I got news of a potentially HUGE anime sale scheduled to start at approximately 460 Best Buy stores starting on 3/1/09 through 3/21/09.

Anyone else having issues picking up pre-orders at the store that are no longer carrying anime. It seems like my luck degenerates every week.

Week 1 - Berserk set was still sitting in the back in the shipping box >
 
I didn't have any bad luck with preorders although I made sure to pick a store still selling Anime full on. Although, oddly for the Fruits Basket order they were apparently "forced" to pick the nonexisting set a day before it was scheduled for release. The sup at that store sent me an email saying the system forced them to process the pick and that they would tell me when the set would come in. Then the next day, right on schedule, they received the set and the guy emailed me back telling me I could pick it up.

Best Buy is weird sometime. But I got that and Mad Lax, so I'm happy.

They sent me an email saying my items were going to be canceled unless i told them to extend the backorder (which of course i did, waiting of Wolf's Rain Series for $13 and R Kenshin Box Set 3 for $13). They sent me an email back saying they extended it for 90 days, and after that i guess it gets canceled, but hopefully it won't come to that.
 
My only ordeal was ordering The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (along with the Bleach movie) at one store to pick up at a store closer to me. It was in stock in the system, and I went over on my way back to see if they had it ready yet, they didn't, but I did see two copies of it on the shelf.

That night I got an email saying that it was cancelled because they couldn't find it (Blecah still went through). I went back the next day and those two copies were still there. I picked one up and went up to customer service to pick up my order for Bleach and asked them why it was cancelled, since I just picked this copy from the shelf. The guy said hm weird..must have just got them in. Anyway with no haggling involved, he rang up the dvd for me with the 50% in store. Nice guy, stupid system.

I'll have to re-read that email. I could have sworn it didn't say anything about extending the backorder.
 
This makes me sad i was at best buy a few times and at least 2 times i was shot down and i asked for 50% of blue ray anyone got a picture of an ad with saying no blue ray or something so i can ask again nicely after being turned down.

Sorry to bump this up from the dead, but today I saw the complete set of Macross on the shelf. I know it definitely wasn't there before, so I went to a kisok and printed my cancelled order. They said this one time they would honor the price. So, I got Macross for 32.49. Happy that I got the final piece of my Anime extravaganza from Best Buy. Now, Best Buy, wait a year, get some good anime in to the anime selling stores, and then have another 50% off sale...
 
The only recourse you have is to take it up with the publisher if BB refuses/or can't do anything about it. There's been some success at getting replacement discs for Phoenix directly from Master Blasters. Read it's not easy, but it's doable.

What discs are you suspecting of not working?
 
Nothing in particular. I've just taken my time in watching stuff, and have not watched everything. I'm just nervous, I guess, that something might be wrong.

I haven't open Phoenix and it's been over a month :/ I hope it's fine.

That actually happened to me. In one of my DBZ Season 6 dics, it stopped working part way through the disc in my PS3. Luckily, it worked in a standard DVD player for whatever reason. This didn't happen to any of the other dics in the set and there were no blemishes on the disc that I could see. But if that didn't work, I was just going to suck it up and find another way to watch the episodes that didn't work... There really isn't much you can do, IMO.

That sucks :/ I wish the publisher would replace it or something :/
 
On the topic is getting replacements from the publishers, does anyone know how good Funimation is with this? It wasn't from the BB sale, but I got Hellsing Ultimate 2 LE from Amazon and it got here pretty jacked up. So I emailed CS and they said if they get a copy of my receipt and address, they'll process it. But I didn't get any response after that so I'm wondering if I'm actually going to get a replacement or if my request is going to get lost in a bunch of paperwork.
 
Great! Phoenix disk(s) did not work. The first two episodes were fine, and the third one became extremely distorted and it's like that thorough out the rest of the first disk. I'm gonna call Monday and see what happens.



I should have opened it sooner, I know.

Whereas you purchased it from Amazon, just choose to get a replacement via their website. They'll ship a replacement right away and you have 30 days to return the old copy with a postage paid label.

Does anyone replace anything after 30 days? What if something played and then it stopped?

I'm going to go to BB and see what's up. I don't want a refund, I just want an exchange at best.
 
Most retail stores should allow an exchange for a defective item even if it is over 30 days. Usually they will open the replacement, so you can't return it as new and swap it out for the old one. You can also dispute the charge ion your CC if they do not replace it. Manufacturers, will also replace damaged discs.

Actually I win. The bleach box set 1 with the "Chain of fate" wallet chain sells for over $125-$200 on ebay. (Paid $35 each) Oh and I got 3 of them. 1 for me, 1 for my bro, and 1 to sell. \\:D/
 
Ya, the Berserk set finally shipped for me about 2 weeks ago. 6 discs in a standard size amaray case, I still can't believe it, wish more TV shows had packaging similar to this.

Yeah, I tried to go that route, but they are sold out on Amazon. Apparantly, I got the very last one.

Yeah I opened that up and was like "Holy Shat!" Its a nice space saver but it some how makes it feel like it doesn't belong with my other series. Also theres like nothing in the way of extras on the inside. Like a paper or something
 
They replied about the disk and are going to exchange it. I used one of those Automated Parcel whatever, and I forgot to get Delivery Conformation, and it shipped First Class. I'm so confused but oh well...i'm bummed about not getting DC.
 
About the discs not working and returning them: Back when my local Sam Goody was closing I bought all of Rahxephon from them except volumes 1 and 7. I didn't get around to watching it for about 6 months (work and such), and when I opened volume 5 or 6 (I don't remember its been a WHILE) there was no disc in it. Yes, I should've opened the case before then, but oh well. Anyway, I took it to Best Buy and told them my story and they were nice enough to let me switch my case out for a copy with the disc. They might've looked at me weird, but I know that a lot of the people in best buy recognize me somewhat though, and why would I want two copies of that disc without a case anyway. Oh well [/long rambling story]

I had one of the previous Berserk sets, all it had was a pretty pointless insert which listed the chapter names which were all generic descriptions. There was also no numbers on the disc, just volume names, so you had to be real careful to put them back in the right order. Slightly improved video, much better packaging and disc art, and I was able to sell my old set so it didn't cost me much at all, no brainer.
