Since everyone is asking for people to get them one when they can't find one on their own, let's try to keep the requests to this thread here:

Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

Used my $101 saved up gift certificate money on amazon to buy one of those from Onsale. Even if it is a knock off (highly, highly unlikely) their refund policy seems pretty easy going

I snagged one of the 32's too. Least I hope so. A lil hesitant with the not-from-brand-store-I-know thing.... So Hoping it's all exactly as it is. Now to find out if Android can find its way on it.

Has anyone that picked on up been able to sign into Skype on the touchpad. I have been trying to follow the instructions someone posted earlier to boost performance but you can't do it without either having a Web OS phone or a Skype account and it won't let me log in to Skype. Just hangs while trying to log in.

Placed order with amazon using link by phantomFriar .tx
$6 shipping is no big deal ,avoiding hassel to drive .lets see if now they ship .Already own ipad,ipad2 ...tech is just crazy.
this'll gift on xmas
After hours of trying on HP SMB site, finally got a 32 GB through at about 3 AM PST. So far I have not received confirmation of any kind other than the fact that my card has been authorized for the total amount already. Did this happen for anyone else? Also, no filler or coupon codes but did have free shipping.
Yep, same story here. Did you get a confirmation number at time of checkout? If so, I think you're OK.

are we bragging about crappy pay? lol. I make like $8 an hour and I'm magna cum laude. haha, just be lucky that we are employed ;)

oh and i got an email confirmation finally from hp smb, so i don't even know if it's legit or not cuz they said they were oos. oh wellz...

Wasn't going to jump on this deal since I didn't really have any money lying around to get a tablet but I did have a bunch of amazon play money built up. In for one of the 32gbs, I guess if I don't like it it'll go straight to the 'bay and maybe, even with this flood, I can get a few extra bucks for it.

got my touchpads from office depot yesterday. Love it. Typing this from it actually. Going to try and get a few more for xmas presents

Thanks. Hesitated too long on the 16GB while double-checking the model numbers, but was still able to get the 32GB. Will still keep looking for a 16GB for my folks, since I know they won't ever use up the whole capacity. If I can get a 16GB, then this one's going to my friend.

Great find man, onSale is a brand of MacMall, which rules out one more retailer that hasn't lowered the price yet. I ordered 1!

Onsale has a different product # FB454UT while HP site is FB355UA.

But I grabbed a 16gb one. They keep coming in stock (at least now). It had said 1 left and now it says 6. amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0056UOUC8/

eBay owes HP a big thank you for the tablet's price drop.

They just made off with a good chunk of commission from all of the tablet sales over the last 48 hours alone. What a great business idea making money off something they don't even hold stock of inventory over at any point. Amazon is obviously more bigger and profitable but damn, eBay's listing/sales fees just received a nice little boost over this weekend thanks to HP.

Local Staples have nothing. Radio Shack had ONE per store last night and the clerk said that even their order system couldn't get any. Costco doesn't have them in the two stores I shop at. Kmart doesn't carry HP in store.

I have four ordered from three places and no assurance that ANY will pan out. Add on missing the various Amazon and OnSale deals because I need to sleep or drive and can't just F5 this thread and it's getting frustrating.

I was going to get on the onsale deal but the product # made me fall back. kinda suspect. Hope thats not the case but for the ones that ordered I would call and ask questions.
Both versions seem to be back in stock for OnSale. I'm still hesitant though.. some funky numbers showing up on that listing..
yea, try 999 at least of the 16gb lol

Thanks for the link. Assuming all is well, just scored a 16GB for my wife - with the absolute minimum of effort involved, especially considering how much time was wasted earlier with Walmart and Best Buy.

onSale has 13,854 ratings in last 12 months with 97% positive rating. Looks good to me.

Yeah i ordered a 16gb one and shortly after it went out of stock... now it seems to be back in stock. Hoping I am not getting screwed over but onSale does seem like a reputable company with a good reputation. Keeping my hopes up.

Sweet did you notice how many upteen sellers are selling the same device part#. The seller is legit, they have a big store presence on Amazon. Relax !

Was standing in line before Best Buy opened this morning. I called corporate and they checked to see how many my location had in stock. 8!

Store manager comes out a little before the store opened and said sorry and they were all out of stock. Me and ppl waiting in line were like wtf. I said, I JUST spoke with ur corporate retail cs and they said you have 8 in stock AS WE SPEAK. Are they lying? He said: "that's correct". LOLOL.

Best Buy employees most likely had got them. Oh well. Benefits of working there, I guess.

You're not the only one.. I know we're probably covered by Amazon if anything fishy happens but I for one just don't want to deal with the hassle. If someone can get an absolute confirmation that this thing is legit then I might jump on one but otherwise I expect a lot more places to be offering them at the same price later in the week.

Glad to see so many get in on the 16gb. I was on Slick Deals when someone first posted the 32gb linked from Amazon, so I did a search through OnSale's listings for the 16gb. Placed an order and then posted it here first so more CAG's could get in on it before the Slickdealers posted it and the hoarders jumped onboard. ;) Looks like it might have saved us a minute or two.

As I wrote before I didn't think I had a need for a tablet but at $99, why the hell not, right? ;)

Also -- MacMall/OnSale are NOT selling knockoffs. Let the paranoia pass and order. If it is (and it shouldn't be), you can just use Amazon's return policy since it's through their site. But no worries.
Just ordered one of the restock 16GB...numbers are a little disconcerting but what the hell? If it's a knockoff then back it goes.
Dude there are no knockoffs of an unpopular product which oh btw has been discontinued. These are NOT iPads. :applause:
