Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!
Just got my cancellation email
16gb at 6:43EST on Sunday
onSale order canceled

1x 16GB w/ standard shipping @ 5:45PM EST on Sunday.

Although Amazon has yet to refund my money. Shouldn't be too long after though.

Oh... yeah... and thanks for everybody's response... if nothing else this is the most love I've seen in a message board on CAG in years

Even though my OnSale order still says shipping soon, I feel that it is inevitable that I get mine cancelled. I don't think anyone on here has actually had one shipped from them. Trying not to get my hopes up.
Yup. Plus the ipad2's just going to be replaced by the ipad3, ipad4, etc.. ipad2's not worth the price for me, I'll take the touchpad and use that for a couple of years and wait and see what progress has been made with tablet tech.
It looks like it has taken you over a year and a half and price of $99 for you to buy a tablet. I'm guessing you'll wait for another couple of years for another tablet to be clearanced before even considering getting a new one. All this wait and see what progress has been made etc is lazy talk. I mean I'm no apple fanboy but listening to people say iphone 3 will be replaced by iphone 4 and iphone 4 will be replaced by iphone 5 so the iphone is not worth it etc has been going on forever it seems. The same argument is now being applied to the Ipad.

Just a thought here - Induction charging is induction charging...so shouldn't the Touchpad work with the Powermat chargers out there? Unless it's not enough voltage/amps.

My A'zon/OnSale order for a 16GB, standard shipping, was placed Aug 21, 2011 5:29 PM EST and I haven't gotten any cancellation notice and it still shows as Shipping Soon at A'zon.

Ty to all the people that suggested 888-BEST-BUY. Here are my first 5 attempts to get useful information from this helpline.

I always selected #4 which takes you to "someone who can assist you". Here is the jist of what I asked. "Hello, I'm looking to purchase an item in person at a BB in my area, could you please help me figure out which stores have inventory or when a shipment of this item would arrive?"

1st try.) Representative asked what product I was looking for. Told them the SKU#, they said, "could you tell me the name of the item" I said HP touchpad. They transferred me to the HP helpline. Instead I was sent to a store locator that was 100% prerecorded and only told me the phone numbers.
2nd try.) Same thing
3rd try.) This time I mentioned that the HP helpline was nothing more then a pre-recorded store locator and instead of transferring me there could you please transfer to a live person that could check the inventory for me?......"Sure, she said....." Transferred to the Store Locator...... :(
4th try.) OMG something new, the sales rep I was transferred to asked me for the SKU# (this is looking good!), She then asked me to hold while she looked at the inventory. She told me no stores had any instock and before I could ask a followup question she read word for word the post that is on the BB forums

"At this time all remaining TouchPad inventory is on its way to our stores and will be arriving throughout the week. Best Buy will no longer be selling the Touchpad on BestBuy.com, or any other Best Buy channel other than our stores. We cannot share specifics on the timing or quantity of these shipments. As soon as a store receives shipment, it will be merchandised on the sales floor and will be processed on a first come first serve basis."

5th try.) Same as 4th.

Each time I spoke to a different person in every department. I am going to continue trying this until one of the sales reps spills the beans on what Fed Ex / UPS shipments are incoming to stores in my area. I asked that very question to the 2 sales reps and they told me they are not allowed to tell me.

How are you guys getting them to crack?

fuck IT!

Just ordered a Keyboard, folio case, and 2 nook covers...

$54.XX shipped

My wife is gonna kill me.

In August I've already bought a dell streak, a samsung nexus s, hp touchpad, and covers/cases/other stuff for all those items.

Yeah, throw me on the Onsale cancellation pile as well. Pretty ridiculous though when you think about it. People are posting that their orders from 4:30 CST have been cancelled when the deal was only posted at 4:08 CST that they dropped the price. WTF did they have...10 touchpads in stock??? As others have pointed out, they had to go in and consciously lower the price. Why not update the inventory at the same time? Even after the fact, why not give a cutoff time for orders like other sellers have done? Complete horseshit all the way around. Can't wait to see their seller rating nosedive.

Has any Walmart B&M dropped the price on accessories?

ranting:
This shit is ridiculous. No wonder your Touchpads didnt sell HP. $500 for an inferior Ipad clone, $50 god damn dollars for the case and $80 for the charger?? Really? I spent over $200 for 2 cases and a charger from Walmart just now hoping they adjust the price. Otherwise I'll just return them. What a joke HP. Idiots.
If you're looking at it from an angle, what you're seeing is the digitizer that is on the LCD. It's what registers your touches on the screen.
So this is normal then? Jut making sure I didnt get a faulty one.

It won't. As soon as you get the cancellation email, it removes it from your orders so you can't leave negative feedback.

They're trying to destroy all evidence of their crime.

I had a female on the phone. I flirted with her and offered to take her out to dinner and a movie and after she gave me the info I wanted she asked me about the dinner and a movie and said I was married and my wife wouldn't be happy with me and hung up. :D

Erroneous.

Well that's an interesting approach...

I just got an order confirmation from HP from the hacked cart link someone posted 2 days ago. When I made the purchase on Monday (maybe Sunday, I'm not sure), I received nothing, not a registration email for HP small business, a receipt of purchase, nothing. Then today, I get an email with an order date of today for the touchpad.

This whole thing is just messed up at this point. I am receiving my bestbuy order either Friday/Monday and still waiting to hear from Costcentral. They really should have sold these at $200/250. This order frenzy is just nuts.

Sorry if this has been answered a ton already, but *Looks at number of pages* I just got off of work and there's now way i'm not going through all of these pages.

So my question is, I just got a conformation email regarding my order from HP. Now, what does that mean? Am I good and in the clearing to get my Touchpad? Am I on the waiting list for the back ordered units or am I still mostly SOL and there's a good chance my order will be canceled?

My OnSale order was cancelled, too. I knew it was too good to be true, but why did it take them 3 days to decide they weren't going to ship it?

Did she sound cute?

The accessory prices won't be universal, would be my guess. They will be up to individual managers. Which means a few months before price drops.

i also had my order canceled by onsale. i just finished chatting with a rep at amazon. they said you cannot leave feedback on canceled orders. but they suggested that i report the seller for canceling the order:

Daniel B.:The authorization should be removed within the next couple business days. Because you cannot leave feedback on canceled orders, I would recommend filling out this form to report the seller for canceling the order. 2:24:03 PM

Onsale order for a friend just got cancelled. 16gig, ordered at like 6pm eastern. Luckily I was able to get a order in with the datavision ebay sale, so while its not here yet, it will be coming

LOL...friggin' hilarious. Did you get the info you needed though at least first? She probably had a great voice and 'personality' but her looks might have been deceiving. Or she could have been a total hottie. :wall:

Lmao XD :applause:

Yeah, mine got cancelled. And I ordered within 5 minutes of the deal opening up.

What a scummy company. I love how they immediately charged my account knowing full well they wouldn't have the stock to ship it, cancelled 3 days later, and still have not refunded my debit account.

Amazon should give them the boot.

Ya my brother just called me his order was cancelled also his where for the 16gb hopefully my 2 I bought don't get shafted, but my bro still his the 105.76 missing from his account so we are going to call amazon later

Lol ran into that problem with our Corprate Help Desk. This one chick had an amazing voice! My goodness was it sexy. When it came to do our Corprate visit I got to meet her ... :puke:
Dang. Still waiting to hear about OnSale. Just cancel my order so I can know what the heck is going on.
Exactly the boat I'm in. I obviously still want it, but at this point I'd rather just be able to move on to another vendor.

Just checked my order status for Insight again, and it says:

Date Entered: August 22, 2011
Est. Date Of Arrival: August 22, 2011
Order Status: Completed
Overall Delivery Status: Completed
Credit Status: Contact Sales Rep (1)

Anyone else getting this?

When did HP change touchpad pages to coming soon instead of out of stock?

I wonder what soon is defined as by them, if it's anything like their shipping or email we'll be waiting a while.

Looks like I'm 0 for 3, Both Insight orders were changed to no item, now are being deleted (pending charges to my account better drop off....) and my HP order now says canceled.

Ah well. Guess I'll hope for catching the HP restock sale or go without. *shrug*
