IT people when it suddenly seemed the whole Internet was storming their place. It was like Anonymous and the Borg teamed up to attack.

Yeah, it's be a PITMFA for the past day and I have no idea if any of my orders will be filled or if it's even worth venturing out to see what's out there, but I don't think it's quite fair to act as if Beast Buy did this deliberately. If they're smart, on Monday they'll be having a meeting to figure out WTFF went so fucking wrong over the weekend.
You left without ringing it up...which Wal-Mart?
It rang up to 399. Its at the walmart here on stigler Oklahoma. Small town.
So glad I bought on Amazon when they were in stock at full price. Knew they'd price match and I'd avoid all this hassle everyone is going through.

Hey all.

good question wondering the same thing

Well my order from last night at HP Academy is now processing and I just placed an order at SMB for 3 more and all the pre-auths showed up on my account so we will see what happens.
Hey all.

Online, I'd say the HP Small/Medium business website. Just google the name to find it. However, I'm not entirely sure if the order will go through, but you might be able to get one in. The Amazon online assistant just told me that they are expecting more units from the manufacturer and to check back in 2 business days.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL....Only 88 pages of this thread essentially asking the same questions.

For those who're late to the party, the best net is amazon. Just keep hitting the site until the amazon itself has it on stock. If it does, buy it even when it's priced at regular price. Purchase it first and get a price adjustment using customer service .

I got a confirmation email from HP SMB a couple of hours later, but my card hasn't been charged yet. No follow-up from the one order and one back-order I placed with Office Depot last night. I may be getting three of these or none. Bother.

I GOT ONE!!! Showed up at my Best Buy, and they must have just started selling them at the new price. There was a line of 5 people. I got in line, and minutes later about 20 more people appeared out of nowhere and got on line! They ran out of the 16GB, but I snagged a 32GB with only 7 left in stock after me. A few minutes late and I would have ran out of luck. On the way out, several people were walking in and asking me if they had any more! :D

Bb charged my card fir my purchase using their online stoer. Eventhough they charged me full price, I have no worries. I'll ask for price adjustment. I'll do it asa I get the touchpad in hand.
On the HP SMB page when the order goes through is shipping free?
Nope. I ordered one of each and shipping was $20 and some change. Plus another $20 for tax. But I still hope the order goes through!
