Since everyone is asking for people to get them one when they can't find one on their own, let's try to keep the requests to this thread here:

As of the 23th, your best bet is HP restocking if you dont have a pad.

Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

Richard Kerris
VP webOS Developer Relations

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

i did this with the webOS preware/homebrew and you can tell the difference right away
the only problem I'm still having is that when I visit CAG on my browser I have to refresh multiple times just to see a new reply but other than that everything is buttery smooth.

Important Message

We're sorry. We're temporarily unable to display all your orders below. Rest assured, we're working on the problem and expect to resolve it shortly. If you don't see the order you're looking for, please wait a few minutes, then visit this page again.
Hmmm, anyone else having trouble viewing Amazon.com orders?
Yup, not just you. If you search for "HP" from the orders page you can still get the order to come up, though. It might take a few clicks of the View Order button after that, but you can eventually still get to the order status.

If that doesn't work, try searching for touchpad from the homepage, then clicking into the item page you ordered from, and then clicking "view this order" on the Instant Order Update bar at the top.
Hmmm, anyone else having trouble viewing Amazon.com orders?
Yup, I just looked at my orders and they aren't showing up for me either.
Mythbusters is still on discovery on wednesdays dude
New episodes or are they perpetual repeats still? Not that I watch that much episodic tv anymore, so chances are I'd probably channel surf during commercials on it and forget to go back to the show.;)
You were harping on a guy doing something honorable and nice. It was confusing. You can have your opinions, and I can think you're off-base and wrong.
Yes, and I mentioned that in my post that I understand the intentions but damn that guy is being a little uptight.

"NO! NO! You CAN'T have this unless you PROMISE not to re-sell it! Got that!? Show me proof or I will NOT sell it to you!" :shame:

I would understand if he said he would prefer to sell it to people haven't gotten any and to encourage people to take it for personal use but he's trying to tell people how they should use a product they pay for. Next time you buy a video game, what would happen if the clerk says "oh by the way dude you can't sell this game after you beat it. You gotta give me proof that you're not gonna trade it in or sell it otherwise I'm not giving it to you." Wouldn't you think that's a little odd? It's a free market..
I remember that episode. It's a shame that I think the show either got cancelled or moved to another channel now though. It was just about the only really interesting show to watch on Discovery anymore.
Just went on hiatus, new episodes start back up in October
An hour later and it got a battery icon. Im not at home now though, my bro just texted me. Hopefully is good.
damn must have been completely drained
Could be worse. I just picked up a used PS3 for Gamestop the other day, and it happened to not been formatted and had an active PSN account on it.

While poking around, I happened to go into the web browser. Sure enough, there were numerous porn sites in the history. I immediately dropped the controller and grabbed the sanitizer and scrubbed the shit out of that controller, and my hands.

Now THAT was a :puke:worthy moment.
The 'quality' of the PS2's at GS wasn't much better. When I was looking for a used fat model one a couple of years ago and they brought out a couple of them for me to check(was looking for one of the last fat models they put out, aka the 50001 or so)I wanted to ask them for some hand sanitizer after just touching those systems.

The controllers looked like someone dropped them in a 'full' toilet and left them there and the systems weren't that much better and in some cases were actually WORSE.

so since hp is accepting new orders soon, then if we got a confirm email then we should be good right? i cant seem to be able to find out anything about my order other than they email that says they got it and have given me a order number. or should i try buying another one?
I had two OnSale orders placed. My first one cancelled (32GB) and my second one placed 30 min later shipped (16GB). Weird.
I got my 32 GB canceled as well, still waiting on the 16 GB.

I'd be pretty cheesed if I did someone here a favor and they resold it. The guy isn't a retailer who is telling you what to do. He's a person doing another person a favor.

So I call Best Buy and the lady says "We have some in, 1 per customer." I drive out there (8 minutes) and they're gone. Cashier says they had people sitting around Best Buy all day.

I ask myself, is it worth camping all day without the knowledge that there will even be a shipment? No. That's how I justify not having a TouchPad.

That said, I'd camp if I knew for sure. This whole ordeal has been the most out of control, chaotic cluster**** I've ever witnessed with a product, from online to B&M.
a best buy in my area has this in stock. they weren't in stock a few hours ago

i assume it's for tomorrow morning?
Some of my local BB's showed the same and wasn't showing that status earlier either, so I'm going to head out there first thing in the morning.

Well of course, I would too. But I'm not gonna stalk out people who can only show me proof of what they're gonna do with it. Once it's out of my hands that's it, not my business anymore. I wouldn't even ask, probably because I wouldn't like the answer.

I was able to get an HP Case and spare charger price matched at Walmart for 40 + tax. 15 for the charger and 25 for the case.

I thought about the dock, but I'd have no where to put it. 35 and it could have been mine.
Great, now I think I have two more touchpads coming from hp.com. I only wanted 2, now I may be getting 4.

Best Buy Bradenton has a bunch of Touchpad on stock!. Just bought one from there!
How many? I can get there tomorrow morning ...
didnt someone say something bout hp being back in stock at 11? did that ever happen?
I got a confirmation from the SMB site around 11. Apparently one of my orders went through when their site was crapping out.
Did you charge it for a while though? I'm 30min in and still nothing. Holding the power button doesn't do anything yet.
That really sucks man. Mine turned on the instant I pushed the power down. I'm hoping it works though.

For anyone who purchased and price matched from KMart.com, you better make sure you see the refund. I chatted with a representative that assured me that I would be refunded. Now that the touchpad was sent yesterday, I decided to chat with them again just to be sure. They had no record of my conversation and said that nothing was set to be refunded. He assured me that I would see the refund now in a few days. I'll definitely be contacting them again in three days if I do not see it...
So the people who have recently found out HP SMB was hooking them up... when did you order?
I put in an order with the direct cart link sometime Monday afternoon; my SMB order showed canceled this morning, I got an order confirmation from HP Direct this afternoon, and the generic 'Touchpads are sold out, we will cancel your order' this evening. No idea if I'm getting one or not at this point.
