I want to play movies from my portable hard drive on my 360

what video formats play on the 360? Also I'm using dvd shrink to put my dvd's on my computer, is there any good free software i can use to convert it to play on my xbox?

You should be able to just plug it in and play. The 360 supports DivX playback now after the media update a year or two back.

MP4, AVI, and WMV are the best for the 360. Info on bit-rates and specific formats here.​

Use handbrake,convert to mp4.

why dont u choose a dvd ripper which can rip and convert?
