It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

Got my 32GB in the mail from Kmart and it has a manufacturers defect. There's a chip in the side of the casing (upper right hand corner). Still running through the paces to make sure it's aesthetic only.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good price, but still sucks that it's not perfect. Wonder how HP plans to honor the 1 year warranty. Maybe they can send me a replacement? I figure Kmart will only offer a refund, which isn't what I want.

Anyone know if the official case covers the sides of the device? Maybe it won't annoy me as much if it's covered up.
 
For those of you that got them already, does it boot up right away? I'm wondering if mine is DOA. Plugged in for 15min now and still won't turn on.

There's a little light on the home button that blinks when plugged in, but that's all I got so far.

It takes a minute to boot up the first time. I had the same thoughts when it didn't start up immediately. Just hold the power button for a couple seconds, then wait 10-15s and you should see the HP logo.

Ok, so I don't want to take advantage of anybody, but I have a 32gb model that I purchased at best buy that I might be willing to sell. (Unopened, I have a 16 that I am currently modifying to run ubuntu.) I received an email from hp saying they were filling my order. I don't really want to post on ebay, because they can really eat at the bottom line. I will entertain offers.
 
I ordered 2 hp folios shipped to home from bestbuy.com at around 2pm pacific when they were still in stock. i used the entertainment page to get free shipping.

Do you guys think I will get them even though I used the entertainment trick?

The order status shows processing, ship in 0-1 days and it says item can't be cancelled. Is this a good sign?

I also used the 4 accessories for 20% off and bought electric tape and zip ties. I had to choose in store pickup for the electric tape and zip ties. But the zip ties were not found in store and there is the cancel option for that item.

If 1 of your 4 accessories are not found/ out of stock does that change your total to 15% off rather than 20% off? Or is your initial price total SAFE?

It had some charge out of the box. Here was my process:
1. Oh boy, it's here, it's here!
2. Excitedly rip open box
3. fuck, there's a chip in the case! Hope it works.
4. Pressed power for a couple seconds.
5. No immediate response
6. Pull out instruction manual.
7. Glanced over and saw that the device actually did boot up.
8. Rush to plug it in (battery was almost dead).
9. Bitch about misfortune of getting minorly defective unit on CAG (this is essential!)

There's a light that blinks from left to right over and over and over when plugged in on the home button. The screen doesn't display anything at all. I've tried powering on multiple times and nothing.

I googled and there's a couple posts that I found with users with the same problem. Some were resolved with a hard reset but I tried that too and no dice.

Sounds like it's time for you to call HP Warranty. Let us know what you find out, as there are bound to be other poor souls on CAG. Hopefully, HP is withholding some inventory for warranty replacement.

Open up the Phone & Video Calls App
Type ##5647# and hit the green call button
In the new window that pops up, click on “Change Logging Levels…”
On the next screen hit “Set Logging To Minimal”
Click OK to confirm on the “Are You Sure?” popup
That’s it!

When I follow those steps a Skype thing comes up and no numbers, any idea how to help me out?

Go to Device Info, top left corner pulldown menu and select Custom Applications then enter it there.

Could be worse. I just picked up a used PS3 for Gamestop the other day, and it happened to not been formatted and had an active PSN account on it.

While poking around, I happened to go into the web browser. Sure enough, there were numerous porn sites in the history. I immediately dropped the controller and grabbed the sanitizer and scrubbed the shit out of that controller, and my hands.

Now THAT was a :puke:worthy moment.

Yup. Set up Skype, and then you can click the button to bring up the dialpad.
