It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

Normally, I wouldn't agree with negative bombing due to cancellations, but in this case, I agree. They should have had an inventory number and set their available units to this, instead of trying to oversell with hopes of getting more in-stock.

They've talked about it in her previous tweets.

Anyone with the post 08/21/11 2PM PT (assuming it's PT) timeframe for an order might/should get a unit from this "second batch", though it may be as much as 2-3 weeks, if I had to take a guess.

For anyone that cares, I just called my local BB (Manchester NH) and they said they would be out in a few minutes, that there was a line of people to get them. I knew I should have gone after work to pick up my in-store pickup order for something else. I have a 16GB on the way (received my shipping conf from BB at 6pm today, ordered 7:21am EST Sunday for the curious) but I really wanted the 32GB.

I'll search eBay for a Matte Screen Protector for mine, like I do for my phones. I have a Matte one for my iPod Touch.
 
I would also guess that many Best Buys will get more in - you have to remember that they had JUST ordered a HUGE shipment - which is what their beef with HP was all about. My guess is that those were in the queue for store shipments. Otherwise, why would they have had HUGE banners on their storefronts, etc.? Same as the HP Touchpad commercials I keep seeing on TV. They were preparing a media blitz to get these things to sell... at $500 :roll:

this is my first post on a touchpad. It's a very slick device and i'm having fun learning the software. My wife has even been able to get up and running on facebook pretty easily.

as others have mentioned thus thing is a fingerprint magnet

ended up canceling my ebay datavis order...after playing with the 32GB version i bought at best buy today, i definitely don't need the 16...my ipad and xoom dance circles around this thing, and another $125 wasnt needed (3 tablets is already overkill anyways)

screen is, back was'. The HP case is sweet, very slick looking and for the price I'm happy, was going to buy the Verizon one at 10.99 or a griffin at 14.99 but went the actual HP case for 19.99.
 
What really pisses me off about onsale is that sure this may have happened on a weekend but no one forced them to change the price when they did. If they were not prepared for a lot of orders they should have held off until they were. Waiting would not have affected sales at all for them. Then to compound things by acting so slowly kills the guy just trying to get in on a good deal and thinks they have, since they would have missed out on other chances. I have no problem paying something extra to someone on Ebay (saw some at 170 that I thought was pretty fair) but felt I had my couple orders placed and had gotten lucky.

I am a day one iPad owner whose life won't change much if I don't get one (was hoping to get them for my boys), but for some of you who could really use this product and have not been able to get one for the MSRP I feel bad cause I think this Pad looks pretty solid and I use my IPad daily and think most people would use theirs that often too.

Dam..I was just at BB to pick up my Deus Ex Preorder. If I knew the accessories were on clearance I would have looked. I thought they had sent that stuff back...I guess it was just IN the back.
 
If anyone is looking for cheap accessories my friend was able to price match the OD prices at Staples with no problem. Might be worth a shot.

I find it even funnier that the Touchpad is "on sale" in Best Buy's ad this week for 449 for the 16GB and 549 (after savings) for the 32GB.

I should have place order on that too but i thought why waste another $120...I was wrong...because after that things went down hill. Didnt know if OD was going through...so i panic and tried to get more for insurance :wall:
 
Mom received hers in the mail today from BB order. I went to BB instore to PM the case price. After a $10 reward zone transaction, it came out to $9.99. Win.
