I got news of a potentially HUGE anime sale scheduled to start at approximately 460 Best Buy stores starting on 3/1/09 through 3/21/09.

ICv2 has obtained a list of the Best Buy stores that will be running 50% off close-out sales on anime beginning March 1st (see “Best Buy’s New Anime Strategy”) (article link is at bottom of this post). Bleh, just watched the first disc of Elfen Lied. Not impressed, I would go into why but don't want to get too off topic here. It seems to have really good reviews though. But, if anyone wants it, pm me...ill sell it to you for exactly how much I payed for it plus s/h. Otherwise, its going on ebay...

Its not off topic to warn people what not to buy. I agree. I watched first disc of Eflen Lied and thought to myself.. WTF is this crap. Wasted my money...

not possible. you need a receipt for any return and it would just give you your money back, regardless of the price in that store, they would see the receipt was half-off...

Just to pick 2 of my favorites from this list but anyone who doesn't get Witchblade and My-Hime for the prices they are selling em for would be crazy.

Then again their is quite a bit to choose from, i could have spent another $100 easily.
 
this is also a GREAT way to get RZ points...get another $20 towards something :whistle2:D and all i have to do is spend another $400...EZ when it comes to anime....
 
Because of the weather on the east coast..I'm having to wait to go out for this deal. Going to hit up either Jersey or PA when the snow clears..gaaahhh..I just wants me anime.

I enjoyed Elfen Lied. Then again I like darker shows from time to time and the music is increbile. The OP song Lilium is one of my favorites.

Ha, ha harsh, but I certainly come down on the side of liking Elfen Lied. The beginning is especially brutally violent. I have the original dvds in the series box already from a long time ago.
 
It is going to kill me to hear all the deals and not be able to get to the best buy 45 minutes away until Friday. Hopefully people remain as apathetic towards anime there as they have been in the past apparently.

Very right, I wrote a list of what I'm looking for beforehand with the lowest prices from dvdpacific and rightstuf, and am about to depart in search of that destiny at the only store in Oregon discounting. Also, Elfen Lied was fucked up, but in an awesome way.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time wasn't good and it wasn't bad. There is certainly a very vocal segment of the fan population who will swear by it, but what it comes down to is a mildly interesting story combined with excellent visuals and a poor cast of characters. Too bad the nearest BB that is in the sale list is like 100 miles away and a quick online inventory check shows no availability in that store.
 
got freedom on blu for $50!! no arguing or anything.... told the cashier and she adjusted it no issue. too bad i already have the afro samurai's, akira, vexille and gunbuster/diebuster.... no samurai 7 on blu at that location :(

i'm shocked at the fact that my best buy still had quite a bit there....

i may try taking my receipt for akira for the price difference, since i did get it at a best buy that's dumping their anime...
 
75% OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's what happened: Everything rung up 50% off but the computer didn't make any note or show it. When the guy told me the total, I said, "Doesn't seem right, everything should be half off" (It already was but I got more than I thought and the math I did in my head was off). So he gets a manager override and manually enters the prices (taking 50% off of what was already discounted.)

Therefore I walked out with $300 of stuff @ 75% for $100 out of pocket!!!! Sweet, fleabay, here I come!!!! (kidding, kidding, it's all for me)

Seems like we will have lots of new Witchblade fans. Everyone seems to be buying it.

I will say that Witchblade was a surprising show with one of the most gut wrenching sad moment's you will see in an anime.

Watching Masane try to explain to her little daughter that she is going to die was one of those moments that will stay with you.

as far as Witchblade goes, I saw a few episodes late night and was always interested in seeing the whole thing, more so after watching my first ever Anime series, Cowboy Bebop
 
I just came back and saw the majority of the anime season boxsets are all thinpacks. Is this what everyelse is picking up or am I just unlucky? heck, I didn't even find any anime blu-rays

I feel like having to return my fate/stay night thin pack that I bought and should just try getting the full dvds and large artbox for an extra $15-20 on ebay
 
most of what i picked up are thinpaks. considering i'm running out of space in my storage spots (house came with dvd storage built into the wall) i welcome the thinkpaks.

I might return some of that stuff... not sure...

For the record, I couldn't stand WitchBlade. The T&A was fine and all, but I found the story to be mind-numbingly boring and bad. And none of the characters popped. I still think it's the nudity selling, not the "amazing" story and "heartfelt moment". :whistle2:/

I came back from [FONT=Verdana, Arial]CA San Jose 1423 [/FONT]about an hour ago and they still had Bleach Season 1, a bunch of Fullmetal Alchemist Complete Season 1's, FMA Season 1 part 1 and part 2's, a bunch of School Rumble Complete 1st Season, School Rumble Semester 2 Part 2 (only saw 1 left), Witchblade, Black Lagoon and Afro Samurai's left from what I remember.

Just went to my local Best Buy. They had EVERYTHING still there, no one is buying this.

Got DBZ season 2-6, Yu-Gi-Oh Season 2-3, Ouran Host Club Part 1. Each came about 20 each, so pretty good indeed.

I think the name on the list for this Best Buy is wrong as it says Chevy Chase but everyone I know refers to is as Tenleytown Best Buy, so maybe that is tricking people. Will be back after work. Tried to pass Spawn (its in the anime section) but the guy said it was HBO so it wasn't anime, WHAT???

Can anyone sell me on Witchblade, I WAS a huge fan of the comics but they slowly got boring, and saw segments of the anime and it looked horrible. Also does anybody know of Burst Angel, is it good?

Man, I cleaned up at the Clovis, CA. BestBuy. Picked up Black Cat Complete, Black Lagoon Season One, Gantz Complete, Death Note Volume One Boxed Set, Death Note live action film (was considered as anime), Samurai 7 Complete and Cowboy Bebop Remix Complete, for a grand total of $160.

My poor bank account.
