Humble Bundle Thread

That one did poorly enough that I doubt we'll see another.

That said, it is probably a bit soon for a main numbered bundle, and we've just had two mobile bundles, an ebook bundle, and a PC+Android bundle. If there isn't a publisher-specific bundle or a second Jumbo bundle on tap, I'm not sure what they could do.
Nice! With that level of jinx we're certain to get another music bundle today. Thanks, Gilby!

So on the weekly it looks like a buck for me...  (I only have Thomas Was Alone)

but I'm curious what other think about the 6 dollar options when you only have half the games...  I don't have Lone Survivor, Element4l, or  Cthulhu Saves the World.

And I only ask for completeness shake...  Its CAG, after all.  Thoughts on the 10 dollar bundle when you are missing the above?

Someone's clearly lacking in their theology knowledge and has never seen the classic film, The Omen.
Someone's clearly lacking in the understanding of what actually dissuades vs interests certain people.

Also, The Omen is a classic film. No need for SF. A bit of personal history...when I was born, the nurses checked me for a 666 tattoo. For good reason. #truefact

Bought in at $10 (think I was affected by a bundle drought really...). Haven't played Lone Survivor yet because it actually looks good. Element4l is pretty much how the trailer makes it look. Not something that makes me want to have long sessions of. Cthulu saves the world is decently funny but I found the gameplay to be bland. You can fast forward through fights which straight away should tell you that they're repetitive. There's a system in place where you get stronger by debuffing enemies but they might flip out and get stronger instead. Overall I really just played it for the director's comments. Haven't touched Teslagrad but I really liked the trailer. I think you're better off trading for 'em.

Screw the yellow font. I'd love to see a second Humble music bundle. I'm sad I missed the first one. I tried for months to find a gift link to trade for.

Humble Comics Bundle coming in one hour

engadget story

Starting at 11AM PT today you can get a fine collection of digital comics from Image, including Saga and East of West for as little as a penny. If you do care to cough up more (over $15, to be specific), you can get vol. 1 and vol. 20 of The Walking Dead.
But this is just the beginning: Humble wants to be known for its book bundles as well as its game offerings. Once this Image Comic promotion is over on May 15th, Humble will be launching a new tab on its site dedicated to ebooks, audio books and comics. That means that there will always be two bundles running simultaneously: a game or other media bundle on the front page and an ebook bundle on a separate tab. And you can expect two different book bundles per-month.

So for those of you who hate these ebooks, audiobook, and comics bundles that's bad news for the next couple of weeks. However, it seems that going forward you won't have to worry about them anymore as they'll be separate.

I know it isn't your fault, but I hate you right now.

Ugh, why don't they launch a separate bundle NOW instead of pissing everyone off by wasting another 2 weeks?

At least it's Image Comics, so it'll be decent. Maybe they'll include Spawn?

Yeah, I've actually bought the Jim Guthrie humble, a couple Game Music Bundles, and a Groupees chiptunes bundle in the past. I'm just tired of so many humbles in a row that have zero games for me to buy and never play.

Did I read that right? Volume 1 and Volume 20?! That's a ridiculous money-grab: here's 1 and 20 for $15, now buy 2-19 for $30 each. That had better be a typo.

On a side note, has anyone else been seeing weird stuff like this on CAG today:

Are these ads contextual because I definitely haven't been surfing any porn or "dating" sites at work?!

no clue I always use adblock
I only started using adblock 2 or 3 months ago, and holy shit, it's awesome. Completely changes your browsing experience.

That said, I whitelist certain sites so as to not deprive them of revenue, CAG included, and no, I haven't seen ads like that at all.

And yeah, I'm really hoping they meant that the $15 tier gets you volumes 1 - 20... not 1 and 20. :wall:

Think of it as launching the separate bundle now while their main bundle is taking a couple of weeks off.

I'll be shocked if we don't see more weeks with no main bundle this year, mostly as I'm not seeing how Humble is going to find enough games to have a game bundle every two weeks with a weekly every week. Are they really going to be able to run non-stop bundles without ebooks available to take up a couple of weeks here and there? Really? I suppose they could run a mobile bundle every other bundle or so.

I'm betting typo. You can see Robert Kirkman in the upper left of the volume behind Saga. It's blue which is the color of TWD Vol 2. Vol 20 is orange.

So, it turns out it wasn't a typo. The $15 tier does actually include only vol. 1 and vol. 20.

What the fuck?

Yea, this is one time where I would suggest avoid paying for the extras.

But everyone should be getting it for Saga -- the best new series to come out in the last couple of years.

I think Humble has been paid off by big pharma in an attempt to boost sales of antidepressants.

Welcome to the internet! Before you can proceed, you must state your full legal name, date and place of birth, social security number, driver's license number, and your mother's maiden name. Have fun. Stay safe.

I figured you nerds would be jizzing your pants over a comic book bundle. I for one think its better than most bundles Humble runs.
Yeah, I was expecting a more positive response to this from the comic book crowd. (Maybe it isn't a good deal?)

Yet another Myst version...

At least Pool Nation returns again. Solid game, great price. (Though I would understand bundling anxiety.)

An incredible batch of some of the best new (besides TWD) series out there today.
From what I've heard, I have to agree with you. I had some decent hopes since it's Image. I wish they'd have thrown Spawn in there just because, but I can get behind tier 1. Even Tier 2 isn't terrible. Tier 3 is a joke though, just buy the compendium I linked to, and then if you like it, buy the second one which ends at Issue 96 (they're only at issue 120something at the moment, so you won't be too far behind).

It's not a good deal. It requires you to buy the 18 volumes in between the two provided. In addition, the collection of the first 8 volumes in print is $35, when you are effectively paying $10 (average is around ~$5 right now), for only two issues, which are digital.

It's decent when compared to prices for digital copies on Kindle through Amazon or something, but even then, ugh.

The problem with ads (besides them being annoying) is that they are potential vector for malware. Putting adblock on my mother-in-law's PC means I don't have to clear off some crapware every few months.

I've kinda liked the ebook bundles, honestly. Especially as in the time they've been running we've actually seen more PC-game bundles from Humble than we did before. I've got an analysis I've started and will post in a bit.

If it's just Volumes 1 and 2 for $15, that's even worse.

I realize that this kills lots more trees, but -> http://www.amazon.com/The-Walking-Dead-Compendium-One/dp/1607060760/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1398793674&sr=8-5&keywords=walking+dead+omnibus
My public library gets all of the Walking Dead trade paperbacks. That's even cheaper.

Hmmm... here is a response from a semi-Comic book fan:

Negatives:
1.  The bundle is not priced that well.  Comixology recently had a massive bundle (50+comics) that included the majority of these titles, and 40 more.  For $10.  That is a superior value for comics that you are checking out.
2. Comixology is constantly running 50% - 75% off on titles.  Once again... you can choose what you want and pay less.
3.  They need to describe what you are getting better.  It LOOKS like you are getting just the first issue.  (Which is free at comixology...) 4.  A $10 price jump for 12 Walking Dead issues is crazy.  You can beat that price just waiting for a sale.
5.  A $5 price point is a cause to stop and think.

Positives:
This is a TON of comics.  Each volume is typically 6 issues.  So you are getting 42+ comics for $5.
Saga is the only one I have heard of, but it gets great reviews.
Image is a solid line.
A penny for 20+ comics is still a solid price.   :)

Suggestion:
Typically all of the first issues are available from Image or Comixology free.  Just download it and read them there.  If you like it, buy it.  Can't really lose.
